Cricket human transformation

Ive managed to level up a t1 (red) cricket to 1000 spirit points but i wanna know though. If i place it in my criket jar in the taiwu village is the chance it becomes human like 9 percent per month or something else? Are there other requirements like having the cricket chamber qi level at lvl 10? (Currently mine is only level 2). Also may i know what wishing upon a cricket option does?

Go ask your question on Discord

I was planning to put together a Google Doc explaining some of the game's mechanics, but I gave up on it. Most of the detailed info is already on the Discord, and the idea is that you go ask there yourself.

Writing the doc would've saved you the trouble of asking on Discord, but I came to the conclusion that's something you should go find out yourself.

Join here: https://discord.com/invite/thescrolloftaiwu

If you don't trust the link, just search "discord thescrolloftaiwu" on Google — it'll take you to the same place.

How Are You Supposed to Beat True Form Xiangshu?

Has anyone beaten Xiangshu's true form in the secret Bamboo ending? The fight feels completely impossible. Am I missing some hidden mechanic? How did you beat him? I had no trouble clearing the Shaolin Demon Tower and defeating all 12 Immortals, but this boss is on a completely different level.

The game is broken

It you equip 3 arts you can already beat most PE18 enemies regardless of your level and stats

If you equip 4 arts you can beat all enemies that are not resistant to one very niche thing

If you equip 6 arts you can beat any enemy in the game

Taiwu 1.0 — My DOOM Difficulty Experience

AI declaration: This post was formatted with assistance from an AI language model. All experiences, opinions, and gameplay knowledge are my own.

Taiwu 1.0 — My DOOM Difficulty Experience

Hey, I came here to share my suffering from one week of playing this game, making my character live until 30 or 35 years old, and resetting over and over because I felt like I made the wrong "build."

Mods I use: - 100% breakthrough rate (I know this breaks half the village mechanics, but whatever — it saves my time in this infinite grind fest) - Infinite durability on equipment and books

Sects I've tried: - Wudang (along with Swordsmith) - Valley of Flowers - Sanguine - Currently testing Yuanshan

The point of this post is to share my experiences with the game so far and the interesting things I've discovered.

1. Primary Attributes Are Nearly Impossible to Increase

During character creation and gameplay, I noticed that primary attributes are almost impossible to raise — yet they're the main requirement for stronger martial arts. I later discovered you can bypass these requirements by training in sects or in the village, but I spend most of my time in sects anyway.

2. Character Creation Mindset

I used to create characters with a Principled mindset, trying to make NPCs love me without sacrificing too much. But on DOOM difficulty, they always hate me regardless.

On my next character, I'm shifting focus to learning faster instead.

About Enthusiasm: It seems like this stat makes NPCs like you more (KEY WORD: seems — I have no proof this actually affects your main character. The Taiwu wiki doesn't explain it properly).

Now I'm focusing on Wit, which seems to make the character learn things faster.

3. Region Type Matters a Lot

I used to ignore this, but I learned it's very important for your character's overall health.

What I did wrong: I picked Wetland for more herbs and manually collected them. This is NOT efficient.

What I learned: If you build a farm plot in your village, NPCs auto-collect for you. It also generates resources to upgrade the plot itself, which gradually increases rarity and better drops.

Tip: When doing this, pick a higher-tier plot spot in your village.

Now I'm picking Snowy Mountains focused on metals, jade, and herbs — a perfect region for crafting.

4. Talents — Late Bloomer All the Way

I always pick Late Bloomer for everything because I don't like dying in this game. :p

Talent distribution: - Crafting at max (Weaving, Smithing, Carpentry, Jewelcrafting) — though I recently reduced them to 70 - Medical Art & Toxicology at 70 - Everything else between 20 to 65/70 - The main Talent focus should always align with your primary Sect

I'll explain why later.

Martial Art Talents: Since I like close-range combat (and suffered for it — but I plan to keep going and fix this weakness):

  • Qi Art, Unique Arts, Footwork Arts: always 90
  • Main focus: 90
  • Secondary: around 60
  • Tertiary: 10–20

Turns out this might not matter as much later (I found something else new too .-. ).

5. Primary Attributes and Equipment

I used to put 70–80 into Willpower and Comprehension. Sometimes I played with a character with 5 Willpower (painful experience).

