Question How to Tell How Long Stored Oxygen & Water Lasts?
In the previous version the UI showed you how long stored water and oxygen will last. Now the UI has a line that says "Stored Oxygen Lasts" and "Stored Water Lasts" but there just a dash for the result. Does anyone know how to get this to show how long each will last? Is there a tech that unlocks it? I Googled it but couldn't find anything.

Question Filter and colonist woes
Hi all. Beseeching the community for some support. I have the OG surviving Mars and a few of the DLC (up to green mars I think). I am 98 sols in and have a good thing going, but increasingly spend my time managing colonists and their bizarre behaviour. I have:
- medics leaving a perfectly good infirmary to go and work in a diner in another dome.
- children not following filters to the kinder dome and instead staying put and getting miserable.
- engineers not seeking vacant engineer jobs in domes with housing and vacant engineer posts.
- children leaving the kinder dome en masse to move to a newly built done with no services.
- an inability to pin colonists to jobs, resulting in services frequently running without staff as they move about.
I think I have my filters set up correctly but it is deeply frustrating. I don't have tunnels between domes and most are fairly close together bar a few outposts. I have shuttles specifically to transport people.
was enjoying the game up to this point and can deal with aberrant behaviour if I was able to get people to stay put once I have moved them, but they just keep moving about.
any pointers, tips or sympathy much appreciated!

Discussion Challenge Modes broken?
I think this happened before when doing challenges. I'm on A New Nation. Wiki says Rocket Scientist profile. Game rule: endless supply.
However it's also given me Last ARK meaning I can't send any more colonist. It's also randomised my tech tree so Chos Theory or Tech Variety (not sure how to tell the difference).
I'm still gonna go for the challenge, I did before and the challenge secured. I have Positronic brain breakthrough, so I just just need the drone assembly (which i don't know how long until) and I'm hoping androids count as colonists in this challenge.
My only problem is if I can't unlock drone assembly before my starting colonists expire...

Bug Save broken ps5 standard
Edit: relaunched version
Every time I try to load my 300 sol save, it loads for 5 seconds and then just almost bugs out and gives me a black screen, but the music from the menu stays playing
I’m on sol 300 doing the max 1215% challenge and really happy with my progress, got only 200 colonists and 200 drones, and like 30 shuttles maybe, and 5 trains. I’ve only read of peoples games becoming laggy/buggy with 1000+ colonists. So I’m not sure what’s going on
I was having some issues on the save recently, where it would play super smooth like butter, but then every 60 seconds or so my game would freeze for like 10 seconds, like the frame rate got reduced to 1. Anyone know what’s going on? Any suggestions for a fix or have had this issue before? Would appreciate any help because I was really having fun with this one

SM - Relaunched I built a Coordinate Mapper and Breakthrough Predictor web app

This web app has 3 parts
In the Map you can preview landing locations and overlay maps for specific threats, resources, etc
In Finder you can scroll through the database and use filters
Breakthrough: Because Relaunched introduces branching breakthrough choices, this tool predicts the sequence of choices for a specific seed

SM - Relaunched Sons and Daughters of Mars
After a few hundred hours with the original, I finally played Relaunched and really loved the updates, particularly having a politics system and a way to achieve independence. Always felt the lack of a political system was a real weak spot in the original.
The trains actually working is also a great upgrade, speaking as a rail fan is was a lot of fun to actually connect my entire colony together in a transportation network together with outlying mining operations to make the whole thing feel coherent instead of a bunch of islands. Also really appreciate the permanently captured asteroids, made me feel like I could properly put down roots on the best ones without a countdown clock.
My only real complaints are that, while I really like the politics system overall, I wish I understood better how to manipulate it and build support for the different parties. The game also went past being fun as I waited for the vegetation missions to get to 100% terraforming. This was far and away the biggest pain point for me when playing the original and I'd like a way to speed it up in the relaunched version because waiting around after accomplishing everything else was a but boring.

