asking for advice How can I make this better

Post image

I f*cking hate this tattoo. It was supposed to be a moon with a face, and I feel like it just doesn’t give moon. This picture is right after I got it 3 years ago, and it honestly settled nicely and looks a little less awkward now.

I feel like a cover up would be cheaper and easier than getting it removed. How can I change it without taking up too much of my arm. I lowkey don’t even want anymore tattoos. I was stupid pre-frontal lobe developing 🙍🏽‍♀️

I was thinking maybe making it a sun???

This was supposed to be a full back rework with some wicked illustrative dark roses going into the butt area and coming up a bit into the side of the thigh, my client never showed up to finish it up after we did a bit of work on the center part though 😞. I was just able to put some work on the portrait and add some shading/ extra detailing.

The before tattoo was not done by me. It was done by another artist ~7 years ago and he doesn’t tattoo anymore. The client had requested her cat in a suit and the other wearing pearls 💎
They also requested a color correction for the frame
Super happy with how this turned out!

~5ish hours of tattoo time

asking for advice Any ideas?

Got this done around 14 years ago, I'd just come out of a mentally abusive relationship and hadn't got the confidence to tell the tattooist that it wasn't 100% what I wanted.

I'm not particularly keen on the size of her arm or the empty insignia (it looks pink because I put some pink lip stain on it earlier and forgot), or that the scroll with 'Rebel' on doesn't seem part of the same tattoo.

Could it be fixed or would it work for a cover up, blast over or would it need laser?

Hi, looking for suggestions on best ways to cover up my sleeve, it’s a lot of grey wash and i am very bored of it. Open to pretty much anything other than japanese designs and floral designs. Big fan of horror, so something horror-related would be really cool if possible.
Thanks

asking for advice What should I do?

Post image

This is one of my tattoos and I don't like it. Photo is not mine, but design is the same.

I love Viking culture but this tattoo is a regret for me.

Honestly, all my tattoos except one are on my left arm. And I regret all of them except the ones on my right arm and left wrist. They seem like meaningless and poorly designed things. I don't even wanna show you.

I'm 23 btw and I got all my tattoos when I was 18.

I was in the depression, trying to be "edgy" and had an addiction to getting new tattoos (I guess for the dopamine and endorphin release) I trusted a tattoo "artist" who is a acquaintance and get it done cheaper.

I guesss I was just a stupid kid during the pandemic, going through depression, family problems, etc.

Tattoos I regret: a anime character tattoo on my forearm, the tattoo in the picture on the other side of my forearm, and a pretty big, poorly drawn "Girl with a Pearl Earring" on my left shoulder.

There is a small possibility maybe my tattoos aren't that bad, maybe I'm exaggerating, I don't know, but it's become a serious problem for me.

In the summers, I either wear long-sleeved shirts or a basketball sleeve on my left arm for a few years. Being nervous on first dates etc.

So stupid, yeah. What should I do? Cover-ups somehow or maybe getting blackout tattoo on part of my left arm because they don't look like the kinds of tattoos that can be removed easily with laser.

Of course, getting blackout tattoo might lead to another regret. I don't know what to do. I hope nobody else is in my situation. Thank you.

asking for advice Blobby Suns: A Plea for Help

Post image
Upvotes

I’ve got a couple small, blue suns on my chest from 10 years ago. They were originally done to cover a couple of dermal rejection scars, and while they weren’t done brilliantly in the first place, they’ve gotten so much sadder and blobbier over the years.

I’ve been dying to rework or cover them, but the little advice I’ve gotten so far has been to cover it with a big American traditional rose, but I’m very much not a fan of that style on me and am trying to avoid it at all costs.

I’m open to going bigger or even doing a fuller piece, as long as it’s not too cluttered or heavy looking. Colour or black, whatever would work best, is fine with me. I love animal imagery, especially crows/ravens and reptiles (I have a snake sleeve, too). I also love nautical and astronomical imagery. I’m even open to just an ornamental or geometric design, as long as it’s elegantly done.

I just don’t know what will work well or what to bring up to artists when asking their advice in person.

Any help is much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Got this nearly a decade ago when going through a religious phase (no shade at all!! I just don’t resonate with it anymore!) and would love recommendations on ways I could cover it up, besides just a black rectangle. TIA!

asking for advice Should I get a cover up by the same artist after my tattoo had some blow out?

So I got a tattoo on my arm that is really meaningful to me, but it ended up with some blowout on majority of it. Because of that, it doesn’t look the way I envisioned, and every time I see it, it just makes me a little sad. I do plan on having this tattoo relocated because of how much meaning it has.

I originally booked a cover-up with the same artist and paid the deposit, but I had to cancel for a completely unrelated reason. My husband didn’t know about the appointment and booked us a trip for the same dates.

Now that the appointment has passed, I’m second-guessing whether I even want to rebook. My biggest concern is ending up with more blowout and then not being able to cover it up or have to pay for removal (which no thank you). Almost everyone I’ve talked to has told me not to go back to the same artist.

The thing is, I really like her work. I have another tattoo by her that is absolutely everything I wanted and more. That’s what’s making this decision so difficult.

I also feel a little guilty. I already paid the deposit, and I’ve always tried to be a good client. I always tip generously. For example, I went in for a touch-up on the tattoo I love because of some fading around my ankle, and I tipped almost the full cost of the touch-up.

When I cancelled, I confirmed if she had started the design or not, it was a week before and she hadn’t yet. If she had and ultimately decided to go elsewhere, I would have sent her compensation for her time.

I guess I’m just looking for opinions. Would you give the same artist another chance, or would you find someone else for the cover-up?

asking for advice Just doesn't feel like me anymore

Post image

I originally got the line work done back in 2014, color was added in 2018. It's a highly stylized semi-colon (following the popular trend at that time to represent depression and suicide). I absolutely love the watercolor effect, but the semi-colon just isn't something I want to explain to people anymore, and the only other explanation is that it's just a paisley? It's pretty to look at, but I cringe at my 20 year old self for getting this MASSIVE piece now.

Trying to get some thoughts & ideas on what could cover this up, or rework what is there to make something new.

asking for advice Cover up ir remove?

Post image

I got this tattoo when I was 18, almost 20 years ago. I either want to cover it or remove it. What would the process look like (or what can I expect) for either? Any suggestions for designs? I dont have a specific style in mind. This is my only tattoo.

Located in Germany.