Key discovery: Equipment effectiveness is heavily influenced by your primary attributes, scaling from 0 to 180 efficiency. This means a Tier 1 (top tier) piece of gear can be WORSE than a Tier 9 (low tier) piece if you don't meet the stat requirements for the T1 gear.

In Taiwu, T1 is the highest quality — best stats, highest requirements. T9 is basic gear with low requirements. If you can't meet the T1 requirements, it'll give you 0 efficiency and a T9 you can actually use will outperform it.

You can reduce these requirements, but only through crafting — and even then, "low requirement" equipment doesn't reduce it by much. Still better than nothing.

6. Traits

Must-have: - Innately Able → Heavenly Gifted — permanently increases primary attributes. I haven't found any other way to raise them so far.

Highly recommended: - Long Limbs → Slender-waisted and Broad-backed — because I suffered from low movement speed too many times.

Experimenting with: - Sharp Wit — seems useful for learning speed.

Not much else to say about traits since they're very build-specific.

7. Origin & Traits

Experience Traits

Great if you want your character to keep dying and scaling (makes the game easy). But I prefer my character NOT dying, so skip.

Wealth Traits

Useless. You'll get the resources anyway through gameplay. The only exception is Legacy of Prosperity, but even that isn't worth 30 extra slots for a richer village when your focus should be making your character stronger. :V

Fine Art Traits

Also death-reliant scaling, same as Experience Traits.

Vitality Nourishment

I always pick this. It gives you +6 random traits on your main character, which is incredibly good.

Ethereal Serpent

Great early game — gives 810 Dantian Qi, letting you add more Qi points from the start. Falls off late game though. The +300 toxin resistance is meh — barely anyone uses poison outside specific sects and some bosses. Poison won't kill you; your own defense will. :P

Fine Arts Breakdown

I'd love to get Heaven Canvas (+3 Utility Slots), which is extremely useful. Unfortunately you can't stack more than 10 martial arts... (probably a mod to remove that limit, but that would break the game on any difficulty).

My go-to Fine Arts: - Unsung Genius and Uncut Jade — learn books 25% faster

I could enable Abyss Mode, but laziness .-. (I've never finished the game — only killed 1 boss and restarted .-. )

Lifespan

Everyone gets Very Long. Because... yes.

OK, now we're done with character creation. On to the actual game.

8. Early Game — Tutorial Area

The tutorial area has frozen events, which is nice — you can spend months investing in your character. But the area offers nothing useful, so I rush through to the Taiwu village.

Important: There's an event where you get the monkey and the T1 items it guards. Grab those. After I discovered NPCs will hate you anyway, the monkey is the only important thing .-.

Main objective: Rush until you unlock the Waypoint so you can travel to your chosen sects. Everything else in the tutorial is secondary.

9. Combat — Kicking Arts is King

Of all martial arts, Kicking Arts is the most efficient I've found. It only requires Stamina to use — very spammable and scales well. There's a great kicking art at Sect Sanguine that I'll grab later.

Shaolin is probably good too.

Good starting sects: Any sect with Qi Art at T1 — those sects are well developed early. The rest are kinda bad as starting choices.

So why did I pick Yuanshan? Because they have a T1 Kicking Art. Why Valley of Flowers? I wanted to focus on poison, but auto-battle with poison is terrible .-.

Theory: Sects focused on defense are probably the best to finish the game with. Shaolin or Vajra. Wudang works but doesn't have good external resilience — and the whole game, most damage is External. The dangerous stuff is Internal damage and Sway, because we don't train those.

The core gameplay loop: Travel to different sects, learn their martial arts, and combine them into a strong build. The game encourages you to keep moving — don't stay in one sect forever.

10. Equipment

I don't know much about items and artifacts because the guides for this game are terrible. This post might be the only one covering the basics.

Important discovery: There's NO movement speed relic. [cried]

Armor: Comes in different types. The best armor is whatever reduces both External and Internal damage. But realistically... you'd focus on Internal defense since you're already physically (externally) covered while internally you're not .-.

Weapons: Pay attention to your weapon. Depending on your martial art, your weapon might be so useless you'd be better off using a STICK just to activate your skills. This is another reason Kicking Arts is efficient — only needs Stamina.

11. Medicine

Medicine heals your wounds. .-.

