Meanwhile, those same companies will log keystrokes per minute and use FaceTime cameras to track your eyeball movement all in the name of improved "efficiency" under the heading "If you don't measure it, you can make it better" addage.

u/QuaaludeConnoisseur 5h ago

Im a machinist and the company I work for pulls machine data and we will get asked about down time or if we slow down specific settings on new parts they'll ask why we ran the machine slow for x amount of time. We call it the Big Brother program, its pretty annoying to have people who have never done the work ask professionals who do it all day to explain why they do what they do.

24

u/maringue 5h ago

This gets way worse in science. I had an executive business type ask me "Why is this test taking so long?"

"Because we have to wait for the cancer cells to grow."

He asked me why I couldn't make them grow faster. There is a PAINFUL detachment in the US between people running the companies and the people who actually do the work of the company.

5

u/LordCorgi 4h ago

Let's make this sink in more. Business executives want cancer to grow faster. Business executives...want cancer...to grow faster...

7

u/maringue 4h ago

To be clear, I could make them grow faster, but that would make the experiment pointless since the cells as they sit are supposed to be a model for human disease.

0

u/LordCorgi 4h ago

I'm sure you could, that's kind of my point though. If the cells are growing faster as this business person wants, and it's still a viable test, then that means cancer, in this theoretical world this executive craves, is actively worse and more aggressive than it is currently. I may be maximizing the evil here but this is what it sounds like they want taken to it logical conclusion.

u/LeftonRhed 5h ago

I've come to the realization that a significant amount of office and administration work is finding stuff to complain about so you can send emails and then pointing at all the emails you send as justification for why you should continue to have a job.

3

u/FBI_Open_Up_Now 5h ago

The truth of the matter is that many of the people asking the questions know the answer or know that what they’re asking is not really reasonable. It’s the top level being so demanding and people being afraid of losing their job that they will play ball with such stupidity and it makes them foolish for not having a backbone.

1

u/QuaaludeConnoisseur 5h ago

Do not get me started on the emails.... the horrors of a fortune 100 company inbox is palpable.

1

u/usernamesarehard1979 4h ago

I understand that, but look around at the absolute morons that you have for coworkers and you can see why some of this is necessary. I am in the industry too, in your case, the wrong people are looking at the reports.

1

u/Curious_Avocado2399 3h ago

Hey a manager with zero experience in the craft knows better than the dude who’s been doing it for decades! Won’t someone think of the managers! /S

It’s the same at my job. I had our manager shadow my work. All they said was “oh” haven’t heard a peep from them since

2

u/Gringo_Norte 4h ago

So you’re suggesting that measuring race is a good way of managing your work workforce? WTF?

This is the #1 reason I stopped using Chase for my business. Gave me the heebie-jeebies.

You should hire the best qualified for the position and should not have to hire by demographics or have a color quota.

I had a purple hair report me because she wasn't doing anything, so I set concrete and objective expectations to be finished by the time we meet next week. She said it was a hostile work environment. Then, I couldn't fire her for not doing them because it would appear to be retaliation.

She had something like 24,000 tweets a year.

u/GrahamCrackerDragon 1h ago

I'm surprised this is upvoted so much on reddit

It is illegal, everywhere in the US, to have a “color quota” or “hire by demographics” — as the law considers that discrimination.

Indeed, the point of collecting this data was to spot possible cases of discrimination.

If you want the best qualified people hired, you should want this data collected. The only reason to get rid of this data collection is if you think discriminatory hiring — that is, intentionally not hiring a qualified person on the basis of their race, gender, etc. — should be allowed

ETA: I guess another way of saying it is just “we literally collect this data because we don’t like color quotas / hiring by demographics”

-3

u/kon--- 6h ago

The point is of equal employment protections is the sheer abundance of someone who is best qualified is not hired because they're not the color, gender, or non-disabled employee the employer is looking for.

