Housing Private Bedroom near ASU Tempe $499 + utilities

Hey y'all, my name's Roland. I'm a 28 year old electrician; my sister Cecilia and I rent a 4 bedroom home 2 miles south of ASU Tempe. We have a room available right now. Completely furnished: new mattress and bedding, dresser, mirror, nightstand, etc.

Your share of utilities would be a flat $150/mo, and includes electricity, 5G home internet, water, trash, and natural gas (water heater).

The home is right near Rural and Southern. There's lots of street parking around here; the neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. The bathroom would be shared with two 20something adult women (I have the master bed/bath).

Due upon signing month to month rental agreement: first month's rent/utilities ($650) and $500 deposit.

Honestly just trying to find a decent person. I can work something out with the deposit if you're really committed/seem trustworthy. Please don't make me have to deal with Facebook people again.

Park Riviera Townhouses

I'm considering buying one of the Park Riviera townhouses - on McClintock, between Southern and Baseline.

Does anyone have any experience with them? Anything you wish you'd known before you bought? I'm wondering if they have any big pest problems, like scorpions or roof rats, how quickly and well the HOA responds and fixes issues, how safe you feel living there, etc.

Thank you for any help!

24 and struggling to make friends in Tempe — where do people meet others?

Hi!
I’m 24 and moved to Tempe about a year ago, but I’ve honestly had a really hard time making friends here. I’m at the point where I feel like I need to put myself out there more, but I’m not really sure where people in their 20s actually go to meet new people and make genuine friendships.

Where do you all meet people? Are there any groups, clubs, classes, activities, volunteering opportunities, or regular events that you’d recommend?

Or anyone want to be friends 😭

I’m open to pretty much anything and would love to find people who are also looking to make new friends. I’d especially love to hear from other people around my age who moved here and had to build a social circle from scratch!

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated 😊

Tempe stoplights are the worst.

I call them Tempe forever lights because it feels like you're stuck at an intersection for eternity if you miss the timing. It's especially egregious on the stretch of baseline between Mill Ave and 48th st. I unfortunately am staying near there and doing door dash to get by until I get a real job and sitting at all those damned stoplights every day to get into the thicker part of Tempe and then back to where I'm staying at the end of my day takes for-fucking-ever. It's not just there, though, every stoplight has staggered arrows and lights that makes it feel like you've spent 3-5 business days just to get through. Tempe apparently has a pedestrian friendly policy that contributes to this, but I'm sorry, aside from around ASU campus, Tempe is not a walkable city, despite how hard they might try, they are still a car centric Phoenix metro city and these forever lights are atrocious.

Housing Need some help

I'm looking for someone who could temporarily foster my mom's dog or would be willing to adopt him, got told me the other day her apartment management is threatening to kick her out if she doesn't rehome the dog and she hasn't had any luck with nearby shelters as most of them are only looking for intakes in August which is way past her deadline. Any help would be great!

Place to get my breaks checked that won't say $300 without checking them

Basically is there anywhere in the area that I can get my car's brakes actually looked at for, say, $50?

And, if they do need to be replaced, won't change a ton?

And then won't need to be fixed again in 6 weeks?

Edit to add: I normally do all my own maintenance stuff, but I think something is up with my system so I want a pro to look at it instead of just trying to YouTube my way through it. Some stuff is worth the extra cash . . .

Trying to remember the name of an ice cream place in Tempe that would grind up candy. Would’ve been in the 80s around rural and apache maybe?

I'd like to support AZ central to get better local news on what's going on in Tempe, but man do they make it hard

I refuse to subscribe to anything that makes it harder to cancel than subscribe. Especially if that means having to call a retention agent during business hours. I hoped they would have changed since I last had them as a subscription but it's still right in their subscription terms which makes it a non-starter.

Please don’t tell anyone who doesn’t live here. I’ve never seen it this cool for this long in July. My poor dogs have been thoroughly walked.

What do you guys do for fun?

So, I'm in my early/mid-20s, recently graduated, and just started my first full-time job. I find myself getting really bored during evenings and weekends. I do visit Tempe town laken often for walks but looking to explore more.

I've never really been into video games, so that's not my thing. I love outdoor activities like hiking, walking, and exploring, but with the Arizona heat, that's been difficult lately. I also don't use social media, and barely have any friends, so I end up spending most of my free time alone scrolling on YouTube.

I'm just looking for any ideas to get out of the house and stay active. Maybe places to explore around the city, solo-friendly activities, clubs, classes, or memberships that are worth checking out. I'm trying to avoid computer-based things since I already spend most of my day staring at my laptop at work.

What do you guys do after work or on weekends to keep yourselves busy and active? I'd love to hear any suggestions. I'm kinda open to anything.

Housing Cul de Sac Apartment Experiences?

New to the area and considering various place to live including Culdesac — would love to hear if anyone has any personal experiences living there that they would like to share.

A few tenants I talked to there really seemed to enjoy it, but numerous Google reviews make it sound like a horrible experience.

I like my chicken tenders with a light, but well done breading. Like, I want to see some dark brown, almost black action in that breading. It reminds me of how my grandma would cook frozen tenders in her fry daddy.

I don't want the chicken itself to be overcooked, just the outside. Is there anywhere that does this?

Have any of you received a photo enforcement citation where the "driver" was wearing a face mask and baseball cap or something similar?

Just wondering if the city of Tempe would even bother to issue the ticket since the driver is not clearly identifiable.

If so, what happened afterwards?

HVAC company that can add leak sealant and recharge my home AC

Just got the system diagnosed and of course the company is pushing me to replace the whole thing for 15k (starting). Anyone has any recommendations on who can add leak sealant and recharge the system? I’m trying to get it to limp throughout the summer and get it replaced in the off season.
Much appreciated.

Utilities average

Hello, I'm moving to your city in September for work and I'm excited to get settled. I'm currently looking for a long-term apartment and would appreciate any information you can provide on average utility costs for a 1-bedroom unit. Could you tell me what the average costs are for water, electricity, gas, sewer, trash, and internet, and perhaps cable/satellite. I'm trying to get a comprehensive understanding of what to expect. Thanks!
