Discussion If you find T8 is still ass, I encourage you to find other things you enjoy

I play this game maybe once a week and the insane super-good-panic-super-button mashing strategy melts my brain. Im getting steam rolled by characters like Lidia, Jun, AK, Victor, etc (Notice i said characters, since the players behind the controller is doing almost zero brain work piloting their character)

Since Season 2 i've hit the gym, got a girlfriend, and started playing GTA4 and RDR2 (for the first time). Please dont let T8 dominate your life. (I used to play t7 every day for hours on end since its original console release date and T8 pales in comparison to how much fun t7 was so to learn matchups and adjust mid-match to your opponent, slowly climb ranks, witness yourself actually improving, etc)

I've also discovered movies/film, David Lynch & Stanley Kubrik = peak. Thank you Murray, for making T8 so ass.

-GoD2 rank btw, if that matters

Discussion Top 5 in NA GoD+

Firstly I'd like to state the obvious that this is purely my opinion based on my experience. I'd love to be corrected with comments like "you can just do this and that" so that I'd learn.

  1. Kazuya

- strongest mind game + heavy dmg, extreme range, auto realignment, multiple wall rotation with just one move by auto realignmen

  1. Lili

- honestly don't know how to deal with her. She seems to have everything and looks to be punish free (keeps her at the safe distance where my punish would whiff and she'd punish my whiff again)

  1. Eddy

- Don't really know how to deal with him either. Very evasive and seems to get around most of my mid and lows without intention.

  1. King/Asuka

- have no answer for mixup grabs. Her oki's are so diverse.

  1. Claudio

- seems very fast recovery that I have no answer when they speed poke mixup like 12 then knee etc.

It's a weird top 5 and very different from how it was before Kuni patch. So far I haven't met any Kuni with no answers but eventually I might then it'll change again. How many of this would you agree and if not, what are the answers you have for the matchup?

The list is mostly based on how much I lose to them but not by loss rate. I have Xiaoyu as my lowest win rate but I understand that it's my fault and not the character. She's still annoying for sure and would've made to top 15.

His poking, throw game, range control and then this high crushing, range 2.5 CH launching low makes the matchup insufferable

hit tgs on kazuya, been playing tekken since t7 and have never gotten this high in ranked before. went on crazy win streaks in tekken king to tekken god and noticed that a lot of players on the road here rly lack fundamentals and i’ve only rly been challenged by players in GoD and above. feel happy that i made it to high rank but i was facing real tekken animals in blue rank in t7.

update: hit GoD, some matches have been with insane players and some are with rly bad players

Probably a common knowledge to a lot of you but my dumbass just couldn't piece it together until now.

You know when sometimes you can do full combo after the floor/wall break and sometimes they flung out so far that you can't?

Well I asked chatGPT exactly where and it didn't know either. However, it told me that the combo is scaled to 30% and stays there after 5 hits. So I thought that'd be a good point for combo to stop working.

And voila! Here's it is. You're safe until 4 hits!!

Salt 🧂 Tekken 8 Rant

I dont know how to even begin,
i am a Bryan TGS and i have a complete existential crisis. i dont do good mentally at the moment and i try to escape to tekken from time to time. the thing is i always neglected match up labbing for over a 1000h of playing but i do good against people with a little more honest characters and thats a lot of fun playing against. i sometimes get compliments aswell. but i highly struggle against bs from lower ranks that i just cant read. it seems they dont even know themselves what they do. this is making me furious and salty. i feel like i have to play at double the skill level to beat this playstyles.

ignore me and my friend on the background lol

P.S. I don't think it's this guy's problem not knowing what to do, it's the ranked system problem for letting him into GoD, he ran the full FT2 set, you gotta respect that

Help Complete noob trying to learn T8/King

Hey everyone I hope you are doing good! :)

Tekken 8 is my first 3D fighter but I play/played street fighters a lot so I have some knowledge of frames/punish/neutral, using SF6 as an example when I want to pickup a new character I try to learn their basic buttons, a BnB midscreen, a BnB on the corner and something basic for stun and progress from there.

Checking beginners guides for King on Tekken 8, they do teach some pokes but when it comes to punishes and combos I get a bit lost, and it's not clear to me if I need to learn all those long combos or if I should just learn one to begin with and progress from there too, sometimes people don't even put the notations on the screen xD

Maybe I'm just no used to how it works for Tekken and it's not clicking for me.

So, can you guys give me any tips on the basic things to learn from a character to start from there? If you guys have any valid guides for King also it would be amazing!

Thanks!

Edit: Omg thank you so much for the support and links! I'll go through them after work!

Progress My second GoD in Season 3

Post image
0 Upvotes

I reached God of Destruction with Steve Fox before, so this is my second GoD in Season 3.

My goal is to get every character in the game to GoD. My next target is Azucena.

I've seen people say that I only need to rank Steve up to GoD II, and every character will automatically be GoD. That's true, but honestly... where's the fun in that?

Sure, my Asuka or Azucena would technically have the GoD badge, but it would feel like nothing more than a PNG icon next to their names. It wouldn't feel earned.

So I decided to rank up every character manually instead.

Has anyone else tried getting GoD with multiple characters manually? Which character gave you the hardest time?

Help need help with flowcharts

genuinely sometimes i don't deserve my god rank and i still got bodied and got caught up by jun and victor players, i really thought i would best them by seeing their low defense just to get caught up by mashing and flowcharts.

just my rant and my question to you pro players, how do you deal against those? i try to disturb their mashing with b1 steve but sometimes it doesn't work.

Discussion What’s your experience been with leverless?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Recently saw a pro Steve player Gohannify talk about using leverless. I saw that video after seeing a stream clip of him hitting Steve’s just frame with ease. He then said as people in the comments were shocked “oh this regular for me gang”. I thought about getting leverless I’m just unsure about it.

My understanding of leverless is it makes things easier although you have to build muscle memory like anything else. I also know the consensus is it’s cheating. I can see how that’d be a belief and I honestly don’t care what people think.

So I’m wondering for those who have leverless.

How long was the transition from being terrible to good?

What kind do you have?

Is it durable and worth it in the end?

Discussion Miguel not being in Tekken 8 is such a shame, considering how it's gameplay perfectly fits his fighting style.

Post image

Imagine making a new Tekken game, where the core mechanics encourages to act aggressively and get up close constantly on your opponent's face.

And then not have one of THE characters in their roster, who's entire gameplay is to get up close, get in their personal space and brawl the living shit out of you - emitting that attitude of his that fit's his entire character.

Discussion Does anyone still play Tekken 7 online, or is it completely dead?

I know Tekken 8 is out and obviously everyone moved on to the shiny new game, but I honestly still love Tekken 7 so much.

To be fair, I’ve never played any of the older Tekken games, so I don’t know if they’re considered better. I actually downloaded Tekken 7 by chance a long time ago, and it’s the only one I own—and I ended up absolutely loving it.

But lately, playing online has been a test of patience. It takes FOREVER to find a match, and when I finally get paired with someone, one of two things happens:

1: They refuse any rematches and leave immediately after one round.

2: They literally plug/rage quit in the middle of the match.

Why is it so hard to just enjoy a few good casual rounds of T7 anymore? Is there still an active casual community for it, or is the online player base completely gone at this point?

Just wanted to vent a bit because it’s still such a fun game, and it’s sad seeing the lobbies so empty. Anyone else still hopping on T7 from time to time?