11

u/25nameslater 6h ago

Unfortunately here’s the thing about that… basing hiring practices on demographics to appear non biased creates the bias you’re fighting against.

You need more in depth investigation into companies to determine if they are racially or sexually discriminatory. Surface numbers are a lie that hides systemic biases. Any company can hire people to match key demographic needs that fail due to not being qualified, then just say we’re not bias because we met the numbers.

An employee who can succeed at one level isn’t necessarily going to fit another level. Opportunities given because they meet quotas are detrimental to both the organization and the employee.

3

u/kon--- 5h ago

You appear to be conflating the issue of affirmative action with clamping down on employers who show prejudices based on ethnicity, gender, and disabilities.

Making it illegal to turn someone down based on their ethnicity, gender or disability is not the same issue as laws meant to encourage a more diverse work force.

Which, the whole point of that is to, spread the wealth around. And hey call me biased but, more people having more money to spend works out for, more people.

3

u/brobits 5h ago

Discrimination based on these factors is already illegal. Passing a law to require reporting demographics doesn’t impact any individual hire. The intent of that law is to hire more minorities, period. Not the best person, not merit based. We already have laws enforcing no discrimination. We don’t need more

1

u/kon--- 5h ago

The intent of what law?

What even do you mean by minorities? Ethnicity? Gender? Disability?

What difference does it even make to you that a long standing practice is in place to monitor all sectors of the US population getting a fair shake?

Are yo of the mind that you should be hired ahead of someone who is more qualified for the role than you are based solely on your physical attributes?

Do you believe employers should turn down hiring people who are the best qualified for the role because that applicant happens to be a color or gender the employer has a prejudice against?

0

u/25nameslater 5h ago

You’re not spreading the wealth around though, you’re putting people into impossible positions and they fail. Companies often don’t demote people but terminate employment because of failure. Those people become destitute because they can’t perform in the environment they’re placed in and locating a job with similar salary levels is more difficult. Higher paid positions have a scarcity threshold and are often promoted to within the organization rather than from outside.

I’ve made the transition to supervisor 4 times in my life. Each time I’ve had to start at the bottom and prove my value. I’ve been looking for a comparable job for nearly a year now without success and been at my company for 10 years…

The vast majority of companies prefer people who already understand their organization and policies. I’ve seen firsthand the revolving door that undeserved promotions for equity creates.

u/SoulTechnicalProblem 3h ago

We need to dunk them in butter and throw them into the sun. Wait who are we talking about? Doesn't matter. Butter and sun.

1

u/2Blueify 2h ago

Bullshit.

-1

u/brobits 5h ago

Sheer abundance? Like the entire country is racist? Living in your world must be miserable

1

u/kon--- 5h ago

Look at you, projecting your miserable state at me while showing up assigning me inferences I did not use.

1

u/brobits 1h ago

what nonsense are you speaking? projecting my miserable state? you're repackaging my words?

two phrases to describe your behavior: lazy and intellectually void.

1

u/kon--- 1h ago

Doubling down on the projection of self at others, eh.

0

u/Knot-Lye-Ing 6h ago

What should happen and what does happen are miles apart.

Literally hundreds upon hundreds of years of evidence of that.

0

u/Think-State30 4h ago

Obama made it to the white house. I think your data is severely outdated.

1

u/Knot-Lye-Ing 3h ago

Obama was far, far, far more competent and capable than the other options.

What are you on about?

0

u/Think-State30 48m ago

Doesn't that prove my point? Lol

He was hired based on merit rather than color of his skin.. Are you even capable of seeing that?

1

u/Knot-Lye-Ing 45m ago

One black person being elected to an office is not some magical example of racism being gone nor is it an example of meritocracy being the default hiring process.

0

u/clutterlustrott 1h ago

"We had a black president y'all! Racism is solved! "

  • Absolute Morons

0

u/0zymandeus 1h ago

I cant possibly imagine why the Bush admin was concerned that his campaign would cause white nationalist terrorist groups to organize politically.

