A momma cat had babies on our porch and I took them in to give them the best chance. Momma will be a TNR after she is done nursing but I will be registering the kittens with the shelter in Oklahoma to get them adopted! I just wanted to share how they have grown 🥺

This beautiful cat has been living in my apartment complex since I moved there a year ago. He was always very hesitant to get close to anyone even though we feed him and give him water/treats (all residents on our building). I tried my best to get close to him and he started close to me while also keeping a distance. Well, lately he has been crying outside my door and resting on the stairs that go up to my apartment waiting for me to get home from work. When I get back home he tries to get in my apartment and though I’d love to take him in, i have 3 cats and one of them is not friendly. This is all to say that this is very odd for him because he was always a very distant and skittish kitty. So I was hanging out with him once and I noticed a bump on his belly, it was small but noticeable when he moved a certain way. I have been keeping an eye on him for the last few days and I noticed that this bump keeps growing and it’s growing so fast. This small bump turned into MASSIVE bump. I want to help him and I don’t know what to do, I want to take him to the vet but I’m not sure how to do that because he is a stray and I’m not sure he’ll let me pick him up. Do you guys have any tips on what to do to get him into a carrier without failing to get him in? because he still doesn’t let me pet him or touch him. What can I do to help him if I can’t take him to the vet or if I can’t afford his treatment? Any advice is very appreciated. Thank you.

I live in Santa Barbara, CA. I’ve offered to have her spayed before and she refused and seemed upset I brought it up. The thing I’m worried about is her being angry and I’m not even sure if it’s legal for me to do? Her cats has had several litters this year, I’ve been feeding and caring for all of them and she knows this too. It’s also been expensive caring for them since I have my own cats to take care of. There’s so many people in my neighborhood who don’t spay their cats. It’s seems like I’m the only one seeing the issue here. Idk I’m just feeling overwhelmed and sad about the whole situation.

I moved a few days ago and had to come up with a plan for Mama and PJ so I could make sure they’d be taken care of. Her other 2 sons Happy and Arnold ended up getting adopted together!!! A neighbor up the street also ended up having an AMAZING set up for the strays and she owns her apartment so she will live there permanently. She brought up the idea of Mama and PJ going to her friend’s property where they could be barn cats and receive better care. I really hope that pans out for them. I will continue to ask her for updates on them!!!

ANYWAYS, as soon as we walked up to our new apartment for the first time I saw this big champagne boy 🥂 soon after we found his little girlfriend. Neither of them are fixed so I contacted my cat lady friend who’s got the in at the humane society. She is coming by tonight to either drop off traps, or potentially trap them.

I need to come up with names for them still! As I type this I can hear the boy yowling in hallway in front of my apartment lol. I cannot wait until he is fixed so he stops this 😩 I think we are going to SNR the girl. She is much more trusting than the boy, it was not hard to pet her at all.

Previous post about Ursula

Ursula was a community cat from the market who’d been mysteriously emaciated and unwell. Her labs now point to FIP, and because she has fluid in her abdomen plus neurological signs. The vet started treatment two days ago, and she may be stable enough to continue treatment at home by the end of the week.

FIP is frustrating, but treatment is thankfully available. We were all wrong thinking she’d be a hospice cat, as her thyroid and other organ functions are normal.

Leon has made amazing progress since starting treatment for neurological FIP. Aside from a minor head tilt and that he stomps when he walks, his major neurological symptoms have mostly resolved as we complete the first month of treatment.

It’s been overwhelming to care for two FIP cats at once, and I’m uneasy about the coming months. We hope you can help with current costs for Ursula’s hospitalization, Leon’s upcoming check, and meds for both cats.

I am a solo animal rescuer based in Manila, Philippines. Before taking in Susie, I was already caring for 37 rescued cats, as well as more than 40 stray cats in our area. I also doTNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) whenever I can and visit other areas to feed stray animals, do TNR and rescue animals whenever needed.

Meet Susie. She is a 3-year-old cat who was surrendered to me by her owner, who is currently pregnant and expecting to give birth next month.

Her owner said that she can no longer take care of Susie and cannot afford to bring her to the vet. Sadly, no one wanted to adopt Susie because she has a tumor in her ear.

I didn't hesitate to accept Susie when I saw her condition. I knew she needed help, and I couldn't turn her away.

I was able to bring Susie to the vet, where she was thoroughly examined and underwent CBC and BloodChem tests. She was diagnosed with an auricular mass in her right ear.

According to the vet, Susie needs lumpectomy (tumor removal surgery) and a mass biopsy as soon as possible. The tumor is very sensitive and bleeds easily, causing her severe pain and discomfort. The vet also said that the mass could possibly be cancerous, which is why the biopsy is very important.

I am humbly asking for everyone's help to give Susie the tumor removal surgery she desperately needs. She deserves a healthier, longer, and pain-free life. She also deserves a loving and responsible forever home—someone who will never give up on her.

I live in very rural area with too many bushes and trees and apartment complexes. Very quiet neighbourhood. Now this stray that came to my house was seemingly in heat, but it;s been 1.5 month and she never returned.

Hi everyone,

Some of you may recognize this kitten from my earlier updates. With your support and kindness, I was able to treat him for a serious respiratory infection and intestinal worms. After that, he started to recover, eat more normally, and regain some of his strength.

Unfortunately, things changed very suddenly. He stopped eating and began losing weight very fast. I brought him back to the vet, and after testing, we received the devastating diagnosis: he has FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).

This illness is extremely serious, but treatment can still give him a real chance. The sooner he starts, the better.

