Simple Questions & Answers Thread Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.13

Hello summoners!

In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple or championpool/role questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar!

What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself.

Questions about what champ to add to your pool or general tip about roleswapping can also be asked in this thread.

Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here.

What you can do to help!

For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted every time a new patch is released. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Announcement Moderator Applications: Summer 2026

Hi everybody,

Summer is upon us, and you know what's wonderful about the summer? Community! Barbecues, beach parties, long days with family and friends, and of course losing LP together into the early hours of the morning! And speaking of community, it's time to add some new moderators to ours.

Whether you are iron or challenger, have tons of time or only a little, use desktop or mobile, we're looking for people invested in SummonerSchool who would like to contribute to keeping it the friendly and educational space that it is.

This year, as in past rounds, we will be accepting applications through use of google form: Mod Application 2026

We welcome all to apply! Seriously, apply, and if you change your mind you can always withdraw your application by letting us know via modmail. As a volunteer gig, this is not a heavy time commitment and you can be as flexible with your time as you need to be. Whether you are accepted or rejected, we are grateful for the applications, and I promise we'll let you down gently in the latter case!

There are very few hard restrictions, all of which are mentioned in the form, and none of which relate to your rank or game knowledge. The only thing to know up front is that you must be willing to mod with old reddit, not new. This year we are especially looking for mods in European and OCE time zones, but we welcome applications from anyone, anywhere!

Another Application Link for Convenience :)

And just as a reminder, we're always happy to receive any feedback or suggestions of improvements that could be made to subreddit. - Just send in a ModMail and we'll take it into consideration.

Happy climbing!

Question ["Guide"] Why don't I climb - quick 2min self check

Every other post in this thread about "why do I not climb" seems to follow the same pattern:

Someone complaining about 'random irrelevant fact's and saying that they don't understand why they don't climb.

Eventually someone is posting their OP.GG and you see the real reason.

So save yourself posting here by making a 2min selfcheck.

1) low Elo - extremely high champ count

2) playing every role in low Elo

3) forcing a champ to work

I have seen this more often than I care to admit. 50+ champs played in one season while being in Bronze.

Here is the hard truth: you are not as good as you think you are.

You can't play all these champs, know their matchups, the powerspikes, the skills.. if you do, you wouldn't be in Bronze.

What you are saying is "imma bet I am better than my opponent whole playing on a random champ with no clue about the matchup, skills, powerspikes, items while my enemy plays their main they played over 100-200 times already".

It shows very poor self reflection.

Also when looking at your stats on op.gg I keep seeing people forcing a single champ they got a 40% winrate on. You played about 30-40 games on the champ in ranked paired with bad kda.. consider dropping the champ.

Yes I can be a bad streak or screwed results du to low games, however there is an indicator here as to which way it tends to go. Also.. you want to climb.

Especially when you got another champ sitting on 55% winrate with more or the same amount of games. Not an iron clad rule - but an indicator.

The stats tell you a story. Yeah it may change and it may click at some point. But if your goal is to climb you need to take stats into account.

So:

- limit your champ pool

- play one role

- don't learn a champ and expect to win. You either learn or climb. Both should not be expected

Discussion Playing a champ you’re good at but find boring vs. playing a champ you find fun but have to learn from the ground up

Title. I’m in a pickle because I really want to climb and would probably be able to do so decently consistently on Diana (I used to one-trick her; around mastery 60 and played her for probably 700 games with a 54% wr for a year straight, and got way better at macro since I last grinded with her on Ranked), but now I just find her… Boring. I can carry games on her and she’ll always be in my heart but I have a hard time having fun playing her anymore; in fact that’s what made me quit playing Ranked at all last year.

On the contrary, I love playing Ryze right now but I have, like, 20 Normal games on him. I have a vague understanding of his powerspikes and playing style; I understand what he’s supposed to do, but I of course suck at executing it. I’d prefer climbing on him but I kind of don’t want to spend months getting good at him just to get out of Silver.

What would you do here? I kind of want to at least grind to Gold on Diana just to tell myself I did it, but I really aimed for higher for myself.

Question How good are Diamond players?

Kind of an open ended question.

Currently hardstuck Emerald IV JG.

I'm at the point where I feel very confident I can carry plat games reliably and I can definitely see a lot of the flaws in Emerald players. But Emerald feels like the place that any specific flaw you have in your gameplay starts to filter you. So even if you're better than everyone in the lobby at most things, you're only as good as your worst quality as a player.

In competitive gaming, there's usually a point where players stop having obvious flaws and it's just that people start doing things better and better.