-7

u/StrawberryWide3983 6h ago

Do you know why they monitor demographics in the first place? Because companies were not hiring they best. They were losing out on good talent simply because they didn't want to hire people if they belonged to certain demographics

10

u/jb0nez95 6h ago

But that's not fixed by having quotas which is what the previous response was referring to specifically.

1

u/usernamesarehard1979 4h ago

Not only that, if companies are passing on good prospects because of bias, then they will not have the staff that has the best ability and business will suffer. If you are hiring for sales or management or anything really, you should be looking for the best candidate with the best fit, money is colorblind.

6

u/brobits 5h ago

This is complete speculation. This sub is soap boxing decades of obvious discrimination in hiring and provides zero examples. You live in a fantasy world

0

u/vi_sucks 5h ago

https://www.hrdive.com/news/tesla-settlement-race-discrimination-suit-fremont-california-plant/710626/

Brah. One of the main parts of Elon Musk's villain turn was losing a lawsuit over racial discrimination at Tesla. You think it's a coincidence his pal Trump is now gutting protections against racial discrimination?

They are doing this, very obviously, so that they and their friends can get away with being bigots.

1

u/Zoltarr777 5h ago

If I'm a company, why would I hire people who are worse at their jobs?

1

u/StrawberryWide3983 5h ago

Because the people in charge of hiring are stupid and discriminatory? Not everyone is a logical actor doing everything at 100% efficiency

-4

u/Acobbsalad 5h ago

People don’t do that. Look at our president. These rules were made for the reason most are made. There was an issues. Most rules like this are “written in blood”

0

u/Runktar 1h ago

Your right of course that's what's going to happen that's why in the 50's and 60's not a single woman or non white man was the head of a fortune 500 company or barley any executives at them because the bets candidate was just always an old white guy. Or maybe hear me out alot of the time people aren't actually hired or promoted based on skill but on the preconceived notions of those already in charge yes including blatant racism and sexism and statistics are useful tools in helping to fight that.

-6

u/vi_sucks 5h ago edited 5h ago

Tell that to the bigots.

The reason these reporting rules exist isn't to force a "quota". It's because even after it was made illegal to discriminate in hiring, people were still caught illegally discriminating after a bunch of long and expensive investigations and lawsuits. It's just cheaper and more efficient to get periodic reports that can be audited.

-5

u/MechemicalMan 3h ago

No one ever has a quota. Also, this comment shows that you’ve never actually hired someone.

When hiring someone and you have to choose between several different people, you typically have strengths and weaknesses of each one and you’re trying to figure out would be the best. If there is a clear best it wouldn’t be even a discussion. What happens though is people let their biases into it when everyone is about the same tier overall… or an individual is trying to pull nepotism or their loyal buddy. In both the macro and micro markets, this is why Black people have struggles to get jobs more than white people and it’s easily measurable.

1

u/j_d_q 4m ago

At a fortune 500 company we literally had meetings about hiring quarterly and were shown "black" "non black" pie charts. Were told it's a problem. I had a Chinese employee ask me if he's now considered white.

u/motorwerkx 6h ago

If you don't test for it or report it, then it's not happening. Our country is currently run by children.

4

u/Xoomers87 6h ago

Children tend to not be this conceited and full of pure malice...

14

u/imsickofitalready 6h ago

Children wouldn't do it. It is running by psycho maniacs.

Yeah, I'm giving those ghouls too much credit. I'm acting as if they're stupid and not maliciously manipulating the stupid people.

10

u/Poophands1984 6h ago

I work in a medical lab, and I had coworkers during covid saying if we just stopped testing for it it will go away.

Just because someone has a job in medicine means they are intelligent at all.

