Can anyone identify this Cuban timba song? Female singer – YouTube mix

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to identify this Cuban timba song from a YouTube mix.

It starts around 22:50 in this video: https://youtu.be/8ETQYXQCgxM

I think I can hear:

"Repítelo otra vez"

"Vamos a partir el émbolo"

something that sounds like "El tren de la timba"

Female lead singer, very energetic timba.

I've searched everywhere but couldn't find it. I've attached a one-minute clip.

Does anyone know the artist or the song title?

Thank you!

Ibiza Salsa LA / Salsa Cuban / Kizomba / Bachata - 8 days in October 2026

Hi guys,

I just signed up for a 8 day dance trip to Ibiza (salsa, bachata, kizomba) from 3-10 October 2026 and I was wondering if anyone else is going? You don't need a dance partner (I don't either), just checking to see if people are willing to join: https://www.dance4two.nl/core.sym/fe/aanbod/pakketgroep.php?pakketgroep_id=31

The organisation is Dutch, but website is also available in English and I guess it's more of an international group.

Most salsa dancers know the word "clave"... but very few actually know how to hear it.

Most salsa dancers know the word "clave"... but very few actually know how to hear it.

I've noticed that this is one of the biggest missing pieces when dancers are trying to improve their musicality. We memorize timing and patterns, but we never really learn the rhythmic foundation that holds salsa music together.

So I'm hosting a FREE live online workshop where I'll break down the clave specifically for dancers.

We'll cover:

  • How to actually hear the clave in real salsa songs
  • Why it's much more than just two sticks or a rhythm pattern
  • How it influences timing, musicality, and partner connection
  • Simple listening exercises you can start using immediately

There will also be a live Q&A, free resources for everyone who attends, and a special workshop-only offer.

If you've been wanting to understand salsa music on a deeper level—not just count through it—I think you'll get a lot out of this.

Hope to see some of you there! 🎶

Do you discover places because you dance, or dance because you discover places?

My partner and I were walking through Rovinj when this spot caught our attention. Before we knew it, we had music playing and were dancing under the Croatian sun.

Curious if other social dancers have the same instinct—or if it's just us. What's the most beautiful place you've ever spontaneously danced? 🌞💃🕺

Do You Still Count 1-2-3, 5-6-7 Through Most Of Your Salsa Dances? (Free Workshop)

Post image

One of the biggest myths in salsa is that becoming a better dancer means getting better at counting.

But if you’ve ever:

  • Lost the timing when the music changed
  • Gotten confused during breaks or pauses
  • Felt fine in class but struggled on the social floor
  • Found yourself constantly searching for the “1”

…then more counting usually isn’t the solution.

The dancers with the strongest timing aren’t counting every beat.

They’re listening.

This Sunday I’m hosting a free online workshop called Stop Counting Salsa, where I’ll be teaching some of the musicality tools I use to help dancers:

✅ Feel the pulse more naturally
✅ Find the timing without relying on counts
✅ Understand what’s happening in the music
✅ Recover when they get lost
✅ Develop stronger salsa musicality overall

📅 Sunday, June 7
🕔 5:00 PM Mountain Time
💻 Live on Zoom

We’ll also have a live Q&A afterward, and everyone who attends live will receive a special bonus gift.

We’ve already got dancers joining from multiple countries around the world, and I’d love to have some fellow Reddit salsa nerds there too.

Comment MUSICALITY below or send me a DM and I’ll send you the registration link.

What part of salsa timing do you struggle with most? Finding the 1? Staying on time? Musical interpretation? I’d love to hear it.

Why do so many salsa dancers struggle with timing even after taking classes?

I teach salsa musicality and one thing I keep noticing is that many dancers don’t actually struggle with steps

They struggle with the music.

People tell me things like:

  • “I lose the 1 when social dancing”
  • “On2 feels impossible”
  • “I can do patterns but don’t understand the music”
  • “I hear people talking about clave but I don’t really get it”
  • “Everything falls apart when the song changes”

What’s interesting is that most classes spend a lot of time on patterns, but not much time on:

  • musical structure
  • instrumental layers
  • clave
  • tumbaos
  • historical timing development
  • body mechanics
  • how timing feels inside movement

I’m putting together a free Salsa Musicality Workshop because I keep seeing this problem come up.

We’ll be covering:

🎵 Timing foundations
🥁 Clave
🔥 On1 vs On2
🌍 Historical roots of salsa timing
🕺 Movement mechanics
🎶 Musicality training

If this is something you’ve struggled with, I’d genuinely love to hear:

What has been the hardest part of salsa musicality for you?

(If anyone wants the workshop link I’m happy to share it here.)

Be honest: would this actually work at a crowded social?

Hey everyone 👋

I’d love to get some feedback from the community on a salsa partnerwork sequence my partner and I have been working on.

My question is: Do you feel this kind of partnerwork is still comfortable and realistic for social dancing, or does it cross more into performance/show territory?

We tried to keep the connection smooth and lead/follow focused rather than just stacking flashy patterns, but I’m curious how it feels from an outside perspective — especially from people who social dance regularly.

Here’s the clip: Instagram video

Would love honest opinions from both leads and follows 🙏
