The Green Machine!

Thought I’d share an option that works quite well for a budget steam machine as it’s all quite small form factor and easy to do using a second hand Dell

Dell OptiPlex 3080 Mini Tower i5 10th Gen 16GB RAM 256GB NVMe Windows 11 PC:- £242.99 using eBay code

Dell 500 Watt Power Supply for Optiplex 5060 7060 7080MT 8940 MT Systems: I paid £46 but currently £81

Powercolor Radeon RX 9060 XT Reaper 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card:- currently £399 but I paid £350

Of course you can use any AMD card to keep the cost down. Remember to put the CPU plastic shroud on afterwards.

Pretty well. I’ve end up using FSR balanced at 4K using VRR.on high for something like space marine 2. It pushed 45-60 at that. The main issue with newest titles is fan noise as it’s pushing both CPU and GPU. For other older titles can do 4K 60 or more native no issues without the fan being annoying. It a really nice option for the price.

Nice Steam Box ⬛️ This is exciting and exactly what I want to do. Being a Mac guy, I’m not an experienced PC builder, so I really appreciate seeing specific builds in these posts.

I’m mainly a Mac guy too. I can build PCs but I don’t really enjoy it anymore. Did my main system from scratch as wanted a specific case and that was enough. Another good option if you’re looking for easy and cheap is to look at the Deskmeet X300 as that’s still AMD4. Then get a 6600 or 7600 GPU that is 200mm or less. I have put this 9060xt in there but it’s too loud. I’ve been using apple silicon from the start so super sensitive to fan noise now!