-11

u/randyfloyd37 6h ago

When the tests are objectively bullshit like the PCRs were, then they are correct

6

Lol, you clearly know nothing about PCR

He did his own research lol

1

u/motorwerkx 4h ago

The propoganda got you hook line and sinker. Consider that you're responding to someone that works in the lab. Do you actually feel objectively more knowledgeable about the efficacy of the lab results than the person providing the results?

The DJT Covid Strategy

3

u/res0jyyt1 6h ago

Lol at MAGAs who think this is actually Pro American until they find out corporates don't have to disclose their 80% H1B demographic anymore.

2

u/aukstais 6h ago

Report what? How many asian H1B visa holders have they hired instead of Americans? Yeah, those people count as diversity and are cheaper labour than Americans, so I dont think that reporting these things changes anything. And also of a company has 10 white people and 0 diversity hires, does that prove any discrimination? Maybe if you have 100 employees and they are all white, you could think that maybe something is up, but then again why would you work for the company that you think is racist against you?

2

u/PermissionPermitted 6h ago

Might there be other reasons an H1-b was hired?

1

u/motorwerkx 4h ago

You report everything and then the numbers can be objectively scrutinized. I feel like people have gotten so used to non-discrimination practices that they have forgotten why they are in place. It's become so commonplace that people think that it is just a level of bureaucracy that was never needed. There also seems to be a more commonly held belief that racism is somehow gone in this country as if we don't have a federal task force that is harassing brown people under the guise of immigration enforcement.

I pose it in that manner to point out that we need to be reporting these things still to keep the racists in check. Despite the United States history of blatant racism, We the People means all of the people and we should continue to strive to treat all Americans the same way regardless of race. If a business owner can't do that then they don't need to own a business in this country. It's not a matter of why would you want to work for somebody who you believe is racist, the question should be, why is a racist in charge of employing Americans? As far as foreign Visa holders, that's a nationalistic issue that I don't really care about. It's not at all relevant in terms of keeping the racists in check.

1

u/ilaister 4h ago

Where do MENAs hiring nobody but their own background fit into keeping racists in check?

1

u/motorwerkx 3h ago

Any chance you could translate that into english?

1

u/2Blueify 2h ago

Then you can do the reporting for free and stop putting stupid regulations on business that do nothing but further the racial divide. Not fix it.

1

u/motorwerkx 1h ago

As a business owner myself, I fully promote the regulations put in place to discourage racism. They don't affect me any because I'm not a racist.. It's not furthering the racial divide, it's just upsetting racists.

1

u/2Blueify 39m ago

As a business owner myself, I do because they are stupid and I don't want to waste my time and resources reporting this garbage. There, our anecdotes equal each other out.

1

u/motorwerkx 33m ago

Apathy to the problem is just another form of racism. You equaled out the anecdotes and out of yourself as part of the problem. It seems that the scale is still in my favor.

1

u/2Blueify 29m ago

Scales don't do you any favors. Don't lie.

19

u/mars_soup 6h ago

Not sure why anyone would be against this.

It’s no one’s business who a company employs or what color their skin is. Keep the government out of decisions like this and don’t let them influence it.

Want to be black owned and black-ran? Have at it.

Proudly woman owned and operated? Good for you for finding a business model that works.

We don’t need Trump or any other part of the government to influence hiring.

16

u/dadebattle1 6h ago

Wait, is white owned and white-ran cool too?

10

u/cdazzo1 5h ago

No, white people are the only ones not allowed to do this.

-1

u/mars_soup 5h ago

No because it will destroy the other businesses and monopolize the market.

1

u/I-came-for-memes 5h ago

These laws only applied to companies that take government money.

3

u/usernamesarehard1979 4h ago

And after PPP that's just about everyone.

1

u/mars_soup 5h ago

Even more reason to not have the government influence hiring.

These businesses should be striving for success based purely on performance metrics, not racial demographics.

0

u/I-came-for-memes 5h ago

That would be nice, except we have history proving the opposite.

0

u/9fingerwonder 6h ago

That's.....how you get Jim Crow. We did this as a country. It's not good.