Where is that point? Around Diamond 2? Or is that Masters/GM level? Obviously better and better players will have a more clear vision on "what a mistake is".

Question New Player - How to fight as bruiser into the late game ?

Newish player - Jungle - Shyvana main

How do you handle team fights in general especially late game as a bruiser/fighter character that doesn't have many movement options ? Currently how I try to do it as Shyv is take it slow and hover the enemy team and try to find a hole and ult in on a vulnerable squishy.

The issues I have with this is as Shyv after using ult you're kind of done with movement and very susceptible to being kited and CCd, it's especially annoying against a team with many escape abilities.

Eg. Recently had a game where enemy team had Vayne top, Ezreal carry, Ahri mid and it felt impossible to catch anyone, even if I hold dragon until I see a movement ability go off, a flash can get them away and now I have to go charge dragon again before I can engage into anything.

Tips and tricks pls

Question how do I actually improve my hands?

Longtime Jinx main sitting in Gold trying to hit plat. My macro is legit my strong point (I watch way too much league) and if I get to mid game even I usually start taking over, but I'm too passive in lane and when I do play forward I die in greedy wave situations, I know that's my biggest fix. Beyond that though I just want better mechanics, for climbing but also for pride lol. If my hands are average, how do I get them to a decent place? Practice tool routines, kiting drills, whatever actually worked for you. Hoping for tips for the mechanical grind specifically. I do have access to buddies who are plat/diamond if there are actual helpful 1v1 scenarios you'd recommend.

Question What is “Baz”?

I played a game and the cait was asking for “baz”. He said right at the end of the game “use baz…come mid” while I was with them. The enemy team realised that our team was not grouping to defend and we died so then he said “I guess Baz is just an accessory”.

We were in role order of Darius, fiddle, Morde, cait and Soraka.

Edit: Thank you everyone, can confirm we did have Baron. Seems that it is an uncommon nickname for baron nashor as I learned his nickname to be Nash. Reminder why pings can be more useful than chat!

jungle I play mid and jungle. What do you guys do when the other lanes get fed?

By "fed," I mean really fed. What am I supposed to do when both my support and ADC die like 12 times (possibly even more) before 15 minutes? They lose their tower, and the moment it falls, the enemy bot lane rotates mid. I lose all mid priority. I can try to split push, but then we lose both mid towers, and we probably won't get a single dragon either.

I mainly play Quinn and Gwen, and sometimes Irelia. With Quinn, I can start making plays once I hit level 6, but with Gwen I feel like I can't do much early. The only thing I can really do is play my lane until late game or look for objective fights.

Even if I manage to help my bot lane, how am I supposed to deal with the enemy top laner? Most of the time they're already 2 or 3 levels ahead of me.

I know I can't win every game, but what can I realistically do when this seems to happen almost every game? How do you guys approach situations like this?

Question How to increase damage dealt as a jungler?

I've played league mostly in HS and college and am now dipping my toes back with a friend, currently low plat. I feel like my pathing and my CS/M (around 6.5-7) are okay but for the bruisers that I tend to play my damage dealt stat is rather low.

I've always justified it as not attempting ganks and skirmishes that have low odds of succeeding and focusing on doing something that either puts myself and team ahead either by raw gold or by tempo (i.e. taking neutrals, clearing vision, invading opposite, helping bad wave states). But I also noticed that my damage numbers are a lot more normal in losing games, where I have an individual lead and am taking more risky plays and aggressive plays to bring the game back.

For reference my most played are Nocturne and Wukong this season and both don't really want to fight without their ult, when I have my ult I look for ganks after a full clear. Do I just have to learn to strike a balance between dropping camps and taking fights and focusing on full clears? Any higher elo junglers that also play these champs could elucidate me on your balance?

Discussion GM EUW PLAYER MACRO CONCEPT: "PROPOSAL SEQUENCING"

MACRO CONCEPT: "PROPOSAL SEQUENCING"

Hey everyone! I'm a Grandmaster player on EUW and I'm starting to get into coaching.

I want to share simple macro concepts that can help people improve without overcomplicating the game. If you want further insights, feel free to DM me.

Today's concept is "Proposal Sequencing."

This concept assumes you already understand the basics of macro such as lane assignments, resets, and objective timers. The goal is to improve how you communicate those ideas through your movement.

Every macro play starts with a proposal.

Before committing, communicate your intention through your body language: your movement, positioning, recall, or pings. Then watch your teammate's response.

For example, if you want to reset with your jungler to reopen the topside, ping your recall and start basing. If your jungler also bases, your proposal is accepted and you naturally synchronize your tempo. If not, adapt instead of forcing the original plan.

The same idea applies to dives, invades, rotations, Baron calls, or simply waiting together in a bush.