I have already contacted a rescue group that focuses on FIP cases to ask for possible help with fundraising. However, they can only step in once treatment has already begun.

At this moment, the most urgent need is to cover his first treatment dose, which is about $120.

I am an independent rescuer in Morocco, and I care for many abandoned and sick cats. I do everything I can for them, but situations like this are very hard to manage alone.

(Buford, GA USA) I recently took in this friendly stray and the ears are not tipped. I was planning on taking it to get spayed, but am told it could be a neutered male.

Thin cat appeared right in front of me while I was walking out of my office building. It seems very weak, walking slowly with slight limp and meowing at me constantly. Should I save it, the wait for cat people to arrive might take 2-3 hours.

Updates. The cat people won't come until tomorrow. I have fed it half a pack of wet food and they say if it's still there they will come. I can't bring it with me as I have a cat at home and it might have parasites which I cannot risk. Hopefully it's still there when I am back. It's an industrial area which is restricted to outsiders.

Updates day 2- Have arrived back at my workplace but the cat is nowhere to be found. Have walked one round around the vicinity. Hopefully it will come back to the area which I left the water. I am regretting not doing more but the cat people either don't seem to care or they do not have enough resources to attend to this.

Me and my family just lost our cat in a house fire we do not know if she is alive or dead

I work at an animal hospital as a vet assistant. Due to an agreement we have with the animal control unit in our area, a lot of strays (cats and dogs) come through and receive basic care (exam, basic vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, deworming) before eventually going on to a shelter. However, I’ve noticed the cats are more often left for weeks, even months at a time while the dogs are moved relatively quickly. It breaks my heart that such sweet babies will be stuck with us instead of finding a potential home because the vast majority of them are sweet, friendly, easy purrers, and could make such wonderful cats if given the opportunity.

My baby was one of these cats. She came to us at about 1-2 years of age, having likely had at least one litter at some point, and scared out of her mind. She hissed at me when I first opened her cage door but the second I scratched her head, she just melted. That was nearly 19 months ago now and she has made me such a happy cat momma. I live with my parents so I had to beg them to let me bring her home but my mom eventually agreed. Her name is Jolene, named after the song because my mom said her beauty was beyond compare haha. She’s the first cat I’ve ever truly owned myself and she’s my heart animal; I wouldn’t trade her for all the kittens in the world!

This subreddit fills me with so much joy and emotion to see the devoted hard workers out there trying to make life just a little bit better for all the stray kitties out there. Keep being great guys! Just had to share my success story with y’all 🐈🐈‍⬛

A kitten showed up about a week ago, skin and bones. We've been feeding her and checking on her and she seems to have decided to stick around. My concern is that I have indoor pets, a dog and two cats, and the kitten hangs out in the backyard where we let my dog out or take my cat out on the porch with her harness. I've also started noticing signs of other kittens about her size showing up as well so I'm thinking shes got siblings who are coming around now too. We aren't in a financial position to bring them into the house, not even just the one. We can give them food and water, shelter from storms and weather but that's the best we can do.

I just need to know how careful I'd need to be if I allow them to keep coming around so we can feed them. What are some steps I can take to mitigate risks etc. Or should we just avoid them mingling at all? Mostly the dog, is my biggest concern, I can take my cat out the other side of the house or something if shes going on a walk.

(NW Indiana) Sami has been with us for about 2.5 weeks now, after showing up on our back porch in a heat wave. She was emaciated, covered in bugs and foaming at the mouth.

She still has a ways to go, but we’ve been pouring so much love and care into her recovery and we’re really pleased with her progress so far! On her first trip to the vet for diagnostic testing, her blood volume was too low for a full Chemistry panel. The vet hopes this is just due to malnutrition and we’re planning to try again in a couple of weeks. We are currently giving her antibiotics for her respiratory symptoms and she’s already sounding much better. A little congested still, but a lot less snot and wheezing. She will of course be spayed and vaccinated when she’s healthy and strong enough. She’s very affectionate and has finally started to play🥹

I’m already fretting about finding Samina the perfect home. She’s been through so much in her short little life and she deserves a loving home and family of her own. Her adoption will go through a local rescue. Please let me know if you’re near Indiana and are interested in giving our little Sami her forever when she’s ready!

I moved into a new apartment recently and have been feeding the stray cats that seemed to have come with the place. In the past two weeks, I have noticed that the bellies of two of them have significantly grown. The two black and orange ones are extremely loving and attention crazy, while the grey one is much more reserved.

Does anybody in Ohio know of a shelter that could take them in and house them for the duration of their pregnancies? We have called everywhere we could find in the Columbus and Cleveland areas with no luck.

This sweet stray girl is one of the many cats we care for every day in Cyprus in one of out colonies.

She is incredibly gentle and friendly. She would be at her colony every day. Always looking not only for food but for some cuddles and love too. It always broke my heart that she was beautiful and so cuddly, and didn’t have a loving home. She would make the perfect companion.

When she disappeared for a few days, we were very worried. Then she returned looking like this.

We don’t know what happened. Whether it was an injury, an infection, or something else. All we know is that she was in terrible pain. She wouldn’t let anyone touch her without crying.

We rushed her to the vet. Sadly, it was too late to save her eye. What you see in the video is her eye that came out.

The veterinarian told us the eye is beyond saving and must be surgically removed as soon as possible to stop her suffering and prevent further complications.

She has already suffered enough. She deserves a life without constant pain.

As a small volunteer rescue, we care for many homeless cats and emergencies like this are always difficult to afford. Once again, we are asking for your help so this sweet girl can finally live without pain. We still have a ~400€ vet dept for our other stray cat Meli. And now this.
