Dedicated server problems
Hey everyone! I’ve been obsessed with The Ship ever since it came out, and recently I decided to try hosting my own dedicated server for both the original game and the Remasted version. I honestly prefer the original, though.
I’m running into a few problems.
With The Ship: Remasted, my server never appears in the dedicated server list, no matter what I try. Even when I manage to get the server running and give my friends my public IP address, neither they nor I can join. When we try to find or connect to it through Steam’s server browser, the game just sends us back to the main menu.
The original version works a little better. I managed to get the dedicated server running with a few workarounds, and it appears on my LAN, but it still does not show up in the Internet dedicated server list. The server console says that the connection to Steam servers was successful and that VAC secure mode is active, so I’m not sure what is still missing.
Has anyone managed to host a working public server for either version recently? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Edit:
Another strange issue is that Steam’s newer server browser does not add the server to Favorites at all. It does not show an error or say that the server cannot be found, it simply behaves as if nothing happened. This also happens with the server’s local IP address, even though the server appears correctly under the game’s LAN tab and I can connect to it from there.
The dedicated server console reports “Connection to Steam servers successful” and “VAC secure mode is activated,” so the server itself seems to be communicating with Steam correctly.