Suggestion New mystery idea for feeding the future
I've been thinking about the upcoming Feeding the Future DLC for Surviving Mars, and I feel like it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a new Mystery centered around food production.
Working title: Life from the Red Planet
My idea is that humanity accidentally awakens or discovers a native Martian organism. At first it looks like a fungus contaminating hydroponics and farms, but it's actually something much stranger—almost animal-like in its behavior. It spreads through food production and forces the colony to deal with an evolving biological threat rather than a simple disease.
I think this could create some really interesting gameplay:
.The fungus would contaminate the food and potentially even the whole dome through spores.
. contaminated food may cause physical or mental issues
.Contaminated domes will need to be quarantined.
.Colonists leaving infected domes would have to pass through decontamination facilities.
Connected passages, transported food, or even drones could become ways for the organism to spread.
.building one giant farming dome would suddenly become risky, while multiple smaller food-producing domes would provide redundancy
It could also have some cool lore behind it. Maybe this is the first native multicellular life ever discovered on Mars, dormant beneath the surface until humans brought heat, water, and organic material.
Instead of simply destroying it, perhaps the player could eventually choose between eradicating it or learning to coexist with it for unique benefits.
I don't have all the mechanics figured out, but I think it could make for a Mystery that's less about surviving a single disaster and more about adapting your colony design and logistics over time.
What do you all think?

Bug I love this game when it works. How do I make it do that consistently?
I have Surviving Mars Below and Beyond. I am on the PS4. My add-ons are
Mysteries Resupply Pack,
Green planned,
Project Laikia,
Colony Design Set,
Space Race,
Mars vision Song Contest,
In-Dome Buildings Pack,
and Picard.
I am on sol 326. I have one active asteroid, I have barely built anything underground (built the elevator and moved approximately 100 total supplies downstairs then mostly forgot about it), and I have actively avoided starting terraforming because I wanted to save that for later. I have almost the entire tech tree researched, save for about seven terraforming technologies, one breakthrough, and the two repeatable money technologies.
About nineteen out of twenty times of saving the game freezes while saving, and then after about fifteen minutes crashes and corrupts the save. I have four saves. I have copied the saves to USB, uninstalled the game, rebuilt the PS4 index, reinstalled the game, and copied the saves back from USB to the system, and the problem persisted. I even did all that but started all over again, and it still has problems after 300 sols.
Please help, I really love this game, but it is unplayable with a hard sol limit of 300, and if I have no chance of finishing the game I have to abandon it and I *really* don't want to have to do that, I absolutely adore this game!

Generation bug
This is the first time I've seen such a bug, when a triangular shaped cavity appears in the dungeon. And the dome fits perfectly there.

Modding Do these mods exist yet for Relaunched?
Decided to come back to Relaunched again and find it a bit more stable and less annoying but two mods from the Original I was hoping had finally made it.
Automated Tradepad, so annoying having to click accept offer each time. With automated tradepad it would accept for you and extend how the hours between each "offer".
Don't remember what it was called but it was a mod that allowed you to see the boundaries of the dome/ hubs when placing other buildings down.
Annoying how this isn't just built into the vanilla game.

Question Natural Disasters?
Hey so curious if anyone found a solution to a bug my partner and I are experiencing or if we should wait for the next patch. We both play on separate PCs. We generally put all natural disasters at max. In our games we'll get one dust storm early in game and then meteor storms that rarely hit even near our settlements nothing else happens the entire game. We both reported it separately, however curious if anyone experienced this and if so if they may have come across a solution. Obviously thanks in advance!

Discussion Should I buy relaunched?
So I have played this game on PS4 and PS5 hundreds and hundreds of hours until a couple of years ago, including most add-ons like green planet, trains and Laika, and whas contemplating to start playing it again.
Apparently there is a relaunched version. However it costs 40 dollars, and the ultimate version even more. I'm in doubt if this price is justified. Wat do you think, should I buy it or just keep playing the original version? Or wait for a sale?

Question Map terrain finder for Relaunched?
Surviving Maps . space doesn't work for Relaunched, they must have changed the way maps were assigned to coordinates. Is there any alternative at this point? All I seem to find for steep coordinates is that stupid center canyon that I've played a million times.

Question How to get DLCs for original version?
I got the original Surviving Mars gifted 6 years ago, downloaded it recently for the first time and enjoyed it quite a lot. Today I wanted to look for DLCs and surprise... they're gone.
How do you get the DLCs? There must be some way.

