I just finished a 17-minute short film dedicated to my late cat. Since I’m submitting it to festivals soon, I can’t post it publicly, but I’d love to share a private screener with this community.

I’ve created a new found footage video in Unreal engine 5, using some new tools I’ve been learning.

Welcome Home Frankie is a short film written and directed by Carlie McCann about a young man Frankie coming home from rehab to a past he no longer recognizes.

Here goes

This is a found footage/short horror video, the is a shorter video than others I’ve made, I make these in 3D software like unreal engine. And I’ve been playing around with the metahuman characters which are like realistic human models.

It was fun to have some human like characters in this and even show the protagonists face and show him speaking.

I try to pick up new skills in the software for these videos so I hope people enjoy, but feel free to leave some feedback as that’s how most of us can improve.

Last September, a small team of us shot an independent short film over four days in Bulgaria.

The project was completely self-funded. Most of the budget went into equipment and hiring our lead actress, who is a professional actor here in Bulgaria. The film is in English, the performances are very good, and we're proud of the script and the material we captured.

The film currently runs around 23 minutes. Most of the story takes place in a single location, which makes pacing especially important.

The movie has already been edited, but we're looking for someone who would be interested in joining the project and helping us complete the final artistic pass. This is unfortunately an unpaid collaboration, so we're mainly looking for a student editor, emerging filmmaker, or someone who enjoys working on indie passion projects and wants another credit for their portfolio.

The remaining work includes:

• Creating opening one-minute video using a music montage and selected shots from the film.
• Designing and adding end credits.
• Applying a subtle film-stock / analog aesthetic.
• Incorporating a few intentional "damaged film" effects in several moments where focus drifts or characters appear to jump slightly between takes.

We're not looking for heavy restructuring or a complete re-edit. The film is already assembled and working; this is mainly about refining the atmosphere and presentation.

Our goal is to submit the film to Sofia Film Fest and maybe several European independent film festivals next year.
