I edit and make thumbnails for free to start. If I like your channel enough, I'll keep doing it for free. If not, or once you're monetized, we'll figure out a price together.

The content I mainly focus on editing is gaming related. I'm open to other formats too. My editing style is inspired by editors from SMii7Y, Soup, Stimpee, Yumi, and The Group.

I'll tailor my editing to your liking, but I want to keep my creative freedom. That's part of why I enjoy it so much and am offering it in the first place. Thumbnails are also something I can do.

I don't use generative AI in my edits. Everything is edited manually. AI is used as a tool for getting information, or to remove backgrounds from images when my usual tools can't. Though the latter barely happens anymore.

A few things to note:

• I want to see both raw footage and your existing uploads, not just one or the other. The footage must have real effort put into it, not a random VOD. This shows me whether I can do your content justice and that you've already put decent work in on your own.
• The content needs something going on, whether that's commentary, personality, or a friend group dynamic. Straight gameplay with no commentary isn't something I'll take on for free.
• No content in a language I don't speak. No suggestive/"18+" content.
• 16/17+, adults preferred, but I'll make exceptions if the content is good enough.
• Separate audio tracks preferred (game, microphone, Discord, etc.), or a well-managed single audio track. Separate tracks aren't a requirement, it's just something that helps me.
• Max 1080p/1440p, no 4K.
• I can transfer files through my OneDrive, or your own file transferring tools if you've got one.

Hey I don’t really know exactly how to ask so ima just try in a random way. So I want to collab with other people for gaming content. I mostly play JRPGs as my main content but I do dabble in randomizers and such and would like to collab with someone to do randomizer soul links, ocarina of time ramp co-op/race, Minecraft, or even stardew valley. I also have sons of the forest if that’s more your style. I’d love to connect and collab with more people as well.

Been at this a few months and my biggest problem isn't ideas or editing, it's that I hate being on camera. What I do kind of needs me on screen, but every time I sit down to film it's the lights, saying the same line 10 times, then the editing, and a 60 second clip eats my whole evening. So I end up going a week or two without posting and killing my own momentum.

A mate of mine who runs a channel swears by Argil, he trains it on his face and it just says whatever script he feeds it, and he's posting daily now without ever setting up a camera. He keeps telling me to just do it already. But I can't get past the idea of an AI version of my face out there saying things I typed, it feels like it's not really me even if it looks like me, and I'm convinced my viewers would clock it. Maybe that's a me problem.

The other route is going full faceless, but the whole thing so far has been built around it being me.

Idk what I'm even asking. For those of you posting consistently, are you just pushing through the filming, or have you made peace with the AI avatar stuff and I'm the one overthinking it? What actually keeps you consistent without burning out on the filming part?

So ive been wanting to get back into making videos, but it always comes down to like it seems i mostly wanna keep alot of the hobbies i really like to myself, so i dont really know where to go from here? cuz im not the kind of person that can just pretend to like something for the video. i think its also like if i was to like something just to make videos on it, i dont even know where to start with that, like ill use an example, i like Transformers, i recently got into it, i have a few ideas for it but im kinda meh on them right now, and its also like, if i was to talk about them i dont know how to research for them without having to read a ton of comics or like watch like 30 series etc. (outside of the ones i already do watch)

ive also kind of been throwing around, maybe videos where i talk or just informational videos just isnt my thing, but i dont really know what else to do tho, im a pretty proficient video editor, im pretty good at talking and speaking, but whenever i think of a topic to do somethign on, i just get the knee jerk of like "But why would i talk about that tho"

I spend a lot of my free time helping other creators read their retention graphs, it started as a hobby and became the thing I do most evenings. And I keep running into the same confusing situation on graphs people share with me. A video with genuinely great retention, sometimes 90 percent plus, that YouTube just refuses to push. And the creator, understandably, concludes the algorithm is broken or they are shadowbanned or something.

Took me embarrassingly long to work out what is actually going on, because I saw it on two different channels the same week before the pattern clicked. Posting it in case it saves someone the same confusion.

The retention number on your dashboard is an average across everyone who watched. But everyone who watched is not one audience. In the early life of a video, most of your views come from subscribers and people who clicked through from your channel page. These are people who already chose you. They found you, they like you, of course they hold well. Measuring retention on them is like asking your friends if your jokes are funny.

The number YouTube actually cares about is whether the video survives cold traffic. Strangers from browse and suggested who have zero context and no loyalty. And it will not push a video wide until it has seen that happen. So you can sit there with a beautiful retention number that is entirely made of warm viewers, and from the algorithm's side the video is still unproven.

Shorts have their own version of this. A loop counts again, so a 20 second short someone watches twice shows as 200 percent. That is a real signal that the people who stayed loved it, but it says nothing about the swipe in the first second, which is the number the feed actually feeds on.

The check takes two minutes. Open the video in analytics, go to the retention or duration view, and split it by traffic source. Compare suggested and browse against channel page and subscribers. If there is a big gap, the cold number is your real number, and that is the one to work on.

Where I am still unsure, I do not have a good sense of what a decent cold traffic retention actually looks like. The handful of channels I have helped is a small sample and it probably varies a lot by length and niche, so I would not trust myself to give a benchmark yet.

Has anyone here actually compared their warm vs cold retention split? Curious how big the gap runs on other channels, and whether anyone has managed to close it.

Correct me if I am wrong but YouTube gives every video a chance with some impressions. And after you upload a fresh new video, I think the worst thing you can do is share it in communities such as this one. You'll get some views, yes, but these people are not your audience, they will not watch more than a few seconds of your video. And that will give YouTube negative feedback because of low retention rate, and it will think your video is not good. your videos should only be shared to people that would actually watch them. Otherwise, I think it's best to simply keep uploading until YouTube figures out your audience and starts giving impressions of your video to the right people.

I've done this mistake in multiple channels, sharing my content in social media, websites, communities and different forums. in the best case scenario, I would share a video with a community that actually watched more than 50% of it, and YouTube would think: okay, this is a video that gets outside traffic, no need to promote it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I think happens.