Question Do clinics still lower birth requirements?
I'm doing my first playthrough of Relaunched.
I'm on Sol 31, about 50 colonists from earth, and am still yet to have a martianborn. I have clinics in both of my domes, both of them staffed.
The comfort in both domes is not an average of 75, but I remember from the original game that clinics lowered the comfort requirement for births down to I believe 55.
Is this no longer a thing in relaunched, or am I facing a bug here?
I've never had any problem with birthrates in the original version of the game. This is actually the first time I've ever had to wait the full 10 sols for the founder stage.
Edit 1: not sure what's going on at this point. I have 85+ comfort with 8 available residences and still haven't had any kids born over 10 sols later. I've included an image of my dome, maybe someone else sees what I can't.
Edit 2: Must have just been a bug. I started over, same settings as before, same map, and had martiaborn within a few sols of my colonists landing. Thanks everyone for the help, I appreciate it.

Question Is this game fun?
Maybe a bit stupid thing to ask on game's subreddit, but I like the vibe of the game but not sure if I should get it as it have a lot of negative reviews on steam page. Not sure if it is due to released thingy that pissed off players or if the game is not in the good shape. I live other paradox games, stellaris is one of my favorite ones, also like colony builders - got a lot of hours in games like rimworld.

Question Destroy underground elevator
How can I destroy a underground elevator ?
I placed it facing a direction I don't like. Unfortunately, even when disconnected from everything and completely emptied of resources, the destruction button doesn't appear.
Is this normal?

Question Graphic Glitch with Passage Hub mod
I haven't played in a couple of months, but I got the itch again, and fired it up a couple of days ago. I have 4 Trigon domes arranged in a square. I was going to use the Passage Hub to connect to all of them, but when I build it I could still see the Martian ground and not the dome like one. I have made sure the mod is upto date, but I am at a loss.

[1.0.7.396501] Jumbo Cave Reinforcements permanently stuck at "The construction site is being cleared"
Game version
- Surviving Mars: Relaunched
- Version 1.0.7.396501
- Steam
- No mods installed
- New game (started after updating to 1.0.7)
Map
- Underground map: Sirenium Alpha
Mystery
Jumbo Cave
Description
I discovered the Jumbo Cave and progressed through the mystery normally.
I completed three Structural Test anomalies using an RC Explorer, reducing the construction cost of the Jumbo Cave Reinforcements.
After placing the Jumbo Cave Reinforcements, the construction never starts.
The building remains permanently in the state:
No construction materials are ever delivered.
Drone behaviour
All drones assigned to the Drone Hub behave the same way:
- Task: Going to: Waste Rock
- Carrying: Nothing
- They walk toward the reinforcement site.
- They stop near the middle support of the reinforcement.
- They turn around without picking up anything.
- They repeat this forever.
The drones do not carry Concrete, Metals or Exotic Minerals because the clearing phase never finishes.
Things I already tried
- Save and reload
- Restart the game
- Cancel and rebuild Jumbo Cave Reinforcements
- Complete three Structural Test anomalies
- RC Commander next to the site
- Highest construction priority
- Plenty of available drones
- Enough resources
- Waste Rock storage nearby
- Train Station nearby (no change)
- No mods
- Fresh installation
- Current Steam version
Nothing changes.
Additional information
There is no visible progress indicator for the clearing phase.
The reinforcement never progresses beyond:
The drones never actually collect any Waste Rock.
I suspect the clearing task or Waste Rock target for the Jumbo Cave Reinforcements is invalid, causing drones to continuously attempt the task without ever entering the clearing interaction.

Question How does this game RNG work?
I'm doing the Challenges.
If I play a challenge, from what I can tell the map and deposits are the same each time I start the challenge.
What about cold waves, will they occur at the exact same SOL, or is there a random chance they happen between SOL 1 and SOL 10, for example?
If it's random, is it generated from a seed number for that save game, i.e. if I restart the map or go back to a save earlier, will a cold wave or event always happen at the exact same point, or will there be a chance it's different.
What about breakthrough techs, are they chosen at the beginning of the game or is it some random choice during it, because I've gone back a few save games and it still gives me the same options to choose from when I scan anomalies, is that going to be the same if I restart the challenge.
Just trying to work out if it's possible to work out the exact order of things so you can 'speed run' the challenges or not (I'm not into that but I have had to cancel my Terrafinito challenge because of the Space Seeding mission not respawning quick enough and I ran out of time, I tried going back 100 days and it seemed to take the same time to respawn, even though wiki says there's a range of time it takes to respawn (is wiki correct in this?)_.
