That's not quite fair but I agree to a point. A significant portion of the "100 million" are disenfranchised and totally forgotten by both political parties. They don't have the Mamdanis and the AOCs who actually knock on their doors and show up to assembly halls. They have the average fundraiser types whose only mission is to stay in office and take a taxpayer funded paycheck with healthcare sprinkled on top, in the hopes of finding a special interest group fuck buddy. They're also often times victims of severe gerrymandering anyway, or propaganda cushioned by said gerrymandering.

There are elections where both candidates are simply equally horrible. And there are elections where both are “meh but qualified”.
This was not one of those elections. The idiots who fell for - let’s be honest - many astroturfed protests - are getting the results of their temper tantrums just like the rest of us.
Blech. 🤮

u/monetaryslave 21h ago
This rhetoric doesn't help and only divides the working class. It is not the fault of the people if they didn't get a good education, and calling them stupid won't get them to see your point of view. When you go to voters and say, "Make this country mean something that aligns with your values," that resonates a lot more than, "We are the intellectual elite and have your best interests in mind, and you're a loser idiot peasant if you don't vote for us."
25
u/Cold-Confection6091 20h ago edited 18h ago
As someone who grew up in conservative circles in the deep south - you are absolutely right.
Turns out calling people idiots works about as good today as it has for the last 50 years.
But, it is far easier than admitting the complexities of life.
Never trust a stance that is self serving and simplying at the same time. Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to ignorance.

He took a racist, misogynistic, dumbed down, nationalistic, narcissistic populace and raced with them. Those were the people "on his side" and there's way too damn many of them.
The only reason he's crashing and burning now is because of oil and grocery prices, income inequality is getting too big to ignore. People are now starting to realize that's more important than 5 trans people in the entire country playing sports or immigrants being rounded up. Things which did not affect them in the slightest.
Other people's deaths, Israel's genocide, him stealing hundreds of millions, the death of Democracy, Epstein files and perpetrators running free didn't mean anything to them.
6

There's far more clear guidelines in the Constitution with what to do with an incapacitated president than senator. I can't believe JD would pass up the opportunity to take the big chair at the first chance. There is no legal way to stop him from using the 25th Amendment in that scenario.
122
u/Jesus_of_NASDAQ 21h ago
You’re right, but since everyone within Trumps most evilest of the evil circle hates Vance with a searing passion, chances are they’d hide it from him too.
75
u/Mr_Beats_73 20h ago
JD will find out sooner or later when he realizes he’s blackballed from all these meetings. He will lead an internal coup and the GOP will likely have an internal divide between the “True MAGA” led by Trump’s loyalist advisors and the Anti Trump Union led likely by JD. Vance would likely become president and then have to face a MAGA candidate in an incredibly heated primary that could nearly break the party.
54
u/Past_Divide6184 19h ago
Jd doesn’t have the ball’s or the smarts, he’s purely a stooge for the same people trump is a stooge for.
12
u/Ire-Works 17h ago
You'd think that, but Vance is backed by the technocrat billionaires. MAGA exists because of facebook algorithms. They don't need to work hard to get them to do stupid shit. Enough will fall in line and those who don't will get made an example of - because pretty much everyone in Trump's inner circle is guilty of all kinds of shit and are clearly very bad at covering it up because they think they're immune.

That's a big ask, to keep information of that magnitude secret. After the second week of zero Trump public appearances, people will go to jail if they prevent Congressional investigations. When JD eventually does become president, he could go on a legit revenge tour. Covering for the giant gasbag won't be worth it in the estimation of a lot of people.
Sycophants will leak info and jump to JD's boat, especially when all those promised presidential pardons are unsigned.

JD would rather take over after 1/20/27 than before. So if Trump punches his ticket in December, they will do the same thing
2
u/Dear_Chasey_La1n 18h ago
Everything stops when there is no willingness to do what's right and/or follow basic law. They will bend backwards to avoid an election as we speak. Just like they did with SCOTUS and when not.
The irony in all this would be, it isn't the first time and yet Democrats are sitting backwards chilling out. They should be outraged, they should ask questions day in day out, they should go there and demand to see that sack of meat showing zero sign of life.
2
u/ElizBorneopentowork 17h ago
Actually, of Trump bites the dirt in early January 2027, it is likely he would want to pull the same move. If he get's in office once there is less than 2 years to serve then it does not count as serving a full mamdate and he can run twice.
2
u/SleepyLabrador 17h ago
I can't believe JD would pass up the opportunity to take the big chair at the first chance.
Because they're waiting past the halfway point, that way they can get 10 years with Vance. Plus MAGA hate Vance.
2
u/EuenovAyabayya 17h ago
If it happens after January he probably would, but you gotta know he wants two full terms for himself as if that's a thing.
→ More replies (2)4
u/Ire-Works 17h ago
Not only is JD not going to pass up that chance, that was the plan from the start. Trump didn't pick JD. His donors made him take JD. Vance is there to do one thing - Stab Trump in the back and do the technocrat's will for 10 years.
People say "Oh well MAGA will never go for that" but forget A) More "moderate" republicans will be happy enough to see Trump go. and B) MAGA is easily influenced and the technocrats own everything that brainwashes them. They'll fall in line.
Meanwhile Vance will be boring enough that a lot of the lukewarm "protest on the weekend" liberals will fall off and stop paying attention. Judges will get appointed. Laws will get passed. America will slowly crust over all the awful shit Trump's lackies have rammed through and the Democratic party will continue to be ineffective at doing fuck all to stop it.

I sometimes think what trump accuses of Democrats of doing, he does it but in an exaggerating matter. For example, Trump accused Democrats of hiding Biden's cognitive ability even though it was one rough night during the debate. I would like to thank our friends on the left for providing daily reminders of the Iron Law of Woke Projection. This is the maxim that states that the left is always accusing the right of what they themselves are doing.
Case in point: all four years of the Joe Biden administration.
Any sane and rational person understood that Joe Biden was mentally compromised, deficient and incapable of doing the job. However, the Democrats were quite content to keep him propped up like El Cid and would have done it again for the 2024 campaign if he hadn't blatantly melted down on live TV in front of everyone in a fashion so spectacular that it could not be spun or ignored.
Remember, once you see the Iron Law of Woke Projection, you cannot unsee it.
