Thought I’d try something different

I call it "The Important Ones", it took me quite some time to finally figure it all out but I'm quite happy with how it all turned out :)

Used a very small diamond and very simple ring design. Had some issues with a divot forming just next to the stone, but is not affecting holding strength. Just looks odd. Still not great at design yet and am using very rudimentary, mostly homemade or diy material, but I feel like I am learning a lot.

Bonus spider web ring in last photo I also cast.

We just got into sand casting silver and my 15 year old son made this from a Lego. He is super freaking excited!

I'm 23 years old from the PH. I want to start lost wax casting but I don't know what brand and where to buy? I have a slightly good budget. What brands do you recommend and where to buy it?

Where abouts should I attach the wax sprue for this piece also size recommendation for the sprue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, pretty much what the title says. I have wax carved what I want to be a serving bowl but the casters I usually go to said they can't guarantee it being food safe. I want to cast it in solid sterling silver.

Struggling to find any other casters/information online, so would appreciate any help!

Details are getting stronger. Now just need to dial in my investment recipe to prevent failures.

Sterling silver. 112 Grams. Investment cast.

Using 100% recycled/recovered sterling from old flatware.

The bubbles around the chin, is that from my silver being too hot? Impurities? (I used borax at the beginning and end of my melt.)

Other imperfections appear to be mold failure issues that I can figure out.

I’m looking for castings houses that will cast silver- and do the clean up for a side project I have.
They will be 3D modeled- so would need to have capacity to print and cast.
I know there is a place in Chicago but they have a 2500 min.
Overseas would be ok- as this is a side project for myself that I just don’t have the time to clean up myself.

Are there any places that offer custom casting in gold or silver that I would be able to bring in a wax model or send a 3D file? I’m in Columbus and there’s not a huge jewelry scene or anything and I don’t mind sending stuff out but ideally it’s somewhere around here.

Fairly new to this casting thing and I’ve recently printed off these Cuban links for a bracelet (8inches) and this is how it came out the printer is there anything I need to add(sprue) or cut off before sending it off the casters any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

My Dad’s friend asked if I could make him a silver Scorpion pendent.

 I live in the UK, he wanted the scorpion to be within the size of a £2 coin. So first I had to find a scorpion to make a mould, which was the size. I found it very difficult to find a scorpion within the size he wanted. 

 I have done casting at an evening class with a furnace (which the tutor usually poured) and have casting equipment at home such as crucible bowls, MAPP gas torch and delft clay with an aluminium casting flask.

 Can anyone give me advice on how to do this? Such as; Can you only cast certain shapes? How do you cast smaller more complex shapes?

Im casting resin 3d prints for first time and im wondering about propper sprue placement on this ring, is there something that should be changed about sprues?

Im using Liqcreate Wax castable resin.

Something I’ve been working on… suggestions on how I can improve results?

I troll ebay when I can for reasonably priced bulk lots of "junk silver" jewlery. Then I melt them to make silly coins to satisfy my inner mountain dwarf.... Looking to get into lost casting and vacuum molding soon.

• The Yes/No coin was a sand casting
• The coins on the top and cross are double sided graphite molds
• The leftover poured into little bars were a one sided mold..
• The "Magical Silver Poop emoji" was when it was cooling as I poured the very last bit....

For context both are pure silver and were cast into pre heated graphite molds. The one on the left was melted with mapgas while the one on the right was melted with propane. Anyone have any advice on how to achieve clean smooth shiny ripples on larger casts?

I am looking to buy a gift for a buddy who just finished his first deal after starting a company. He is an avid hunter.

Good afternoon everyone,
This is a follow up attempt after using some recommendations from my previous post. Using a clean graphite crucible and nothing else but pure silver.

Pour info:
.999 silver -985c (using 100% pure silver crystal)
Flask temp -600c
Pulling 27-29in vacuum on flask at time of pour (gauge verified)

I have a propane torch pointed at the bowl of the mold as I pour, as well as map gas on the crucible. All pours happen quickly after crucible is removed from the furnace. I let the vacuum pump run for ~1min after the pour, then I shut it off as well as the propane torch at that time. I wait 14 minutes before flask quench and model removal.

When removing the plaster, these bubble areas are already shiny, leading me to think it’s likely an air pocket forming somehow? I’m unsure what would cause these pockets under such a heavy vacuum.
