ANNOUNCEMENT | MOD TEAM The winner of the competition has been decided*

Congratulations to u/PinappleCoin_Gaming for winning this year’s competition! In my opinion it’s a great build with beautiful nature and wins by default since there was only one submission.

As promised u/PinappleCoin_Gaming will receive a custom flair. Though, I’m not sure if it makes for a great banner, what do you think?

Also, update on the general subreddit, you may have seen we have changed our banner to a design by u/HeyaIlscotthere from last year’s competition to fit with the winter and festive season.

Anyways, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! 💙

Competition Entrant The 18th century French colonial region of Neu Dubois

Thumbnail gallery
44 Upvotes

Here's the small region of Neu Dubois, a French colony in New France! During the early 18th century, this land was settled because of its varying land, apparent water & forest, and defensible location. Nowadays, being home to the colonial city of Neu Châteauroux, the strategic fort Château D'Avant, a bustling Le Port-Dubois, and other smaller colonial settlements by Frenchmen, it's an important spot for colonizers & people coming in from France; looking for a brand new life in uncharted territory.

Fact time~! Did you know Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October, not November? This is so it's aligned with the harvest season, & to avoid the winters. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

This was a bit of a hard one! I think I, for one did quite well with this, though. Love the feeling. Reminds me of something.. Tell me what you think. ;)

So this is it so far (water pipes are roads) and it has 12 and a half thousand people. I plan to expand it a lot more, (an airport, shipyard, train station, etc.) but I was wondering if there was something else I should be doing, or just any recommendations to make it look better.

My plugins are:

Brazilian colonial buildings by erionit

Verona historical buildings by erionit

Reformed Big Church by Ttownlover

Pavilion park by FinnyFelicia

Austrian Buildings by vönark

Colonial buildings of Tunisia by erionit

Liberec historical buildings by erionit

Soviet residential buildings by erionit

The Lake Parks by Stephanie

Amsterdam modular buildings by erionit

Prague Buildings by Zaaron

Koyagi heavy industries by Kai’sWork

Hampshire Coffee shop by JollyRoger1

Beautiful Park (1&2) by Arif

I know that this game is for creativity, I was just wondering about any tips and tricks or suggestions.

Question Do Freight Trains Work Underground?

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

The thought of expanding my freight system came late to me and now I'm tryna restore the deed by going underground, problem is it keeps saying no suitable connection. I just realized I need to expand my freight system westward was because of all the traffic, I even replaced it with expressway and it didn't get any better. I've tried everything, even buses and trains didn't reduce the traffic, so I think freight and cargo (because of the trucks) is the problem, please enlighten me how to fix this. Last two slides are my transportation in the area. For reference my industrial zones is in the bottom right island.

Question Why every land replacements are labeled "Land" in building tool, even decals?

Hi there, Here's a flaw/issue in TheoTown. Apparently, i pressed Build > Terrain > Any land replacements (e.g. Sand, Snow, Rocky Sand), but here's something frustrating: It says "Land" in the top-left corner.

This also applies to Asphalt (incl. Concrete) and community plugin decals.

Creation An Eastern European city shaped by centuries of growth

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

I wanted to share my latest TheoTown project. Instead of building a modern city from scratch, I've been growing this one through different historical eras. At the moment, the city has reached the 1960s.

The whole project is inspired by the history, urban planning, and architecture of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. The oldest part of the city is built around a medieval fortress on the river, which gradually blends into dense Ottoman and Central European neighborhoods. As the city enters the early 20th century, it expands with grand boulevards, administrative buildings, and classical architecture. By the 1960s, modern apartment blocks, wider roads, and new residential districts begin spreading across the river, while the surrounding villages and river islands slowly become part of the ever-growing urban area.

All district names are in Serbian, which I think helps give the city a more authentic regional feel.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or suggestions before I continue expanding it into the late '70s and '80s.

I have a 40Sqmi city as a unified region but it would be cool to see population areas like you can for split regions. Is there any way to do this?

This time I have completed the Western Bridge District which includes a stadium for tourneys, a monastery, and a graveyard.

As always, I'm open for suggestions and seek to build a unique landmark for each new district, because a bunch of buildings are just boring.