3

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

You don’t know shit about Jim Crow if you think the two are related

-2

u/jammed7777 5h ago

Man, you really have to ignore most of our nations history to have an opinion like this.

11

u/19XxxbigdaddyxxX80 6h ago

Because it was imposed to stop hiring of whites, now they don't want anyone to know how few whites are being hired.

4

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

Yep. Want to see discrimination? Watch an Indian VP run off direct reports and replace them with other Indians.

1

u/CMDR_Tauri 25m ago

I'd think this was a joke if I hadn't seen it happen. And it's done incredibly quickly.

-4

u/PermissionPermitted 6h ago

I think that’s probably the opposite of what is true

-5

u/Acobbsalad 5h ago

I wish I was as ignorant as you. Life would be less stressful.

-7

u/jammed7777 5h ago

Why are people upvoting this?

4

u/DelcoPAMan 5h ago

From the same people who said that not counting Covid deaths means that the pandemic was over.

The same people who now under-report wounded service members from this Iran thing.

7

u/res0jyyt1 6h ago

Lol at MAGAs who think this is actually Pro American until they find out corporates don't have to disclose their 80% H1B demographic anymore.

2

u/cdazzo1 5h ago

No one cares about the demographic. They care it's H1B. This makes the exact opposite point of what you think.

-1

u/res0jyyt1 5h ago

And jokes to you thinking corporates will start hiring all Americans. Just look at MAGA Taylor Farm who exclusively buying their lettuce from Mexico.

1

u/Cancer_Ridden_Lung 5h ago

Wouldn't that be a separate bucket monitored by DHS/DOL?

4

u/brobits 5h ago

Yes. Big brain political jabronis saying dumb things

4

u/Nacho_cheese_guapo 6h ago

Employers should be allowed to hire or fire anyone they want, on top of this being a pointless and costly reporting requirement. Based.

-5

u/Middle-Wrangler2729 6h ago

Even if the employer is racist and only hires a single race to work there? Or sexist and only allows a certain sex to work there?

4

u/Nacho_cheese_guapo 6h ago

Yes, that's freedom of association guaranteed in the constitution.

-5

u/Feisty_Hurry_722 5h ago

Nacho over here saying what’s the big deal about segregated shit, freedom of association. Off the bone cooked.

5

u/Nacho_cheese_guapo 5h ago

I'm not advocating for discrimination. If a white man wants to own a whites only restaurant, he's a POS and likely a terrible business man. But that should be his right, to associate and serve who he wants since it's his business.

1

u/abd53 6h ago

If a private employer wants to do that out should be their right to do that. You also have the right to not patronize businesses you don't like.

4

u/Biscuits4u2 6h ago

So getting rid of things is a good way to solve problems, huh? Interesting.

3

u/Gringo_Norte 4h ago

“Administrative rule designed to harass companies for not hiring people based on race eliminated” – there, fixed it for you.

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

God forbid they hire and promote people based on competence, skills and their contribution to the organization.

4

u/Horsey2828 6h ago

The USA is going backwards.

3

u/Decent_Visual_4845 5h ago

Only if you’ve been fooled into thinking that policies like this were moving the country forwards

7

u/thaddeus122 6h ago

Why ive stopped calling conservative by that name and started calling them regressives. It's one thing to move a little back on policy and try to keep the status quo, but trying to kove policy back 80 years? Yeah, no.

2

u/Homer4a10 6h ago

I think pre-Trump I genuinely would’ve considered myself a conservative.

I have been pushed to the left very hard by Trump

-2

u/ResplendentNugs 6h ago

What good has conservatism ever brought to the world. Having an open mind is 100% better than being a close minded bigot 100% of the time

3

u/FormalKind7 5h ago

Generally you are right in the argument of stagnation vs progress though not every new law, practice or technology is good or ready for wide use.

