The r/SlipjointKnives community is launching its first annual r/SJK Awards.
This will hopefully be a seasonal celebration of the best slipjoints, traditional knives, photography, and collections in the community.
This is designed to be a yearly tradition highlighting craftsmanship, use, and presentation from members of the subreddit. And yes, there will be prizes.
July 1 (Today)– Announcement & General Overview of Contest
August 1 – August 31

Categories are tentative to change, the list will be finalized before submissions open.
Feel free to offer suggestions down below.

To ensure authenticity, each entry must include a handwritten timestamp within the photo showing:
This can be written on paper, tag, or note placed in-frame with the knife. The goal is to verify ownership and ensure all entries are current and authentic.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in the r/SJK "Best of the Best" contest at the end.
Futher details will be announced in the August 1st post.
Each user can enter into multiple categories, but you may only win one category award. In the event of multiple wins, the moderators and/or award committee will assign the highest category placement and reallocate runner-up placements accordingly.
This is the beginning of what we hope becomes a long-standing annual tradition for the community. Sharpen your edges, stage your photos, and show us your best!

This post will be the sole home for all “Wanting To Buy” (WTB) or “In Search Of” (ISO) requests.
If you’re on the hunt for a specific slipjoint, pattern, cover material, maker, or even a hard-to-find variation, this is the place to let the group know what you’re looking for. Drop a comment below with the details of what you’re trying to track down. The goal is to keep these requests centralized and give members a dedicated space to connect.
A lot of us have overlapping interests, extra pieces tucked away, or leads we’ve come across. This gives everyone a simple way to help one another out and keep great knives circulating within the group(s).
Example comments:
"ISO Great Eastern Cutlery 66 calf roper with unicorn covers."
"WTB Case 6347 with Red Jigged Bone"
"WTB some kind of barlow"
We'll see how this plays out, but I'm hoping to post a new thread every month to clean the slate and start fresh.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone’s chasing.

DISCLAIMER: any posts or comments offering knives for sale or trade in this thread will be removed. Please use r/Knife_Swap for all sales and trades. This thread is strictly for WTB / ISO requests.
As stated in other stickied posts, the moderators of r/SJK do NOT moderate or facilitate private sales or trades between users. However, we understand that sales and trades may still occur in private messages after someone posts a WTB / ISO request. Once conversations move to private chats, the only person who can truly moderate the transaction is you.
If you choose to pursue a transaction, do your due diligence. Ask for a timestamp you’re comfortable with, verify what you can, and always err on the side of caution. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. Be willing to walk away from the deal if anything seems off.
We strongly encourage using r/Knife_Swap for transactions whenever possible. It is a much safer environment with established rules and an active moderation team that helps enforce them.

This knife developed significant blade play in all directions. It’s well out of warranty being a second owner but reached out to Joan Mae and she got me all set up with a brand new blade for $47 total.
Fantastic service and communication all around. Took a few weeks but that’s not bad at all!

Hey gentlemen just recently getting into slip joint knives. Been a long time knife collector. Noticed the big brands hardly have stock available like GEC/Jack wolf for example.
Why don’t y’all sell on your community pages? Other hobbies I belong to, some knife related ones we sell our stuff if we need to off load on some heaters.
What’s the deal old men? Can I buy a GEC off someone?

Would you trade a Waynorth 86 Blackjack NIT for a GEC 77 Washington Jack?
