Bought this on a whim cause it looked sexy and I'm already in love. Light and floaty but still powerful. Can't wait to put in more time with it.

Man, it feels like forever since I last made a yoyo order. I can't wait for this one. :)
I am told there is a fun surprise with my order. Hopefully it's not another headshot of Gwyneth Paltrow. :D

Hi guys. On the 7th of july I bought a second hand yoyo YYF atom smasher. And for a couple of days lately the pads on that yoyo has been really often falling off. So i am gonna need some advices for perhaps how to fix it and why is it causing the pads to fall off.🙏🙏

I have a couple of yoyos I bought in 2010, and some accessories. The yoyos are a Duncan Pulse and a Duncan Freehand Zero. They've say around getting light occasional use. I decided it was time to overhaul the Pulse and figure out why one side was not lighting up. When I got it apart I saw the friction stickers were real worn. After I fixed a terminal corrosion issue and reassembled the halves with fresh batteries, I decided to replace the pads and string and lube the bearing.
The "some accessories" include Duncan friction stickers, silicone stickers, and a shitload of strings. I've got 100 50/50 cotton/poly #6 ones for example. I decided to lube the bearing with some 3 in 1 PTFE dry lube. I put it back together and messed with it a bit, and then went to read about lubricating yo-yo bearings.
To cut to the chase, I've been conversing with Google AI and it suggests my optimal course is
Take the Pulse back apart
Remove the bearing. Remove the metal guards from the sides of the bearing.
Clean the bearing by immersing it in light mineral spirit, soaking for 10 min, then swishing it around a bit. Remove from solvent.
Wipe bearing with paper towel and put on end of pencil. Spin bearing until dry.
Apply tiny specks of diving-gear-grade silicone grease to the bearings.
Discard the metal shields and their retaining clips. Reassemble the yoyo with bearings exposed.
But first, remove one silicone sticker and replace it with a friction sticker.
Does all this pass a sanity check? I know, there are purpose-formulated thick yo-yo lubes I should be using, but the AI thinks my moderately exotic silicone is a reasonable stand-in.
If all that passes the smell test, there's a suggestion to take apart the Freehand Zero, expose and clean its bearing, lubricate with light sewing machine oil (yes again I know, there's a product for that, but I already own a collection of lubricants), and rebuilding with silicone stickers in place of the worn-out friction stickers it has from the factory. I'd use another 50/50 #6 string on that.
Do these seem like reasonable maintenance/upgrade steps?

Just a lovely pocket responsive. Smooth play and satisfying soft finish that is just a delight to the touch. You can get a blank bearing spacer from ZGRT as well and now you have a delicious fixie. Super nice for when you wanna keep it easy. 5 stars

Just got it out of the box, stringed it, gave it a few snap starts and no matter how I tug it's not catching at all
Definitely had the responsive bearing on it, though I tried the other one just in case and it didn't work either
Why might this be?
Maybe I should just keep the unresponsive on it and learn to bind 🤔

This SF Movement is my first metal yoyo and it's still my favorite throw.

I'm an advanced player so nothing like trapeze eli hops or any of that. Example would be rancid milk. That trick helps me practice tech tricks on the more complicated side. Does anyone else use any tricks to help overall play? Not trying to say I only practice one trick tho. Like reverse behind the back reverse brent stole helped a little with behind the back tricks when I first learned it. Also is doing this wasting my time.

I'm really impressed by how silent and smooth this throw is. Practically zero vibe, light and powerful. Simply wow!

I bought a couple of MagicYoyo K3s to practice with my left hand, but I dropped them on concrete during my office breaks and now they need replacing.
For practice, what's the usual approach: one tough, durable yoyo that can take abuse, or a few cheap plastic yoyos that you're okay with replacing when they get beat up?

I'm starting to practice some 2A and just got these Loop Space II from Yosa. They seem quite nice overall and have a nice weight. I'll try them later today to see how it goes :)

Do y’all keep string length the same on smaller throws like the Atmos Smol or Mini Shutter?
r/Throwers • u/ronoldo7 • 2d ago
It’s going to cost something like 45 CAD to get 2x 3 packs from their website lol.
Anyone have similar string recommendations or ways to get these cheaper here? Thanks!