Just kidding. Medicine (and food) gives buffs during battle that last 1 month. I'm not sure if they're additive. For example: if I take 9 medicines that each increase 9% of something, theoretically I just increased that stat by 81% for one month. No idea if that works, but it's funny to think about. :p

12. Food

Food is extremely important — it speeds up the study time for martial arts and fine arts. Just don't consume more than your max capacity, because it doesn't go over .-.

13. Toxins (Poison)

You can poison your weapons. Each poison combination inflicts the enemy with that poison if activated properly. Is the poison permanent on the weapon? I think so — never noticed it decreasing over time.

If it IS temporary, that's actually good — it encourages players to craft high-grade poisons. But I still think poison is weak as a primary strat, fine as secondary .-.

14. Game Progression — Sect Support & Swindle

I never kill the first boss without preparing. I stay in the sect for at least 15 years, learning all techniques.

How to learn everything fast: If you have affinity with certain characters, they can teach you stuff outside the Sect Support system.

The Sect Support mechanic is pretty useless. It gives some advantages — visiting their shops and increasing study efficiency for martial arts — but there's a faster way.

The Swindle Method: You can Swindle Sect Leaders or Elders. Only do this if you have a good Fine Art and other relevant skills. You'll fail and enter a debate about why you need that item. The downside? None really — just return the item as a gift later and it's fine. :VVV

Works on equipment and anything in their inventory, as long as your debate skill is good enough.

I discovered this while in an Evil Sect — they stop teaching you based on your reputation, and building bad rep means doing events and fighting people with good rep. Terrible and inefficient.

To increase Sect Support: Do tournaments. Some can be dangerous — Sect Sanguine's tournament makes you kill a random guy in a cage instead of debating. On DOOM difficulty, those guys can kill you, and that's game over. :P

There are also regional events for some sects. I recommend only doing those after killing at least 3 bosses. Why? Some story event enemies reach 10 Essence which is a nightmare to damage. They still have damage reduction against lower essence characters — maybe poison and superior movement speed would work, but it's complicated.

Best event I did (on lower difficulty): Wudang's event lets you edit your martial arts (the circle) at the cost of XP. Still hard though. :p

15. Bosses

What happens when you kill the first boss? And which one should you kill? I honestly don't know — I asked AI every time and got different answers.

Every boss scales with your progress. The more bosses you kill, the stronger the remaining ones get — scaling based on your Essence or overall progression. This keeps going until... well, I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't know what happens at the end.

There's also one specific boss (I don't know which one) that has a second phase where its attributes scale over time based on battle duration. The longer the fight drags on, the stronger it gets — eventually becoming nearly unkillable. If you're going to fight it, burst it down fast.

Boss mechanics: - Every boss has two phases - If you beat their first phase, you get a strength bonus (even if you lose the second phase — but I think they still scale with this too) - Doing this with multiple bosses stacks the scaling

Protection system: The game gives you protection against bosses if you lose. But after killing 1 boss or advancing the progress bar, that protection disappears.

After killing a boss: 1. Invasion counter starts — any alive boss can randomly appear. It's not immediate. When it happens, you have 36 months until they invade your village. The boss is weaker during invasion and gives no rewards (I think). 2. Secret Tomes appear — extremely important. They permanently increase your martial arts talent. Can't grab it? Swindle the person who did. If you don't steal it for a long time, they buff the bosses. 3. Natural Disasters start appearing — drop T4/T3 materials and 1 T2 material. This is very important for crafting high-grade equipment (even if you don't meet the requirements — I just like high-grade gear). There's also a Doctor aspiration mechanic: eating a T2 herb increases your lifespan.

16. Village Management

There are buildings that generate money, prestige, and resource income... I'd need to read up more on that.

What I focused on: The Unorthodox Arts building has a Gamble House. Each one gives between 200 to 2000–4500 income. Pretty solid.

Important discovery about storage: If you keep items in the Treasury (or any storage that already has items), NPCs can use and learn from them. I had a moment where a child learned a Taiju Art (T2 or T3) — a Wudang martial art that some random NPC found and stored there.

So if you want your NPCs to learn better stuff, stock those books in shared storage. Does it consume book durability? I have no idea, but probably not.

