I'm sure it's been said before, but my little 2005 preteen heart is breaking to see my sweet, misunderstood Mr. Darcy being treated so roughly by this ginger-haired harlot. How dare she. I'm only on S1E8, hoping she has a moral epiphany and starts treating my tender man the way he deserves.

I learned today that in 1969, Ted Kennedy had a car accident which resulted in the drowning (or suffocation) of his passenger, which he failed to report until 10 hours later. Very similar to Kendall's accident. Probably not news to some of you, but I thought it was interesting to read about how this played out in real life.

By timeline, I mean a rough guide as to the dates that each show takes place because I know the show takes place over 2 years. I'm currently midway through season 3, and I'm curious about when this season 3 takes place in comparison to the other season. If anyone could help me out, that'd be greatly appreciated!!

What exactly was Kendall's intention in dragging an old man faster while he was on the edge of passing out? So that they could get back faster? Have they heard of stopping and catching a breath? It seemed like they wanted to get to that rock to sit on, which kind of makes sense, but...faster? What?

Hey ya’ll, i just finished the final episode today. now it really really got me thinking, after the series ended in the succession universe, what do you think happens to kendall? I personally think, or a part of me thinks that he offs himself. What does everyone else think?

Shiv got with Tom because he felt safe. He saw her when she was a “mess” and didn’t held it against her. His presence doesn’t make her the smallest person in the room. But he also worshiped her to a pathetic degree, and that made her uncomfortable, because underneath it all, she knew he was using her as much as she was using him. “You were fucking me for my DNA, for a fucking ladder!” She resented him. He was untrustworthy, a snake. So she provoked him every chance she got, tested his patience, tried to bring out the worst in him, just to say: see? I was right about you. Give me your best shot, then we’ll see who’s the man.

Then when Tom finally DID betray her, when he finally had the nerve to admit he first got with her for the money and name, when he actually dared to hurt her upfront, only then did she let herself really love him. He’d shown her his worst, she’d shown him hers. All cards on the table, it couldn’t get any worse than this. Only then could she love and trust him fully.

To Shiv, love has always been tangled up with hurt, fear, jealousy, revenge; exactly how she’s described it since the very beginning, so it makes sense that she can only fully love someone dared to hurt her too.

Like this character gets bunch of hate every week on reddit, it upsets me cause how can a perfectly written character is THIS misunderstood 😭😭🙏🏼

Hi so just finished the show with my mum, she's heartbroken and in a daze

So, I previously made a post in S1 of how I did not really like shiv, and I think her character becomes a lot more complex and sympathetic whilst also being frustrating in some respect till the end

So, I just wanted to hear out the decision, because its a multifaceted one. Earlier in the episode she DOES reach out to Tom to see if they could get a real relationship together, not sure exactly if this was spurned off the sympathy she showed him the previous episode or if she is focussed on having a stabe family dyanmic.

After all, Shiv is largely driven by her absent relation to her mother, so as all children of poor parents you DO want a better future or better childhood for them than what you had. Tom whilst shallow in his drivers is totally capable of being a generally good dad, and even while its a toxic relation, tom is a stable presence in her life and I feel she generally sought that in their time apart?

So voting Yes to the deal would put her husband in a prime position and her to be the wife of the CEO of said company, and whilst I guess it won't be a Roy owned business, it still is under whatever blood she and tom would share?

It does feel like Roman and Shiv at the end are actually conceding their hopes and aspirations, Shiv always thinks she is fit to be a CEO but she is forever just being really a PR advisor, who thinks she is running things but is just being used. Her pregnancy while is something she shoulders past, is honestly something that cannot just be put aside and I think she recongises that. In another aspect, its not shown, but if she really fears being her mother, being a CEO or having a position at ATN or whatever to a multibillion dollar company puts her in position to be abscent in her child's life.

Finally, I think Shiv just truly does not like Kendal. This stems from 1x2 where in whatever case she is ademant she does not think it should be him and would rather someone else take over. And whilst in this case it does not affect her truly, I feel some of that is her seeing herself as more competent than her brother, her being frustrated by her dad's misogyny and how him succeeding her would drive that in.

Insert the interstellar meme of mathew mcconohay screaming at his daughter, because this whole season I was just BEGGING kendal and roman to include shiv and to not just push her out of the company practically. While I think Kendal could be CEO just neglecting someone with so much influence and above all just being unable to treat each other as equals is just dumb and cost him.

