Mod Post Updated Spoiler Policy

Hi all!

Given that the remake of Skyward Sword HD has been out for some time, we've decided to loosen up the spoiler policy. Now, only posts that contain major spoilers (e.g. major character plot turns, ending twists) require a spoiler marking. With this change, we hope to grant the community more leeway in discussing the game freely, while at the same time still having a spoiler policy in place to protect those casually browsing the subreddit from the biggest plot turns. As always, feel free to post content of any shape or form as long as it follows the basic guideline rules (listed on the right), and have fun!

Regards,

The /r/ Skyward Sword mod team (Sephardson, MasterYoshi5, krirby)

Mod Post Tears of the Kingdom spoiler policy

Hello all,

With the release of Tears of the Kingdom coming up, we thought it'd be important to provide a short update to the current spoiler policy. We want to allow people to be free to discuss and reference any content from Tears of the Kingdom, but ask people to do so with discretion as to not spoil the game experience for other players. If you are willing to reference Tears of the Kingdom in discussions in way please be mindful of the following:

  • When creating a new topic, click the spoiler button so that the topic gets marked as containing spoilers. Specify in the topic title that it contains discussion about TotK so people can be aware of this before clicking the topic. Also, please take care to not put any spoilers in the topic title itself.
  • When posting in the forum, use the spoiler tag. Please specify in your post that it contains references to TotK so people can decide accordingly whether not to read your message.

That is all, as always please use due discretion and our mods will also keep an eye on the subreddit of course to make sure it remains a safe and spoiler-free zone to visit. Thank you all for being a part of this community and feel free to discuss Skyward Sword and/or reference Tears of the Kingdom as long as it follows the basic rules set as described here and in our other topic!

Regards, the /r/skywardsword mod team.

Question / Help [SS] Looking for Bug Thread

This may a bit of an odd request, but I am trying to find evidence of some old bug thread that I'm thinking of, that I remember there being some discussion about. I am not good at searching the internet, so I apologize if this was something easy to find.

I played skyward sword and followed the speedrun community probably around 2015-2016 (I remember the speedruns still being over 5 hours and BiT was not nearly as well-understood as it is now, the main BiT manipulation stuff at the time I think was only opening the thunderhead early and getting the life tree seedling early). There was some discussion about some bug that I do not seem to be able to find any information on anymore, but I am confident that I remember seeing discussions about it, even if I don't seem to be able to find any information on it anymore.

I believe the bug was somebody getting softlocked inside the bobokin base for the song of the hero quest. This is NOT the softlock involved with Golo. I believe that discussion in the thread indicated that the player entered Eldin well before the song of the hero quest, but the game somehow triggered the bokoblin base sequence, and the user was stuck as a result. I don't think anyone was able to reproduce the bug. I don't remember exactly what forum this was on, unfortunately, but I believe it would be likely to be a zelda-specific forum that frequented speedrun discussion.

Question / Help Accidentally broke sequence, am I in trouble?

I've just finished Din's Silent Realm and am currently trying to get to the Fire Sanctuary, but somehow managed to get to the dragon's lair and get his part of the Song of the Hero early, avoiding the whole "captured by Bokoblins" part entirely. Will this cause problems later on? I'm playing the HD Switch version.

Music is a 11/10, so eerie and spooky (all though I wish it played more)
The moving the rooms are some of the only puzzles in Zelda that genuinely get me stuck, even on reruns
And of course the bosses right after is the best in the series

Very simple, but it was fun and I liked trying it again.

This is using a personal redesign for Zelda, I love making redesigns for my favourite characters.

The video looks crunchy, but the individual images look better, I’ll see if I can put those in the comments.

Edit: unfortunately, I cannot put them in the comments, but you can find them on tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/trainautismgobrr/821687157253160960/wowie-i-animated-individual-images?source=share

Screenshot Lizalfos rant

I’m at the Sandship, and somehow the two Lizalfos in the Earth Temple are STILL the hardest fight I’ve had so far. Maybe I’m just not the best at combat.

Bosses? No problem.
Silent realms? Stressful but manageable.
Those two lizards? Absolute menaces.

I just fought them again recently, and it was slightly easier with my upgraded sword, but I really hope that’s the last time I have to beat them. If not… any tips would be appreciated!

Question / Help Trading Quest

Hi, first time player posting questions here as I don’t want spoilers from faqs.

Assuming there is a trade quest in the game, where/when can it be started? I have completed two dungeons and not seen anything of it yet.

Also, is it a bad idea to walk around with a full poach? Wondering if it will affect awards/treasures that I come across.

Thanks

Question / Help I’m replaying this game after a couple years on hero mode and I don’t want to be spoilt from the lightning round. If I play it to get the hylian shield, is there a chance that late game bosses I haven’t unlocked via the story such as the horde battle will appear?

Discussion / Opinion Completed as a DS-era fan, what next?

I loved it. This was the first time I played a The Legend of Zelda game on Switch (it was the HD remake). It felt absolutely nostalgic in every possible way.

I consider this game to be a very well bridged follow up on the DS games. And those were the games I played when I was a kid, years ago. The little soundtracks (like from opening a chest) the music, the tools, it was all so reminiscent in a right way.

And then, the way the Master Sword gets presented… I was in awe. And another moment that almost got me emotional was when I first heard Fi sing the Ballad of the Goddess (in the light tower of Skyloft). Namely, she sung it in such way that I, for the first time, noticed a familiar melody. And when I looked it up I found out about it being Zelda’s Lullaby in reverse and I went ecstatic.

As a sucker for mythology, I think this games also shines at its story. It provides such a satisfying lore for the rest of the The Legend of Zelda games. This foundation, characterized by divinity, self-sacrifice, and reincarnation, is beautifully orchestrated. It’s fitting.

Personally, Im just bad at quick action. So the controls were sometimes a little frustrating, but it really wasn’t that bad. I could quickly get a hang of it when I found out what I did wrong. I can easily forgive the game for that, also because of the rest of what I just wrote.

Yes, yes, I haven’t played Breath of the Wild and newer games yet. Still, this was certainly one of the best, if not the best, The Legend of Zelda game I played so far. Which games (and if BotW, what kind of playstyle) would you recommend to me?

Discussion / Opinion Do people like the lanayru mining facility soundtrack ?

I absolutely love it and idk if it's unpopular. I think it gives such a special atmosphere to the dungeon and it really stood out to me when I played the game when I was around 10 yo. idk why but it scratches a special part of my brain and that feels so good 😭

Edit : people seem to like it 😂
