Would you buy in harlaxton?

hey guys,

I’ve been looking to buy a home in Toowoomba. I don’t have a big budget and need to look at cheaper suburbs to get on the ladder. I’ve seen a few houses I love pop up in Harlaxton this year and thinking of buying here. For example Kelly st and Walsh st. Would Living in or renting out the house In this area be okay? It seems fine when driving around. I’ve read some horror stories online now though that have freaked me out but still thinking of buying around here. Let me know please.

Are you looking for mum friends? I run a playgroup!

Every Tuesday after school (3:30), I meet with a couple of other mums at Lions Park and we would love your company!

Lions Park Hodgsonvale has a shady area for babies, toddler playground, slides and flying fox for primary school kids and a skate park and bike tracks for bigger kids.

I see posts every day from mums who are looking for friends, and I wanted to help fulfil that need in the community. I'm crafty and love cooking; my son (5) loves lego and remote control cars. We look forward to seeing you, and your kiddos, for a fun afternoon in the park every Tuesday at 3:30.

Car City

Does anyone know what's with the house on Tomkinson Street with 1000 cars in and around the yard?

My partner and I call it Car City there's so many!

Like is it a backyard mechanic? Someone who just really loves working on cars? An amateur wrecker? A chop shop???

Not judging, just need to know!

1:12pm Friday the 17th of July in the Wilsonton Heights area. Stole an Amazon package and ran off, had her face turned away from the camera, so I'm assuming this isn't her first grab and dash. First time this has happened to me in Toowoomba. Keep an eye on your packages everyone.

What is everybody's thoughts on the best sandwich in Toowoomba? I'm looking for a sandwich with heaps of salad and plenty of meat. That would use butter and not mayo and not too much sauce. Really I just want to decent sandwich with heaps of filling.

Newcastle to Toowoomba

Hi, I'm a healthcare worker considering to relocate to Toowoomba for work. Has anyone here moved from Newcastle to Toowoomba or similar? The population of both cities are similar. I'm wondering if the activities available in Toowoomba would match up. I'm into coastal walks, beaches, hiking, bush walking, camping in national parks/by the lakes, reading, and badminton. I'd love to pick up archery again if possible.

What do people get up to for social activites in Toowoomba? What racket sports are popular in Toowoomba? TIA.

edit: not sure why this post deserves this many downvotes, but ok.

Has anyone used BCR Concreting? I’m looking to get a few quotes for a concrete pathway around the house. Any feedback on them, or any other concreters you’ve used and would recommend?

The vault on ruthven

Has anyone been to or worked at The Vault on Ruthven in Toowoomba?
I’d love to hear some honest opinions from both dancers and customers. What’s the atmosphere like? Is it usually busy? How’s the management, security and staff? Is it beginner friendly for dancers? What kind of customers does it attract, and what’s the overall vibe? Do customers generally enjoy it?
Would you recommend it? Any good or bad experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

What is Harlaxton like?

Hi everyone, please confirm if my statements are correct and let me know about the last bit :) ....

I think behind Downlands is the nicest area of Harlo with newer houses (Pascoe and Smith Lne etc, Mabel/Kate/Perry Smith)

Around Northpoint Motel (the streets between Gombungee Rd and NE Hwy/Ruthven (Coonan St, Doyle St, Gleeson Cres, Kelley St, Walsh St) is the oldest bit of the suburb that gives Harlaxton the bad rep and has a lot of average-poor timber houses? What about social housing?

What is it like around Willowborn Footy Club/behind Northpoint shops, Mole St and Jones St.

I suspect it can't be a particularly nice area being that close to the train lines and is there a few industrial buildings around?

Viral Food festival at showgrounds this weekend

Lots of food options by the looks. Not sure if the food is any good or just a gimmick for customers.

Wondering how it goes Friday before heading out on Sunday with the family.

Toowoomba Entrepreneurs Book Club

I’m an entrepreneur currently building and scaling my companies in Toowoomba. I’m currently reading a number of business and personal development books to help with my businesses. I really want to discuss these books with others and understand how they’ve implemented the principles (or will implement them) into their own business. However, I noticed that there’s no book club for entrepreneurs in Toowoomba. So I decided to create one over on Facebook group called ‘Toowoomba Entrepreneurs Book Club’ to meet up to discuss the books. I’m aiming to meet once a month to discuss the books. If you’d like to join the link to the group is in the comments.

Language exchange/Japanese Speaking groups

Haven't really been able to find much information successfully with google and the like. Wondering if there's groups for Japanese language learners or similar, it's really the biggest hurdle in my current learning journey but I'm not entirely familiar with Toowoomba and it's ongoings.

I built a free interactive Hangout Map to help us easily find meetups and mates in Toowoomba (+ a quick note for the mods!)

Hey,

I've noticed it can sometimes be tough to organize actual offline meetups or find genuine connections just by scrolling through text posts. To try and make building a local social circle, or even finding a date, a bit easier, I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on.

I set up [r/AussieHangout](r/AussieHangout). The main feature is a live, interactive map built right into Reddit. Instead of posting into the void, you can visually see who is nearby, discover local events, and connect with people in your area.

* Visual Discovery: You can easily spot local meetups, coffee runs, or pub trips on the map.
* Privacy First: There is absolutely zero GPS tracking. You just manually drop a pin in your general area/suburb.
* SFW Connections: Whether you are looking for new mates, a hobby buddy, or even SFW dating, the map supports it all. (For example, we actually just partnered up with [r/SydneySocial](r/SydneySocial) and [r/r4rsydneysfw](r/r4rsydneysfw) to help safely connect people!)

If you're looking to make some plans this week or just want to see who's hanging out around Toowoomba, feel free to drop by and put a pin on the map. Let's get some more offline meetups going!

🤝 A Quick Note for the [r/Toowoomba](r/Toowoomba) Mod Team!

Since this sub acts as the main hub for Toowoomba meetups, I'd love to partner up so we don't split the community! We can easily integrate this subreddit directly into the Hangout Map.

Visual Sync: Your community's meetups will automatically display on the interactive map.

It is completely automated and just takes a quick AutoMod snippet to set up. If you are open to giving your users this visual tool, I’ve put together a full breakdown of how to integrate right here:
