Hi everyone, I’ll be in Moorea this September and we are hoping to swim with the humpback whales during our trip. We originally wanted to do a shared whale tour in the morning, but morning slots are completely sold out island-wide on 22 September.

We decided to secure a private charter on Tuesday, 22 September (AM slot) , since we read that mornings offer better water conditions and whale encounters. There's two of us, and we are hoping to find 1 or 3 more people to join us and split the cost evenly. If you're interested in joining us, please shoot me a DM.

I'm heading to Mo'orea late Sept/early Oct, and I have one full day/night in Tahiti before I fly home. I was originally planning to go scuba diving that day, but I've heard mixed reviews about diving around Tahiti and I'm wondering if it's worth it considering it's fairly expensive. Generally I believe every day out on the water is a good day, but I'm pushing up against the edge of my budget, so would like opinions on whether the diving there is worth the cost for an experienced and well traveled diver, or if there are other things I should consider doing with my one day.

Edit to clarify: I'm looking specifically for advice on diving in Tahiti, not Mo'orea

Has anyone purchased/read this book? I started following the authors months ago and I periodically checked online if it came out. I've always come empty handed until today. I saw that the book was presented in June in a library in Papeete, but there seem to be no way to actually buy it online. If anyone has any info about this I would be immensely grateful! Hello! I'll be arriving in a few days and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation about when to explore Tahiti Nui. I arrive late Tuesday, will pick up my rental car, and need to get over to Moorea the next day. I want to see the Polynesian dance show from the Miti Bar at Manava, which starts at 7:30. Does anyone know how early I should get to the bar to watch that show? Is getting there at 6:30 OK or is that too late to be able to get a spot to see?

I originally thought I would do a self-guided driving tour around Tahiti Nui on that first day but I'm worried that it won't leave me time to get to the 5pm ferry. On the last day of the trip, I fly out at 11:30 pm so would have the whole day to explore Tahiti Nui, or at least until the sun sets. The two guide books I have recommend approx 8 hours to do the circumference of the island including stops but it's hard to tell if that's an over or under estimate.

Thoughts on doing the island at the start or the end of the trip? I'm usually a flexible person but with the car, I do want to book my ferry tickets in advance to Moorea, since I will have the car.

Maybe a shot in the dark but let's see - my partner and I are visiting Mo'orea in Sept/October. We would absolutely love to do a full day private tour and found one available, but it's out of our budget to do it alone. It would be on Oct 2nd, total 235,000 xpf, and the boat takes a max of 4 people. We would love to find 2 other like minded ocean lovers who would be interested in splitting it with us. I'm an underwater photographer so if we get some good whale encounters I can probably take some awesome pictures of you too 😊

Hoping to have my PADI open water certification in place before our trip but in case we aren’t able to finish it - would you recommend a Tikehau snorkel tour or an intro dive? The intro dive is at the pass and goes up to 6m with an instructor. Our time is sadly a bit limited so we just want to have a nice time and see some cool fish and mantas, so if the snorkel tour is better, we’d rather just do that. Any thoughts appreciated and we cannot wait to visit Tikehau!

Tomorrow we depart Bora Bora, landing first in PPT and then, after a 5 hour layover, we fly to the US.

Can we check our luggage through as soon as we arrive from Bora Bora into PPT, so we are free to find something to do (go to an area hotel, etc) during our layover without taking our large luggage with us? TIA!

I’m not sure where to rent a motorcycle to explore the island—what do you recommend? I’ve already contacted Moorea Fun Bike and really liked their service—what’s your opinion?

Another thing—I’m looking for routes for the days I’ll have the motorcycle (for now, I’m thinking of renting it for 2 days). Everything I find mentions the Belvedere Lookout. Is it really as good as they say?

What local restaurants do you recommend? I’ve read about the Tropical Garden—they say the view is incredible!

This is my dream trip, and I’m afraid of missing out on amazing experiences because I haven’t done enough research.

I’m thinking of doing the half day tour. How was it? Are the roads safe?

Perhaps it is just me, but the constant and loud announcements in the international boarding gates are just too much. I happened to be at PPT when two flights were scheduled to depart at around the same time (LAX/CDG and HNL), and the constant loud announcements were extremely annoying. At times, it seemed like the Alaska and Air Tahiti announcers were competing with each other to see who could be louder, and passengers awaiting their flights were bombarded with loud, almost obnoxious, repetitive announcements. At one point, the person who was making announcements for TN tried to make an announcement is Spanish and it was almost comical, apart from being loud, as it was incomprehensible (I am a native speaker of Spanish).

I wish that there was a way for the announcements to be toned-down in the waiting area as the last thing that I want after having had a peaceful holiday is to be bombarded by loud announcements while awaiting my flight home. Perhaps a volume limiter and/or better training for staff in regards to making calm announcements are needed at PPT.

Hi all! I’m looking to validate my thinking on inter-island flights. I know there are flight passes with Air Tahiti, but they don’t seem to fit our intended itinerary.

See itinerary below. My question is: when flying from Fakarava to Bora Bora, one needs a layover in PPT. The full flight FAV-BOB shows up on google flights and similar, but on Air Tahiti I need to book them as separate tickets, and I see that minimum connection time is 45min for domestic/domestic transfers. So: am I protected against any delays or missed connection to Bora Bora, as long as I book separate tickets which have at least 45min connection time? What happens if there is a delay? There are options with 2-3 hours layover in PPT as well, which we could do, but I would of course prefer a ~1h layover provided that is safe.

I’d like to do the following:
1. Land on PPT from my international flight in the morning, stay one night
2. Next morning fly directly to Fakarava where we will be scuba diving for a few days.
3. After Fakarava, fly to Bora Bora. The reason for this order is well just want to chill in a resort on BB, which I think fits perfectly after some days of diving = tired 😊 I understand that this requires a stop in PPT, which is what I’m unsure about how to manage.
4. After BB, go to Moorea either by plane to MOZ, or to PPT+ferry
5. Finally, back to PPT for our international flight back home