Greg increasingly became less a funny character and more just slimey, but honestly the characters I grew to respect were those who took a lot of shit and carried on, and that applies to greg on some level.

Not sure how people feel about Tom but I am happy he won, I saw someone comment how Mattson noticed Tom working without sleep vs attending a funeral and how it contrasted to Kendal attending his dad's birthday.

It's hard to really measure competence in this show but out of everyone he was the best choice

I might make another post about kendal because I love him but he's also frustrating as hell to watch, when looking back its funny to realise every number every decision he makes is not even based on logic its LITERALLY all tied to his dad.

I know this is seen as some sort of death for him, but as he said this is a job that kills people and it honestly may be for the better that he was forced out.

He could run his own BS that never ammounts to anything but genuinely having his dad's love and legacy cut off is the best thing for him as it was also the worst thing for him.

I think seasons 1-2 were more "fun", but damn the writing in the show the music the acting even the camera work which I at first thought was forced, was all 10/10.

I genuinely don't know how this show could have been better, perhaps connor being president?

Just finished Succession.

First off, one of my favorite shows of all time but also one of the most frustrating ones.

I understand why everything happened the way it did but I also felt no sense of fulfillment at the end. Again, I understand the psychology of both the creators and the characters they created. I was just hoping that at the very end they could have completed something together. Even if Ken wasnt the best choice, it could have been their choice. Watching it implode was very hard to watch.

I wasn't looking for a story book ending but an ambiguous one with Ken sitting at the desk, Shiv and Rom in the office. No words, just panning back to them all being in their Dad's office. The light from the windows making them into silhouettes...fade to black.

I just like to imagine how they were in college.

Kendall: he went to Harvard for his undergraduate degree, probably to study something business-related or journalism. He was probably a really good student, acing all his exams, always showing up to class, always being the first to answer the professor’s questions. He takes the initiative in every group project and college activity, including when writing for the Harvard Lampoon. He tries to act hip and be likable to people, but everyone finds him insufferable and they constantly team up to spoil most of his college enterprises, which makes him spiral into drug abuse with students like Stewy and ultimately fail most of his classes. Logan looks at him disappointed everytime he learns he has to pay extra tuition for him to attend another failed semester. This pushes him to pursuit an MBA, to cement that he’s actually a really smart and good student (and, of course, because he think he’ll be CEO of Waystar).

Shiv: I don’t think the show says what university she attended, but probably Ivy League or something prestigious. I doubt she majored in political science, since that requires some knowledge of statistical and scientific research, which I think Shiv would find beneath her. She can always hire an analyst for that stuff. I think she would major in journalism or something easy from the humanities and liberal arts. She would think she’s smarter than everyone else on campus and that she already knows everything she needs to be successful, and that all she needs are the right contacts. She would do the bare minimum to pass her classes, the rest of the time she would be networking… at which she mostly fails, since most other students find her insufferable. She only becomes a somewhat successful political consultant thanks to her dad. She graduates with her bachelors sooner than Kendall did, though, and would rub it all over his face.

Roman: the wiki says he went to Marshal School of Business in USC, but I don’t recall that from the show. In any case, he probably didn’t even pick a major and, much like Shiv, thought it was all just daycare for adults, didn’t care about academics at all and just went there to party and have a good time. Unlike Shiv, he wouldn’t even try to pass his classes, and would just pay other students to take the tests for him. Other students probably thought he was really fun to hang out with, but eventually he would get involved in some sexual scandal related to an older professor and everyone would see him for the weirdo he is. Didn’t graduate, but would still rub in Ken’s face that Shiv graduates before him.

Connor: much like Shiv, no, he didn’t study political science or anything related to politics. He probably just attended for fun, majored in something easy and interesting, put no effort into it, and probably didn’t manage to graduate. At least other students thought he was ok, a bit aloof, but nice enough to hang around with.

Tom: went to Cornell University, I like to think that as a pre-law student, to follow in his mom’s footsteps, but a major in journalism or finance are equally likely. He was a decent student, worked hard, stayed until late, got good grades. People liked him just fine. He raised his socioeconomic status by banging rich girls on campus, culminating in finding Shiv. Went for his MBA after it was obvious Shiv would make him raise among the Waystar executive ranks.