High-level macro isn't just about making the right decision. It's about sequencing your proposal, reading your teammates' response, and committing only when the play becomes shared.

Jungle New to the Rift (< 20 games, 1 ranked). What are some general "Do's and Don'ts" of Jungle?

So, I've decided to start playing on the Rift over ARAM and Arena. Been playing for about 1.5 - 2 years. I picked Jungle as my starting roll mainly because Briar is my main and most comfortable champ.

I've noticed I'll get pinged for walking through Mid while they're farming wave, or when I gank (even if we get the kill). I try to avoid the wave if I'm crossing Mid, and get told I'm throwing for not killing the wave on the tower if mid isnt there. I'm worried I am missing some sort of etiquette when I go into lanes.

Mainly, I've been working on watching the mini map, speeding up my clears, and watching for objectives. My warding game is bad, not sure who I'm supposed to ward for. Also, how do you know when to stop farming camps and start trying to kill towers? Am I even supposed to take tower plates, or does that hurt my laners CS? There's so much to learn for a single role :/

support Supports who managed to climb out of bronze/silver as a support, what did you do?

I find it hard to believe that the only way for a support in bronze silver to climb is to change role, supposedly because at low elo supports lack the agency to 1v9. Yet that's what I read on some posts. So this post is for the Sonas, Tarics, Sorakas etc who managed to stay true to their champs and climb out of bronze and silver with them. What did you do? Could be a champ-specific advice or a role-specific advice btw.

Question what's a champion that will teach me how to "carry"?

as a precursor - i'm not looking for a champion to carry me through low elo's, but i'm more looking for somebody that will teach me the fundamentals of translating power into winning conditions.

i main jungle and mid, and climbing surprisingly fast from iron to silver after a very long time away from this game. i've noticed my old issues are coming back and that that my biggest weakness is i don't know what to do with my strength when the early game turns into midgame.

typically i'll have a very strong early game but start mechanically falling off after that. i'm not great at dueling even when i'm fed, or applying pressure on the map outside of jungle objectives. i kind of just end up dawdling and end up farming the jungle and ganking my lanes which seems to get less effective over time as the match goes on.

for mid i play katarina, ahri, and akali. for jungle i play diana, nocturne, and shyvana. i do the best of shyvana and nocturne, but i have trouble with snowballing with the ultimate-oriented playstyles with shyvana and nocturne and helping my team.

Question Is there much I can do for having terrible reaction speed?

I am unfortunately getting older and my already mediocre reactions are suffering. For example I am failing to Jax E against Garen Q, various telegraphed skillshots with Sivir E, not being able to flash Malphite ults, stuff like that.

I've been able to keep myself just barely in E4 (peaked D2 in like S8-9) and honestly it sucks and I feel like I'm eating shit for no reason. Having more real life commitments on top means I don't have much time to grind, either. I have to relegate myself to low execution champions like I'm trying to climb as an iron player.

Do I have to just accept this is my fate?

mage How to pilot mage top?

RIght now I am looking through a lot of different stats for champions in different roles. I see that a lot of mages actually have really strong win rates in top lane vs in mid lane where they normally are.

Mages are always something I've enjoyed playing midlane and I'm wondering how I can transition it to top lane.

Some champs that currently interest me are Annie, Lissandra, and Anivia

What changes going from mid lane to top lane?

I hover around Emerald elo currently

Question Is teleport even usable right now?

Subjectively, teleport has been feeling really bad for me this season. It makes almost no difference mid as the lane is already so short and it just loses you the lane top if they have ignite. Its also so hard to find wards to teleport to when a fight breaks out.

Objectively, I looked up some top laners on coachless and even tanks like Ornn (who historically loved TP) win significantly more with ignite now.

Is teleport still at least usable this season or do I put myself at a significant disadvantage by picking it? In top especially, I feel like I lose the entire lane to ignite.

Question New to unlocked cam, should I disable mb3 drag cam?

Hi I’m a bronze/iron adc player who decided to play only unlocked 2 days ago and it’s working fine(except for it murdering my zeri). 99% of my camera control is with mb3 drag as that’s how I controlled my camera in StarCraft II as well so it’s more natural. Whenever I lookup unlocked cam stuff tho it’s all with pushing the screen edge. Is that objectively better and should I make myself do that too or is it preference?

Jax Jax Champion Identity

Hi, I’ve been getting back into the game since one of my friends just started. I used to play a lot in S10 and S11, and the only two champs I really played a lot were irelia and jax.