For instance with AI I'd argue people wanting to protect workers and slow down the building of data centers are actually being conservative in the classic sense.

-1

u/ResplendentNugs 5h ago

Progressivism isn’t just change for no reason at all. That how it’s framed by conservatives to sow dissent. We however have centuries of evidence of conservatives always reverting to racism and bigotry combined with fear mongering

2

u/FormalKind7 5h ago

I'm just talking about the idea of conservatism not the people who lbel themselves such.

My example with AI, many recent supreme court decisions overturning precedent, etc are all examples of bad actions that are against conservative philosophy but still pushed by people labeling themselves conservatives. So essentially they are conservative when it is bad but also not conservative when it is bad.

I'm not claiming progressives in government are trying to create change for no reason.

But the philosophy of progressivism is pushing for change (presumably positive) and challenging the status quo.

The philosophy of conservatism is resisting or slowing change (presumably for fear of negative consequences).

The actual people using either label are not actually progressive or conservative on every issue in every circumstance. I think the idea that positive change is possible is generally a great force for good than the idea that negative change is likely but both lines of thought have their place. Its just the politicians that prefer the latter to the former tend to be terrible people (and honestly more often than not bad actors in it for personal gain rather than actually trying to help society IMO).

1

u/ResplendentNugs 5h ago

This isn’t a semantics argument tho. Not to mention the same people that hold your point of view will be the same ones to tell me socialism is bad because the government that have used it were corrupt

1

u/FormalKind7 4h ago

Man I'm not making a semantic argument I was responding to your comment based on exactly what you said,

which was

"What good has conservatism ever brought to the world. Having an open mind is 100% better than being a close minded bigot 100% of the time"

If you were saying what good have conservative politicians in the US done that is an entirely different conversation and while I'm sure some conservative politician somewhere has performed an action preventing taking down a beloved park or something I think it is pretty obvious they are generally not a force for good and I would not be interested in hunting for a counter example.

I was discussing conservative thought and its purpose not conservative labeled people and their goals/actions which are completely different things.

Like you said their is big difference between socialist philosophy/ideas and the actions of some historical figures that have claimed the label and conflating the two is wrong. It is weird that you bring that up as some sort of defense for why you should be doing it.

Also in this context you playing semantics by conflating conservatives and conservatism doesn't even serve a rhetorical point as I would label myself as progressive and you don't need to use bad arguments to convince me the current conservative movement or historically most conservative movements at least in the US are bad for society.

1

u/ResplendentNugs 4h ago

Conservatism as a concept is just something used by powerful elite to remain in power. The only people who want to keep everything the same are those who stand to lose the most from changing. No amount of mental gymnastics changes that

u/Homer4a10 5h ago

This is a pretty ironic stance to have in my opinion, republicans have set some good standards in regard to free trade, middle class tax breaks, criminal enforcement policy, and discrimination in the education system here in America.

But there isn’t really anything to be conservative about in the big 2026.

-1

u/ResplendentNugs 5h ago

When was the last Republican president that did what you said though? Republicans presidents have been terrible for the economy forever.

1

u/Homer4a10 5h ago

Eisenhower was pretty fantastic, and Reagan was bad, but Reagan did have some good come out of his policy.

I actually tend to agree with you though, recent history has proven modern day republicans can’t manage an economy

-6

u/redditman3943 6h ago

So according to you we should have discriminatory hiring policies based off race? Or no?

3

u/thaddeus122 6h ago

We should have to prove we're not being discriminatory. Theres no need to hire by quota, but if you have 200 employees and live in an area where 30% of the population of is minorities and you have 10 minority people, theres probably something going on.

5

u/ResplendentNugs 6h ago

1 white person gets denied something : “OMMG WOKE RACISTS ARE RUINING HIS COUNTRY IS IT OK TO BE WHITE ANYMORE “

Minorities get oppressed for centuries : “BRO RACISM IS OVER MAN THE FUCK UP “

1

u/redditman3943 5h ago

So are you saying the best way to remedy discrimination in the past is to discriminate today?

