Last year I picked up a SUP board from Decathlon during my remote work weeks in Algarve, in Portugal. I'm from here, but have since moved to another EU country.

I've been taking my board down to the beach every day or so, sea conditions allowing, and I have been having a blast. I don't really do much SUP'ing, mostly on my knees or sitting down, go further from the beach and just breathe, either sitting or laying down, while listening to the sea noises. Even just that has been amazing and worthwhile!

Now I've been trying to stand on my board but either get too wobbly and fall, or it seems my board bends a little too much as if it wasn't fully filled (I used an electric pump to get it to 15 PSI as the manufacturer recommends not going higher than that). I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

I only regret not having started years ago. This has been a blast.

Thinking of buying a SUP with a sail :D anyone has any expierence with this? Is it worth it? Thanks guys!

Pulled the trigger on a new board my jobe Yarra 10.6 did me well for 4 years, after a lot of reading i decided to go for the red ride 10.6 living so close to where they are made helped the decision as well. First outing tomorrow 👌

I've been loving my Thurso all-arounder for the past 4 years; strictly lakes and lazy rivers, no ocean nearby unfortunately. Looking to add a second SUP (must be inflatable) so I've always got one for someone else to use, and wondering what other types I should be considering - touring?

I'm 5'6 and 160 pounds and typically spend 1-4 hours out on the lake. I like being on nice, calm water and cruising and I'm really experienced with being able to paddle a straight line without switching sides too often, no balance issues and I don't really struggle even when the big rolling waves come my way. I've been wondering about adding one of Thurso's 12'6" thinner touring board. Not so much to pack more gear, but for some more fun just cruising when I'm out paddling the lake by myself.

I am just back from incredible vacation. Ukok Plateau is usually visited by foot on 20 days hard tracking trip. But there are a few comfortable car tours, on mine they had 2 sups and 2 kayaks, so I got a chance to paddle on a couple of rivers and lakes.

This one is very shallow, so no fin. But it is cold! In a couple of places it was barely wide enough for sup.

Hi all,

I’m replacing the fin box on my Carta Marina soon and want to make sure the new box goes on completely straight to keep the board from tracking to one side in the water.

Since the original box is still on the board, I want to trace or extend its reference lines fore and aft before taking it off. That way, I’ll have clear guide lines ready when positioning the new patch.

A couple of questions for anyone who’s done this:

1. What’s the best way to trace/project/extend the existing fin box line down the center?
2. What tool works best on PVC without leaving a permanent mess? (Painter’s tape, grease pencil, chalk?)

Any tricks or alignment hacks would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Holliday in montenegro and so happy I brought my paddelboard. Stand up paddeling on the sea is much more difficult then I expected.

Any good reputable review channels or sites that you all would recommend?

New to the hobby, and I'll eventually want to upgrade my very cheap kit. Figure I can get a jump on research and learning more about all the bits, bobs, and accessories for now, while eyeing the more expensive boards and figuring out what style I end up wanting to pursue.

Also looking for good channels/sites in general with information on SUP technique, how-tos, etc., more general information than just product reviews.
