Hi Everyone..

Been using solus for the past 3 months as my daily driver and this is my first Linux install. During boot i keep getting the following msg (i know it's not an error msg) before the username password screen. No issues with the OS just those lines during boot sometimes gets to me is all.

I did search for a fix and was unable to resolve this. Was wondering if anyone had any insights and could help me out

Hi, I'm desperately trying to install Solus on an Acer CB3-431 Chomebook. Right now, it runs on Manjaro Linux w/KDE Plasma. When I try to replace it with Solus 4.9, the keyboard is no longer working. Does anyone here see any good reason why this happens ? Any fix or possible workaround?

I'm running Solus on my Lenovo IdeaPad 320 and for a little while I'm getting this error message on my screen after the Lenovo logo is shown. It boots just fine after that into my desktop but it seems the boot is delayed and it takes ages until I can log in. I don't think this is a Solus problem but I'm running Solus so maybe someone can help.

I already searched for this and found some posts on different forums, suggesting to run "systemctl mask dev-tpm0.device". I did that but it didn't help.

Any suggestions?

I'd like to try out Solus, but I need to install to LVM. The issue is that Solus doesn't appear to have the option to do that.

The "Disk Partitioning" page at https://help.getsol.us/docs/user/quick-start/installation/disks states "Solus can take up the entire drive, using traditional root partitions, or with LVM-managed root partitions", but it doesn't cover how to actually accomplish this.

The installer gives the option to shrink a partition, erase the disk, or manually partition. I don't want to encrypt, and erase the disk just installs ~1TB root partition and 2GB EFI. No LVM at all. I want to have /home on a separate partition (preferably LVM) I would rather not manually partition, but when I tried it the installer let me create an PV, but there was no way to create VGs, or put LVs on it. (which is why I just want the installer to do it.)

I also tried booting to a Slackware recovery and partitioning and setting up LVM manually, but I'm not able to use the LVs or VG I create this way (selecting one kicks me out of the installer.)

There is a Reddit post from 9 years ago saying that in order to support LVM it needs to be done with the installer, but (again) there doesn't appear to be any way to do that.

Is there an alternate installer that I need to use? (I'm currently using the icon on the live ISO desktop.) I'm at a loss here.

Hi there, I had the primal urge to distro hop recently and decided to try out Solus for the first time, had a weird config issue with the XFCE install thst prevented X from starting but once I fixed that its been amazing so far. Eopkg has been easy to transition to and is really speedy, id say it may be the quickest package manager ive had the pleasure of using.

Big updates, including Kernel (7.1.3 / 6.18.38), KDE Plasma (6.7.3) & Frameworks (6.28.0), and Nvidia. Plus many others, including security.

New adds include Drawy, Satty, and Toolbx.

The dbus-broker service at the bottom loops like that infinitely and I can never access my machine. Before I did my restart that started this, I couldn’t access anything that required root permissions. Always got errors about sudoers audit plugin.

Am I cooked or is this salvageable?

Hello, I downloaded the mullvad vpn through the package manager gui on Solus (discover) but for some reason whenever I connect to it I lose Internet access on Solus. Not really sure what to do here and would appreciate some help.

Hi, I'm a highschool student with a fedora on my laptop, and I want to change to solus. Is it easy to install same as other distro like mint and fedora?

Notable updates include Gnome 50.3, KDE Gear 26.04.3, and DankMaterialShell 1.5 which is a big update.

Plus many other updates, including security!

Not a big update, but one that should help with some common problems around eopkg when updating.

One of the problems with Solseek is that when doing system updates using Solseek through the TUI or cli solseek up it can be difficult to tell when eopkg updates have an error as it continues down with Flatpak, etc.

So with version 1.4.13 which is in will be pushed with today's sync, it will now check for errors. If there is an error, it will pause and give you options.

Option 1 will automatically run eopkg dc, which is known to resolve issues more times than not, and then retry the update, before moving on to Flatpak and other updates.
Option 2 will continue you on without retrying.
Option 3 will exit the update runner.

This should hopefully make it easier to catch and resolve issues that we see with eopkg where clearing the cache resolves the issue.

The new version will be installed with today's Solus sync/update.

There is no package manager with better UX/UI than eopkg!

After compiling Gentoo yesterday on my main machine it was time to install a new distribution on my Lenovo Ideapad 320. Hope Solus will give me a safe haven.

Ive jumped around from the major distros, even to the arch, manjaro and fedora side. Saw a post about solus and didnt pay much attention to it as it was something ive never heard of aside from the issues its had. Scrolling around and saw another post about it and said why not just give it a shot.

Man was I shocked. It has everything I need in the repos, first distro that I didnt have to settle for app images. Its super fast, easy to use and everything just works. So to the devs, thank you for doing what your doing, you all dont get enough credit. This distro is amazing and hope to meet some of yall in the community soon!

Blizz has issues with their implementation of DX12, and it impacts both AMD and Nvidia users. The only solution currently is to go into the game options and change it from "auto" to DX11. Blizzard has been unable to fix whatever problem is they're having and Nvidia is supposed to be attempting to implement a fix in one of their upcoming drivers.

Overhaul to the eopkg package manager highlights updates this week that include kernels (7.0.14/6.18.37), KDE Plasma 6.7.2, and more. Plus the normal security updates.

They talk as if their distros were perfect and blah, blah, blah. "I love that my favorite company uses me as a guinea pig", oh, please. Love whatever Linux distro you want, but judge the others with respect, or at the very least, point out actual issues.

Once I tried Solus, I never looked back.

Its brilliant, not sure why i haven't been using this earlier ahaha. Budgie desktop is great and snappy.. not sure what else to compliment about it that hasn't already been lol - overall just fantastic to use, only found out about it while researching irish linux distros.

would like to try Solus. As far as I know, the Budgie desktop is their flagship edition? I've used Budgie before but I remember having some issues with it, like my monitor not going to sleep and something else. But I'm pretty sure the other desktops are greatly maintained as well? I prefer KDE but also like Gnome or Xfce. It's also kinda weird for me that they use Discover for their desktops, since it's usually KDE's software center. But I really don't care since I usually do my updates in the terminal. And I love the simplicity of eopkg. So is anyone else using Solus with something else than Budgie?

So glad I found Solus. No reinstalls, no breakage, extremely fast. There's nothing more I could ask of a distro. Long live the galleon!