1

u/ResplendentNugs 5h ago

I’m saying it’s an idiotic stance to immediately cry about discrimination when it happens to a white person, especially when it probably isn’t even discrimination, then dismiss minorities having it harder because they sealed with actual oppression for centuries. Like you can’t just say ok racism is over then everything is suddenly equal.

2

u/redditman3943 5h ago

You are making a lot of assumptions about my arguments. I am suggesting you should be able to hire however you want. If you want an all black staff that’s cool. If you want and all white staff that’s cool too.

1

u/ResplendentNugs 5h ago

So your argument is to turn a blind eye to racism because you’re free to be racist in any manner you want? It’s going to disproportionately affect black people and minorities more. Like you want me to fully understand your argument but the more you explain it the worse it looks

u/redditman3943 5h ago

You absolutely have the right to be racist. You are not allowed to commit any crimes against anybody for any reason, including racism. But if you have freedom of choice and free association in this country than you are completely free to be racist

I also believe that the negative consequences of people being allowed to possibly discriminatory hiring practices is less dangerous than allowing the government to dictate who you hire and classify your employees into different priority groups based on race. Any sort of race based hiring parentheses is inherently racist

I don’t think you understand my point. I’m not suggesting you sue people at all. I’m suggesting Americans should be free to hire whatever race of people they please. If you wanna have an entirely black stuff, go ahead. If you want an entirely Hispanic staff go ahead. If you wanna staff entirely of south Asian descent, go ahead. And if you want a staff entirely of white people, you can do that too.

1

u/thaddeus122 5h ago

I already addressed what you're saying and so have others. You are not free to be a racist cunt in this country when your actions have affects on others. Equal opportunity is essential to keeping people from falling behind just because of your biases, black, asian or white.

0

u/I-came-for-memes 5h ago

Americans ARE free to hire whomever they want, it's only if they receive government money that they are required to diversify.

0

u/redditman3943 5h ago

Yeah and that’s wrong too.

0

u/redditman3943 6h ago

First off the government has no place telling you who you can I cannot hire and should not be classifying it citizens into different categories based off frivolous things like skin, color, and ethnic background.

But also policies like this certainly enforce one way. If I had a business and a predominantly white area and had an entirely minority staff. I would be praised by the community and the government. But if you have an all white staff you’re evil?

1

u/Ecstatic-Election-92 6h ago

Wrong. The government plays a huge role in hiring. So too with housing. What do you think the EEOC is? Lmao

-1

u/macgruber9210 6h ago

I think the term 'fascist' is more appropriate.

-1

u/Faucet860 6h ago

It's too over used. It is fitting but it only enrages or causes apothy in the masses. Regressives can actually change minds

2

u/cdazzo1 5h ago

Yeah, we need to be making race more prominent not less

1

u/pattebrisee 6h ago

Can’t find discrimination if you stop collecting the evidence. Big brain shit.

Meritocracy people are fine with the country ran by a reality TV star.

Stop acting like people don’t see race and just choose the best applicant. That’s not real life. These people also think “justice is blind”

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

Oh for ffs. Get over yourself. Bad things happen because people are involved. Getting government people involved only makes it worse.

It’s not about equality it’s about advantage and having the government enforce that advantage is highly discriminatory

0

u/Acobbsalad 2h ago

You’re not living in day to day reality. What you’re saying sounds nice tho. Sure

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 57m ago

Really, I raised four kids as their sole financial and emotional support. Fuck you. What are you, fifteen? What’s YOUR life experience?

0

u/Acobbsalad 56m ago

Your personal experience doesn’t mean it’s the reality for 350 million other people. Nothing you said changes reality.

Someone should solve the problem of "who cropped that photo like that?". JFC

His timeless wisdumb really applies to almost anything:

‘If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any’

1

u/H4XX0R-787 2h ago

America's speedrun regression 100%, all cheats, exploits, etc, allowed.

