Mods PSA: “The Lodge”

I’ve been working with someone with ties to the city that is dealing with the current halt in the demolition of the “Lodge” (IYKYK) and am going to draw a hard line on this building.

It is such a unique and old piece of architecture, and the only thing like it this state. There’s currently efforts being set forth to demolish the building to put up a bunch basic ass ugly af apartments and shopping center. The current plans are on hold while a lawsuit plays out to try and save the building.

But to the dumb fucks who keep breaking in, vandalizing, and destroying this building… you are playing an active role in destroying a piece of history and architecture that is dead in the modern world. The more shit you destroy, the more expensive it will become to repurpose the building and bring it up to code. At some point, the big banks are going to win the battle because they can’t outbid the banks all because you think a poorly drawn dick on the wall is what the place really needs.

This is a chance for this community to do the right thing and help save such a beautiful building from being wiped from this planet. Moving forward, you can freely talk about this place to help raise word of mouth awareness of its beauty and are encouraged to share your explorers of this building. But if you are actively breaking in from this point forward, you will be immediately banned from ever participating in this sub again. End of story.

Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. ✌️

Welcome to the sub!

As the newest member of the Mod team, I want to reiterate the basic message of this sub and add emphasis to future enforcement of our community rules.

Please abide by the sub rules. We only have 4, they are not difficult to follow, and help ensure that this community preserves the locations we have and keeps them, and the communities they exist in, safe for all to enjoy for years to come. You are highly encouraged to report any posts or comments that violate the rules.

• First offense for posting an easily identifiable or specific location, being a troll, or just generally being toxic: 30 day ban. • Second offense: Permanent ban.

You are, of course, welcome to exchange location information privately. Do not do so in public comments.

Lastly, we now have post flares. Please add a flare to your posts to keep the community organized. If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach the Mod team via Mod Mail and we will take all suggestions into consideration!

Thanks for joining this community, happy exploring! And remember, take nothing but pictures and leave only footprints!

This place was super cool, it is in between 2 nicer houses so I would be careful about getting caught. Not sure how it came to be

been curious about that microsoft building that's been sitting vacant for quite a while now. every time i pass by it, i wonder what's going on with it and whether there are any plans for the property. does anyone know the history behind why it's been empty for so long or if it's supposed to be redeveloped? i'd be interested in hearing anything people know about its current status. thinkin bout hittin dat mf soon though tbh

Hey beautiful humans

I’ve got a little side quest for anyone who loves wandering, exploring, or following weird threads the universe puts in front of them.

I’m a glass artist on my way to Oregon Country Fair and somewhere between traveling through Seattle I lost a box with some of my handmade glass pieces.I think I most likely left it at the Seattle Greyhound bus station, but there’s also a chance it ended up somewhere around the train station that connects nearby.

If you’re already out exploring the city, poking around corners, helping strangers, or just following your curiosity, maybe keep an eye out for a lonely box that looks like it belongs to an artist.

I’m not worried about the glass. I just really want the case back and whatever’s inside it. Every piece has a story and I’d love to keep that story going.

If you happen to find it, or hear anything, send me a message. I’d love to thank you properly, and who knows, maybe our paths were supposed to cross.

May the mushrooms guide you and may the side quests lead somewhere magical. Mush Love ✌🏾🍄🧠✨🤯🚀🌌✊🏾

WARNING Landmark in Des Moines is Compromised

Just went tonight, active camera and also an active nightwatch house on location with person confirmed inside (he was outside after I left). Some alarms went off in certain places as well.

Cop cars came after and pulled up in the main entrance area after I left as well. STAY SAFE AND ALERT

Help/Tips Legal ish places to explore around here?

I'm planning on traveling from Oregon to Seattle soon to visit my friend before he deploys. I was wanting to find cool things for us to do! We really like abandoned building kinda things, but we're hoping for some options that won't necessarily get us in trouble. What about any rooftops we can access?
