Can somebody tell me why 'Specified Connection' doesn't work for devices when selecting it in the app?

One device I want to connect to a specific hub, doesn't.

I turned off 'Mesh Technology' for it. I've rebooted the mesh and device several times, but it just doesn't obey this setting.

What is the point in having it in the Deco app if it does nothing?

Not only that, the 'Specified Connection' option for the particular device has vanished from the settings.

Looked it up but all the results I could find were for decos

I’ve looked in the tether app and the browser page when connected to the router, found the settings for MLO and things like that but not the beamforming

Does this mean beamforming is on by default? I would be surprised by this because other advanced options are usually off.

Thinking of buying these

I live in a 110 m2 house with concrete walls.

I have ftth 500mbps connection. The isp router is on one end of the house so at the bedrooms I get signal but not speed (10mbps out of 500). I have an ethernet connection from the router to one of the bedroom and was thinking of buying the 2 kit

. My plan is both wired one next to the router (and completely disable the router wifi) and one at the bedroom. Near the isp router is my office where I have my PC and where gaming takes place while the bedrooms only need to stream movies.

Could possibly go with only one device at the bedroom but I don't want to have to change networks and I fear compatibility issues with same ssid on the router and x10

What you guys think?

Rebooted, tried the mobile app, nothing seems to work. It says the file is too large. I see where you can download the file to your computer and browse to it for the update but I cant file it to download anywhere. Anyone have any help on this?

I’ve had a reoccurring issue with the TP Link extender- it works great for a couple of months and then the 5G randomly drops.

Trying to reconfigure is a laborious task, but I normally eventually get the 5G one back up and running.

This time I’ve tried a series of rebooting WiFi from the modem (several times), resetting the TP Link, rebooting extender from the app and Factory Default Restore. I’ve also installed the latest firmware update.

None of these have resolved the issue.

I can connect to 2G no problem, but my network doesn’t show when I go to connect to 5G.

Looking at troubleshooting, it says to change the channel for my WiFi’s router, but this isn’t an option with a Sky hub.

I noticed there’s an Ethernet slot. Is it worth me buying an Ethernet cable to help it connect and find the 5G?

I’ve been trying to get it working for 3 days now and would appreciate any guidance.

Concerns TP-Link WR902AC (EU) v4

Not sure when this started happening as I don't use this router very often, but I suppose it must have been shortly after the purchase (Dec 2025). Wireless 5GHz just doesn't work:

• the default "TP-Link_xxxx_5G" network does not exist
• when in "share hotspot" mode it only finds 2.4GHz hotspots
• the "Status" page says "Wireless Radio: Disabled" in the "Wireless 5GHz" section, even though it's clearly enabled in the "Wireless 5GHz | Basic Settings"

I tried resetting to factory defaults. I tried upgrading firmware to the latest one (250821, previously on 230506). Nothing.

Should I assume this is a defective unit?

I have disabled turning off the device to save power. I am on the AMD high-performance plan, checked the drivers and reinstalled them, changed USB ports, and changed the wireless mode from auto to 802xxxxx, still to no avail. I have changed bands on the router to less congested ones and turned off Smart Connect, and I still face this issue. Please help

I have a two storey townhouse with my main Deco M4r on the 1st floor in router mode (FW 1.1.8 20190917 rel 76172) connected to ISP box.

Ground floor has another Deco (FW 1.1.8 20190917 rel 76172) connected via ethernet to the 1st floor deco.

My second floor has 3 units in a room (4m x 4m). The FW levels are 1.5.5 build 20220823 rel 41353 and (FW 1.1.8 20190917 rel 76172).

Now my network is stable but every couple of weeks I have to restart the DECO's as the speed drops to less than 40mbps from 150mbps.

Should I update the firmware and possibly sacrifice stability?

Hi everyone,

I set up a wifi network at a friend's house: an Omada OC200 controller with 7 EAP225 (AC1350) APs distributed around the house, on an unmanaged switch. Since I don't live there and don't have much time to visit in person, I'm trying to figure out the fix remotely. My friend is going to give me access to his Omada Cloud and the exact modem/router model, so I can share those details if needed.

Everything worked fine for the first few weeks. Then we added IoT devices to control the house, and that's when wifi started failing — but only when visitors come over.

In the app, connected devices are always between 50-60, well distributed across the APs (no single one is overloaded). The only fix that works is a full power cycle of everything: router, OC200, switch, and APs. After that we have to reconnect fast to "claim" a spot, and if visitors stay long we end up repeating this.

What I've done so far:

• Created 3 SSIDs: IoT devices (2.4GHz only), guests, and main devices.
• Switch is unmanaged, but with so few devices I doubt that's the bottleneck.

Haven't tried anything else yet. An LLM suggested it could be channel interference between APs, or the ISP router capping at ~60 devices — but I'd rather hear specific opinions from people who actually know Omada setups. What do you think is the most likely cause?

