From what I've heard, for a full-blown heart attack they perform a field cardiac bypass surgery, where they inject a small pipe into the heart muscle to bypass a clot that had formed in cardiac artery. Otherwise they just try to revive the heart activity with adrenaline, AED and series of chest compressions.
But I'm not a doctor; I've only read an article once. I'm confident an actual doctor or a paramedic is about to come in and call me an idiot.

You’ve conflated a lot of things here. A cardiac arrest just means the heart stops beating, or beats in a way incompatible with life. If you are in arrest, CPR is the gold standard along with epinephrine and defibrillation (depending on the arrhythmia). On a plane that’s about the limit of your options.
If your arrest if from a heart attack (aka myocardial infarction), the treatment in a hospital is called a cardiac catheterization. This is where they place a wire in the artery of your wrist or groin, guide it in realtime into the heart, inject dye to see the blocked artery, and either use a balloon to dilate the vessel and/or place a stent to keep it open. Bypass surgery is done when there are multiple blockages in multiple vessels and stents are no appropriate. This is an actual surgery where your sternum is cut open and the heart vessels treated.
On a plane, a gaggle of cardiologists are only effective in doing cpr. It’s like being late to get to the airport and having a formula one driver take you. Sure they are really good drivers, but on regular roads in a Honda civic they aren’t at the full capability.

Now now, we’ll have none of this expert information here, this is Reddit, home of armchair experts and hyperbole. Also I’m not sure if ‘gaggle’ is the correct group noun for cardiologists, an ‘infarct’ maybe. I would hope they have a CPR pack on board with adrenaline mini jet. O2 and ambubag as a minimum.

Seems like this would be a Hail Mary attempt but if this is considered then the situation is dire….
I wonder if this procedure is commonly taught in western medicine? In most metros they have interventional cardiology support so unlikely this scenario would occur to practice?

They can administer some medicine(common cardiac medications that I’m sure other people or even the cardiologists had on the flight) to help open the vessels and prevent arrhythmias to stabilize her before taking her into the hospital for either surgery or cardiac catheterization. It’s not only the blockage that ends up killing people, it’s when the heart decides to beat in an abnormal rhythm(arrhythmia) that kills them. The medications help keep it from beating abnormally and opening the vessels to provide better blood flow in their heart arteries. Some people can feel the same pain whether the artery is 40% blocked or 90% blocked so they could end up going to the hospital and not need a procedure because the vessels opened up more from the medication. They end up getting put on those cardiac medications and monitored regularly by cardiologists. Heart disease unfortunately is a silent killer if you don’t monitor your health regularly. Many people end up first time diagnosed after events like this.

This is nonsense, whilst cardiologist know exactly what's going on physiologically, without they're machines they're no better than a community first responder. Community first responders are definitely better than cardiologist at CPR. I'd prefer 15 paramedics, better still at CPR. Everyone is useless without their equipment. I assume there was a basic defibrillator on board.

CPR, sure. But anyone can use the defibrillator on a plane, by design. It's an AED. Put the stickers on the patient and press the big button. It does the rest. There's nothing else you can with it. Even in full hospitals a proper manual defib is very rare these days. Because just simply being a doctor doesn't qualify you to use it, it's too dangerous, and too easy to fuck up.
