I’m a mushroom hunter, so every now and then I come across slime moans in my areas however, when I came across this I genuinely was so confused. I had no clue what it was to the point where I felt minor anxiety/fear it looked so… Abnormal, I guess. However, after learning what it was, I realized how this dude was and wanted to share with you guys.

it was underneath fallen tree so pictures were really hard to take at the angle I was.

Edit: i’d like to add for fakes sake, chocolate tubes are not a “true mould”

I'm new to slime molds, but I have noticed this spray-foam-lookin' gloop in different spots in my mulch over the last couple days. It's so fascinating and I'm amazed that a big patch like this can show up overnight! I think it's Fuligo septica. I learned that it's a single-celled amoeba, which is also blowing my mind. This is the biggest patch I've seen so far in my yard, and it looks so fresh and nice, so I wanted to share some pics!

What are some other Fuligo septica (or general slime mold) fun facts for a person like me: enthusiastic, outsidey nerd just starting to learn about slime molds?

Identification Request Dead slime mold?

Saw this thing while I was looking for isopods. I poked it with a stick and it had a powdery texture, like very fine sawdust. Google images says it could be a slime mold that died off or some kind of yellow lichen. Anyone here know which it is?

For context: found in a ravine in Toronto at the base of a dead tree. Rained pretty hard yesterday.

Just went out to explore the woods around my sisters house for the first time and discovered this slime mold. Honestly had no idea slime mold could look like anything but slime.

Can anyone say what this slime mold is, and if my tenative ID is correct, or if this is something else entirely? Location: Dawsonville, Georgia, USA. Habitat: Growing on a decaying log, pine is probably, but decay too extensive to say for certain. Mixed, deciduous dominant forest. Cribrara in title should read as Cribraria*

I feel blessed by slime mold lately. They seem to love my humid panda king Isopod enclosure. I also found a second dog vomit slime mold a couple days after finding the first one. No luck getting it to consume the oats yet, but I'm going to keep trying.

A couple of weeks ago, I was outside looking for slime molds when I spotted something on the moss growing on a dogwood tree here in East Tennessee that I thought might be one. I ran inside to grab a container so I could collect a sample, but by the time I got back, it had disappeared.
There was still a tiny bit of residue left on the moss where it had been, so I carefully collected the moss and cultured it on oats. Over the following weeks, I removed the fuzzy molds that appeared, separated cultures when needed, and patiently cared for them. This is the result after a couple of weeks.