I was trying to play jax, and he feels a lot different than before (last time I played him was when you built BORK + divine sunderer/triforce mythic), so I was wondering what his champion identity is. From what I’ve seen he seems to now be more of a midgame champion now, but are there builds that let him still be that hyperscaling duelist who doesn’t lose sidelane 1v1s (or 1v2s depending on enemy comp)? How well does he scale now with the normal builds and what are his main win conditions with those builds? And how good are the AP jax builds, since I’ve seen some of those.

Jayce What is spacing and how to do it like a high elo player would? (low elo Jayce Main)

Hello everyone, basically the title. I would like to rank up but I need to learn the fundamentals and one of them is probably spacing.

Heard that spacing is more important on ranged champions compared to melee but melew definitely still be very useful. I play jayce mainly and sometimes I still get caught by a Morde or Sett even with Storm Rush, I would like to change that.

So what is spacing? What are the advantages of a player who knows spacing vs someone who doesn’t? How to do it consistently? some tips and tricks to improve on it.

Thank you everyone in advance.

Discussion Climbed from Silver to Plat in 2–3 weeks, Aiming for Emerald

Hey everyone
I’ve been grinding solo queue for the last 2–3 weeks and managed to climb from Silver to Platinum. It feels great to finally be making consistent progress but i feel i am starting to plateau. (108 games played so far)

My goal now is to hit Emerald, and I’m planning to one-trick Syndra for the climb (got here as Syndra/Vlad main). I’ve also been trying to play with a lot more intensity—really focusing every game instead of autopiloting, reviewing mistakes, and actively thinking about my decisions.

For those of you who’ve made the climb from Plat to Emerald (or higher), what helped you the most?
Any guides, YouTube channels, educational streamers, or Syndra-specific resources you’d recommend? I’m open to any advice—macro, laning, wave management, mid-game decision making, mental, or anything else that helped you improve.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion How to play midgame

Recently ive been playing a ton of riven top, and midgame has been one of the toughest things for me to grasp.

Most of the time I don’t suck in lane, I can generate a cs lead if and/or kills if the matchup is manageable.

But when it comes to the midgame, I have no idea how to convert the lead. I feel strong, but enemy sidelaner will perma push waves, I have zero vision on enemies, so it’s also difficult to look for kills when the risk is apparent. I can push over and over again but if they just collect waves and farm, I can never really punish.

Then my teammates overextend, even before objectives. One pushed waves, one raptors camp, one ward they want to clear, someone will end up getting caught out.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone makes mistakes, and I have lots of shitty games too, but I don’t know what to do if i cant progress my lead and get out scaled by nearly every other toplaner. Even worse when enemy comp has one button to press to lock me down to the point it gets really difficult to play team fights. It always feels like when I want to split and shove waves to look for plates, the enemy is always able to send someone to meet me while getting a pick on the opposite side of the map, not to mention my mid and adc love to group mid and leave sidelanes unattended.

I’m not trying to rant, but I would like advice on how to capitalise on such situations to grow my lead, especially when i don’t have full vision of enemy team/they hardly overstep.

One more thing is when to swap/which ward to get. Normal wards feel solid when I split cuz of the faelight spots, if I switch to sweeper to try to look for picks then I don’t get vision, and blue trinket just never feels right unless we don’t have prio to an obj.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Question Unconventional advice that got YOU out of emerald?

So I have been hovering around the depths of mid emerald, and I am trying my best to identify my mistakes and improve.

However I was curious to those who have made it to diamond and above.. what’s one or more unconventional tips that helped you ascend?

Not the typical focus on CS, decision making, champ mastery etc. I’m curious to hear things people don’t talk about enough when climbing to the higher elos.

Discussion Decent CSM but bad GPM

Hi all. Using blitz addon to track my stats during the game. I have been doing decent in cs (usually ~100 by 12 min mark) but I still find myself incredibly poor. My blitz addon shows that my csm is approx 50% higher than what is expected for my rank, yet my gold is always a comfortable 25% below what it should be (expected ~300 for ex. but have 225)

I only play tristana bot lane and rarely find time/ the opportunity to take from their jungler

critical info: very new to league

support Need help learning some stuff in support

I'm a new support player coming from toplane " been a top laner for 3 years, bruiser main "

I like Thresh, Pyke, and been thinking about Alistar, I could like him, what else do you think I'll have fun playing?

I also need some tips, as I sometimes pick fights that seem like a good fight but we end up losing " even minions, even hp bars, even lvl, basically even lane. ", and what to do with overly " play safe " adcs who don't respond to my engages, since I'm mainly an engage support main

and when do I roam?

if my adc ints and dies on roams, even if he is very decently ahead, do I give up roaming to prevent him from getting behind and to maintain his lead?
