Recycle pick up

Upvotes

We moved here about 6 months ago and never had barrels like this I got home from work and my recycle bin hadn’t been emptied and had a rejected sticker for a trash bag with recycling in it. The bin is absolutely full do I have to wait two weeks for it to be picked up? If that’s the case it’s probably just going to end up in the trash. Which I rather not do but will if need be.

Side note why are recycles only picked up every 2 weeks?

Salem paid $60,000 for Flock Cameras

Is this true?

We actually paid for our unconstitutional mass surveillance camera network?

I assumed that Flock installed the cameras for free and charged for access. I assumed that was the grey area we operated in that would need to be challenged in court to end.

Nope.

Salem actually paid for this. I believe this crosses the line into unwarranted searches and violation of our 4th amendment rights.

Time to DeFlock.

Sports Casual soccer (pick up/drop in) for adults near Salem? ⚽

Trying to find super casual soccer to join in on within a reasonable distance. Adult friendly and either men's or coed, doesn't matter! I'm struggling to find anything that's not a trek into Boston or past it.

I don't have a group and a league is a bit intense to start out. Played a lot as a kid, but that was over 10 years ago 😅

Thanks!

Edit: Oh and while I'm here, are there any parks/fields nearby that have goals out for the public?

Orange and White Cat

Tonight I saw a small orange and white cat limping around Linden St between Ocean and Forest Ave. It appeared to have no collar, and seemed uninterested. I tried to get close but it went into someone's yard.

I posted on one other Facebook page, but I don't know what to do, but I am so worried for the poor kitty.

Advice for Locals Almost hit by a car exiting the parking lot off of Essex behind Wicked Good Books

I’m fine, I’ll start there. Car was exiting the parking lot pretty fast though and kind of zoomed away.

I think there should be one of two things done here.

Either put in a warning light for pedestrians that a car is about to exit OR just close off this exit completely and force cars to exit on Seawall over by the YMCA where there is way more visibility to oncoming traffic

IT/Software Dev/General Tech meetups?

Hello!

I'm interested in finding some technically-inclined groups in and around Salem to meet new people and network. Does anyone know of any groups for those in IT/software development that I could participate in? Something like a weekly meet-up/social hour?

Thanks in advance!

What's there to do around here for early risers?

It's 7AM now, but I've been up since 5. Can't watch TV or turn on lights because it'll wake up my girlfriend. Staying at a hotel right be Essex st. What is there to do in the mornings? I'd hoped for Gulu Gulu but I guess they don't open til 8?

If this breaks the rules, sorry.
