Democrats frequently still repeat the egregious line that Biden deported more people than Trump on a near weekly basis. A good chunk of congressional democrats went out of their way to "thank ICE". Again, the democratic and republican parties do not disagree on immigration.

I nearly said you should ditch. My experience with the DSA is similar, but if you can't rub shoulders with evil, you'll honestly never be part of a working-class-supported political coalition. Being there adds one democratic body to the org and makes it better.

There really is no good option for environmentalism tbh.

Conservatives: Evil Capitalist Ghouls Paid for by Oil

Socdems: Sometimes effective on solar and wind, completely anti-nuclear for no good reason at all

Greens: The most obvious Russian-funded controlled opposition I've ever seen.

If you think Kamala would've sent ICE agents to murder innocent people in the streets, get the most unqualified morons like RFK Jr in the cabinet, and make everything more expensive through tariffs and pointless wars, you are not a very bright person. Biden didn't do any of this so obviously Kamala wouldn't

Doesn't the DSA also believe that Ukraine and/or NATO provoked Russia to attack?
Some of their members are also anti-aid for Ukraine, and their organization on the local level has a tankie and Sinophilia proble
Also the Jacobin as credible source on anything? Really

I appreciate the insight, thank you! Spain and especially Canada are high up on the list of candidates.

Their leadership is currently flirting with ideas such as 'Mao was a great socialist leader and Taiwan is China' and 'when you think about it, the West forced Putin's hand with Ukraine' so I guess expand democracy/hate imperialism unless our greatest allies are involved.

I get it, I miss when Pakman didn't do the clickbait shit. But what do you think of the actual substance of the video?

Already, you seem like the people they should have, but who don’t deserve!  I think there are other local progressive clubs in your area that you can join.  https://youtu.be/LCRZZC-DH7M?si=lUZOe3-CZZvpxZCx

“Is that all there is to DSA?”

I could go into several bizarre conversations I have had with them. All they have to do is open their mouths and the shit comes out.

It is not so simple to declare the fast tracking of development and private developers as inherently “good” things because there is still nuance to that.

Obviously there's nuance, there still needs to be some process and regulations, etc. But overall it's a good thing, the same way farmers growing food is a good thing.

Agreed that green space needs to be preserved and infrastructure is always an issue, but

The original plan from this developer would have built apartments that were 9 floors in height which makes zero sense for the area as there’s not much above 3/4 stories.

NIMBY detected.

The whole attitude of objecting because "we're only 3-4 stories, 9 stories too tall" is exactly the kind of bullshit I'm talking about. How dare people provide more housing in a housing crisis, right?

Not to mention that it's nonsensical; you can get the same amount of housing in less land if you build taller, which means more green space, which I thought you wanted?

genuinely the hell is this?
This is so wrong it's almost difficult to explain how, the foundation itself is incorrect. Which does make sense considering this is made for a site specifically meant to push for conservatism.

"A central idea behind democratic socialism is that when a small number of people receive large economic rewards in the millions, they should be redirected to the people whose labor also made that success possible."

"If the principle works there, America will notice. Hollywood becomes more profitable."

"Those are the very questions New York City should answer before asking businesses across every industry to reorganize around this philosophy."

"Lead by example in Hollywood. Set the stage on Broadway. Show us how it’s done in the mayor's office. Build the compensation models you believe create the fairest and most prosperous organizations. Show the hard-working people of America that your principles produce better businesses, stronger industries, happier workers, and lasting prosperity."

This is arguing that the labour movement fails/succeeds based on their "success" in being capitalists. The argument is also not that "capitalists makes too much" it's over how that wealth is made. You can be a millionaire worker and that wouldn't be an issue if that was generated through your labour instead of your ownership of means of production. Creating an unequal and exploitative relationship where people that need to survive have to work for less than the value of their own labour to fill the businessowner's pockets.

How can they possibly gauge my political leaning if I don’t understand the actual question?

Democratic Socialists of America (and democratic socialists in general) and most theories of social democracy differ on one major point: the end goal of socialism.

Social democrats believe in a mixed market, where some industries are nationalized (Equinor is a great example) while other parts of the economy remain regulated and private capitalist industries. Democratic socialists can vary on what industries may be socialized, but these are typically shipping, natural resource production, energy, etc. Social democrats do not want fully a socialized economy.

Democratic socialists view social democracy as a step in the ultimate goal of reaching a fully socialized system.

Hard disagree tbh.

People who know next to nothing about the functioning of government should not be voting.

DSA have some good policy, but they are completely crippled by Tankie gatekeeping over I/P. The big problem with these pan leftest groups is that Marxist–Leninist–Maoists run rampant and manipulate people who don't know any better into Red Fascists positions like one state policy on I/P or Russia's right to 'defend itself' when it invaded Ukraine.