17. Aspirations

What I've found so far:

  • Commoner — best starting aspiration. Makes initial NPC interactions better. I always start with this because it's hard to level up (requires a lot of NPC interaction).
  • Traveler — increases your map vision range. Also good, and easy to level — just travel around the map discovering things.
  • Martial Art — relatively easy to level. Just keep training any martial art at a Sect building.
  • Doctor — also relatively easy. Someone will always be injuring you, or you'll be injuring yourself with Qi Deviation. :p

The rest seem a bit harder to level :p

18. Crickets DLC

I know there's a DLC about turning crickets into girls. I... haven't focused on that yet. Too busy stealing martial arts .-.

Food and Medicine are too OP

you take 30 food resource and 1 ingred worth like 100 silver and you make t1 unique food that costs 10k+
you take like 100 herbs and an ingred worth 200 and you make pills that cost 8.4k
or you just spend a bit more but make pills that cost even more than 10k like t3 pills made from t6 ingreds cost 13.8k

you can also gift these things to merchants to easily refresh the tier limit on your purchases

and you can eat food to have infinite willpower and comperhension to learn books fast or eat pills to just become OP, because they can literally double your damage or defence or resolve or whatever apparently

you can use all of these things as powerful breakthrough profound theory cell materials

selling them for prestige is also a thing so that's infinite prestige

I just tried this and at year 14 I had 2.6 million money and 300 thousand prestige

food and drugs are also good gifts, because they're easy to produce and high in tier

medicine also makes you basically invulnerable by letting you heal yourself approximately forever

by crafting tons of medicine you increase your aspiration real fast, and not the worst one. when you 100% it, it lets you use golden needle pierces life which is very great because it lets all of your taiwu live much longer if needed. + all the normal 100% aspiration buffs.

How to check for virginity?

Weird question, I know, but I was reading the tier 4 Instrument art from the Jade Maiden Sect called "Celestial Melody" and it's text reads "When casting this Martial Art: the user's Sway gains an additional bonus from their Charm. If the enemy is male, the Martial Art's Power increases. If the male enemy is not a virgin, the Power increases even further" (The heterodox effect is the same but for females) and it made me wonder how you'd even check for an npc's virginity.

Is it just checking their relationship tabs and seeing if they have no spouse/children? And if so, does that mean that all the npcs generated just for encounters, like random outlaws and stuff are virgins? Seeing as they don't even have a relationship tab until captured.

Tier 9 is the best in game overall?

Hi! Does anyone know how much Armor Pierce actually affects damage?

I'm trying to understand why almost every weapon performs worse for me than the Tier 9 (Edgeless Sword).

I'm not talking about bad fit. I'm comparing it to a Tier 6 weapon with: the same Strength primary requirement, the same weapon techniques, and similar overall material, etc.

In the equipment screen, the Tier 6 weapon has:

higher Attack Interval (so it attack slow),

lower Physical Penetration,

lower values for both Hit Attributes,

Tier 6 - 132% Efficiency compared to 176% on the Tier 9 weapon, I thought higher tier must cover this difference with some bonus from weapon itself.

The only stat that's slightly better on the Tier 6 weapon is Armor Pierce.

I was under the impression that Tier 6 are generally considered stronger than Tier 9, so I'm confused why anything except Tier 9 suck so much. Is Armor Pierce important enough to make up for the lower Penetration, Speed and Hit, or am I missing another mechanic?

Few questions mid game

Hi guys, need some help here:
- The game said there is a menu for secret Tome owner, but I can not find it.
- I am at pure essence 8, what should I do here to get stronger? I already max martial art of my main Sect. What else other than learn smithing and upgrade gear?
- The only way to gain more Dantian Qi is to learn Qi Art? So now I just go to different sect to learn all the Qi Art, to have Dantian Qi, right?

Deep Dive into combat mechanics

Hello,

I am trying to make a deep dive into the combat mechanics. I've been running around trying to figure out the math all day yesterday and today because some how I have an art that is doing more damage despite it having every penalty against it then an art I am optimized for,

I've gotten REALLY CLOSE to finding numbers that make sense but every single calculation I've ran has always been off...

Am talking to the previous guide master mycophobia, looking over old guides to see if theres any insight from legacy mechanics... I even emailed conch ship to ask if they would give me insight into the math.

the closest I got, so far, is an equation an ai presented to me... but it's clear the AI smudged the math on the tenths after the decimal... I mean, its basically only off by 1 or 2 but its also off by 1 or 2.

so close yet not quite there.

Hoping to find out the math somehow.

anyone want to take this maddening journey with me? anyone else have any insight?
I'm even considering trying to dns sniff and decompile.