Hello 👋 hoping to get a little help setting up my mesh network.

I have a full fiber connection from my ISP. When I follow the instructions in the app for setup and try to create my WiFi network, the deco LED turns red and the app says it’s unable to connect to the internet. This is with the deco connected with the provided rj45 to the ONT provided by my ISP on setup. Internet connection type is set to dynamic.

The only way I can get the deco to work is by having my ISPs original router connected to the ONT, then using the provided rj45 to physically connect from the original router to the deco, at which point the deco is able to access the internet. However, the point was to get rid of the provided hardware and upgrade entirely to a mesh system.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I’m doing wrong?

ONT has been reset/power cycled multiple times
Deco has been reset/power cycled multiple times, and tried setup from scratch multiple times too.

Ethernet from ONT works on the original ISP router.

Have tried Dynamic IP and PPoE internet connection types.

The hardware is straight from the box, brand new, so should be the latest hardware and firmware type

My living room Deco shows as connected, but it isn’t connected. I decided to factory reset it and try to add it back to the network, but the app still shows it as connected. When I try to remove the satellite Deco from the app, I receive the error message: “Unable to remove. Please try again later.” I'm currently unable to do the following: remove a satellite deco or reboot my deco network. I have the Deco XE75 Pro. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and how did you fix it?

I am using AX10 and facing lag issues inbetween even my ISP is proper at another house.

I've got a bit of commercial and home experience in networking, and I've just upgraded from an Orbi 4 node WiFi mesh (WiFi 5). I've tested the results across the board and I'm very, very impressed.

My internet bandwidth was previously throttled by my 1Gbps backbone, now increased 20% from 950Mbps to 1150Mbps. The 2.5Gbps ethernet upgrade works perfectly for the backbone and for wired 2.5Gbps clients. A new 2.5Gbps switch was also installed to support the LAN. There is zero latency across the entire ethernet network, even when traffic is routed through multiple BE65 nodes.

All WiFi (5 & 6) client devices have had a huge upgrade in available coverage and bandwidth, with speeds increased by 50-100+%. So much so that I returned a USB WiFi 7 modem I got for my WiFi 5 gaming laptop, the high end WiFi 5 adapter in the laptop got an unbelievable 100%+ increase in bandwidth with the BE65's! Internet speed test results show 1150Mbps, 13ms ping. Over a 1.4Gbps WiFi 5 connection!?!

The entire set up process was smooth and easy (I had done some planning), we have 20% increase in broadband bandwidth, blazing 2.5Gbps ethernet backbone and LAN, 100% WiFi coverage that is an astonishing minimum 500Mbps (tested), everywhere, even in previous dead spots where there was very poor WiFi coverage previously. Roaming is completely transparent. The WiFi performance of the BE65 is at pro/commercial levels, this alone would sell me, even at this price.

As a tech I'd like a little more access in the interface for administration, but when something works this well, I'm not sure I'm going to need it as much as I used to. I'm a pretty critical person but I'm struggling to fault this system for my purposes, especially on performance and value for money. Compared with the old Orbital system it's on another planet. It's future proofed with WiFi 7 and I can't imagine why I'd ever need anything more in the foreseeable future or ever TBH.

Well done Tp-link on a great product. It's rare for me to be so impressed with new tech.

Choosing between Deco X50 and BE25 — looking for real‑world range/stability feedback.

Understand BE25 is Wi‑Fi 7 with a 2.5Gb port, X50 is Wi‑Fi 6 with 1Gb. I’ve seen people say the X50 is more stable in older houses.

My home is ~220sqm with dead spots on one side and out on the patio. I mainly want better stability and coverage, not Wi‑Fi 7 speeds.

Anyone have opinion?

My Wi-Fi node is placed fairly close to my set up but not too close so that is messes with the signal. It was 1 of 3 nodes in the house and the internet speeds on the phone in my room (Furthest room in the house) reaches over 100 mbps up and down. Whereas my pc is capped at around 18. I don't know how to fix this problem. My ethernet cable is not the issue as I got a new one that's cat8, a bit overkill but it was pretty. Regardless of what ethernet cable I use though, it was still capped at 18.

I followed the official guide for resolving this issue, but I had no luck. I also factory reset my router, checked the cable, but no luck.

When I connect my laptop to ISPs modem, it works just fine. But, when I connect my Archer AX73 to the modem via a working CAT 5e cable, it is not even detected on my modem, and it says that WAN is unplugged when I enter Archer's admin panel.

Also, is there a universal global warranty for these devices? i.e can I bring it to any licensed TP Link service shop and get it fixed? I bought it 11 months ago, and I believe it should still be covered.

P.S I checked this thread from 2 years ago, where someone had the same problem, but I couldn't find anything that resolved my issue
