Two trams collided on the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam and one of the trams derailed. 15 people were injured, one of whom was seriously injured.
The accident happened around 11:10 am, writes the regional broadcaster Rijnmond. Images show a tram from the center of Rotterdam entering the bridge and stopping. A second tram then arrives from the same direction at some speed and, it seems without braking, collides with the first tram. It is hit hard and debris falls into the street.
The seriously injured person was trapped, but has now been freed, says a spokesperson for the safety region. It speaks of "a big blow". According to the fire brigade, two cars were also damaged in the accident.
Public transport company RET cannot yet say anything about the cause of the rear-end collision: "We have seen the images come along and are very shocked. We sympathize with the victims and the travelers present."

One of the best tram loops, it's literally carved inside of a forest (Bělský les; last pic, by mapy.cz).
And one of the cutest trams on it, Ostrava really chose well.

Tram Illustrations. Bombay 1900s. Made by Rao Bahadur M.V. Dhurandhar.
These beautiful illustrations by Rao Bahadur Mahadev Vishwanath Dhurandhar capture the rhythm of everyday life in old Mumbai, where electric trams shared the streets with bullock carts, early motor cars, hawkers and pedestrians.
The destination boards read Museum West and Pydhonie, reminders of a tram network that once connected the city and became an inseparable part of Mumbai’s identity. Introduced in 1874 and electrified in 1907, Mumbai’s trams served the city until their final journey in 1964.

Photo Kirmes extras in Düsseldorf, plus some by-catch
Düsseldorf's "Rheinkirmes" fun fair is open again, and means copious amounts of traffic from downtown across the Rhine to Luegplatz. Enough to warrant a number of extra trains being put in service.
Rheinbahn picked the new HF6 exclusively for that task, though the other lines sported their usual mix of old and new types.
1: B80 #4003 on a U77 service at Luegplatz, the location of the Kirmes; notice the trains standing in line in the background!
2: HF6 #4308 running an "E" special to the central station.
3: HF6 #4325 on another inbound E train. One of only two HF6 to sport the new red head livery, that's supposed to reduce collisions with other road users.
4: Yet enother E train, this time operated by HF6 #4326.
5: B80 #4202 coming in from downtown on a U77 run.
6: B80 #4230 speeding off toward downtown, wearing an advert for the Fortuna 95 soccer club and the Tote Hosen punk band.
7: Change of location to Belsenplatz. B80 #4010 was also doing its duty on the U77.
8: Another U77 service, and another steel-bodied B80. This time #4005 in its NFL Germany advert.
9, 10: Coming out of downtown, the Kirmes extras termited in the loop at the Comenius-Gymnasium - the nearest opportunity to turn back after Luegplatz. HF6s #4311 and 4345 were no exception to that.