1

u/Federal_Studio5935 6h ago

Yep, it's like covid testing. It's not a problem if you just stop testing.

Inequality in the work place? It's gone now. They solved it!

1

u/Bonk0076 6h ago

This sub sure sucks the life out of you now. It used to be fun.

1

u/boyuber 6h ago

You can't have a COVID pandemic if you don't test for COVID.

1

u/SoRosenberg 6h ago

Interesting how the people saying this is bad agreed when US prisons and police did the same thing.

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

Yes we remember the open prisons full of trans and gays from the first Trump administration. /s

0

u/Flashy_Emergency_263 5h ago

Can you expand on your comment, please. It's is not clear. What precisely did police and prisons stop reporting?

1

u/Skullsandcoffee 5h ago

I’m running out of pages in my notebook of things we need to “unfuck” in 2 years.

-2

u/VarrikTheGoblin 6h ago

This is what happens when you allow octagenarians to decide on laws. Just a reminder that someone that is 80 years old today was born in 1945-1946. Desegregation didn't start until 1954. A distubing number of people deciding laws right now were alive to remember the hate and outrage that came from Brown vs. the Board of Education.

1

u/cdazzo1 5h ago

So more old people means we talk about race less? I did want ypunger politicians but now I'm reconsidering

-1

u/gpbayes 6h ago

It is not just 80 year olds. The right is entirely rabid and wants a white Christian ethnostate

0

u/TellTaleTimeLord 3h ago

When conservatives say "woke is dead" what they really mean is "we can be as much of a racist piece of shit as we want now"

0

u/Disastrous_You4193 5h ago

Next week: EEOC votes to ban eyes so no one can see discrimination either

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

How much real world work experience do you have?

-1

u/LesnBOS 6h ago

Where do we comment? There isn't anything to do but strike in the US. But we don't know that we own this government because we pay their salaries, not the oligarchs. Americans feel helpless but we have never been. We just have to actually strike like every other country does that have kept their rights. We've been taught to turn on each other because it keeps the kleptocratic oligarchy in power.

1

u/Kilroy1007 5h ago

People like you live in a bubble. Do you know how many people can't afford to miss a single day of work? And of the people who can, how many do you think can afford to lose their job? Corporations have created an environment where labor is expendable no matter the situation. They can afford to halt production and terminate every single person who tries to strike or unionize, so doing either of those things is an unrealistic goal to most Americans.

Oh I almost forgot. The people that can afford to lose their jobs aren't the people suffering under this system. They're not the ones being held down with a corporate boot on their neck.

-1

u/NSASpyVan 6h ago

With this sub, I half expect people to ask if the woman pictured was the 'large employer'.

-1

u/Electrical-Heat8960 4h ago

Such a step backwards. Though I just kinda assumed Trump had already done this.

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 2h ago

Horseshit. Just retired after 40 years in corporate America. So much money wasted on bullshit. Several times I ended up working for bad, not just incompetent, bad people who got promoted because they needed a woman or a minority in that role and they were literally the only ones there. This happened despite huge red flags that would have shut down a white male three promotions back.

1

u/Electrical-Heat8960 2h ago

My co-workers are roughly half black / mixed.

Work ethic and attitude does not in any way corporate to their skin colour.

Some of the most completely people I’ve worked with are women. Some of the biggest idiots are men.

I’ve seen plenty of men promoted entirely because of their race, skin colour, and accent.

Shit, I used just that to get promoted myself several times. A posh accent, a nice smile, and being a white man has given me roles I was not qualified for.

1

u/Altruistic_Tea_1593 54m ago

Exactly. Hire fire and promote on competence. I’ve always worked on mixed teams and the only issues with affirmative action wastoids have been new hires and up and coming promotables just stopping in on their way up the ladder. Our job was hard so the work itself eventually sorted people out
