NURSA Program is absolutely ridiculous

I've got to vent for a minute. First semester Nursing Student here, and part of the stupid NURSA program for clinicals. They deleted all my shifts and shift requests while I'm waiting for my compliance to update, and they don't even have the good sense to go in and update the compliance stuff as quickly as possible. It's absolutely frustrating. This new NURSA program has been one big shitshow from the beginning. How am I supposed to plan for anything when they keep throwing new stuff into the program? And secondly, why is it OUR problem? Anyways. Needed to vent.

Free private room in Riverton for a student — in exchange for ~10 hrs/week of help around the house

Hey — I've got a spare room at my place in Riverton and I'd rather trade it for a little help than rent it out.

The deal: your own private room, all utilities included (about $800/month of value), no rent. In exchange, roughly 10 hours a week keeping the house running:

Meal prep a couple times a week (simple, healthy — I buy all the groceries)

One weekly grocery run from my list, on my dime

A little laundry and tidy-up of the common areas

A few things to know:

Brand-new house, calm and clean. You'd share a bathroom with one other tenant (a nurse). I also have my daughter here part-time (~10 days a month).

Month-to-month, no long lock-in — we both just make sure it's a good fit.

Given the setup (shared bath with a female tenant + my kid here), I'm looking for a female roommate.

Ideal for a student, nurse, or anyone reliable and clean happy to trade a bit of housework for free rent.

If that sounds like a fit, DM me or comment and tell me a little about yourself and when you'd be looking to move. Thanks!

Math Placement Test

I took Math 1010 as concurrent enrollment in high school. I don’t currently need to take any math classes and Math 1010 competes my gen ed math requirement. Do I still need to take the Math Placement test if I don’t need to register for one? I am just a little confused about some of the wording on the SLCC website about the placement tests.

switching majors & catalog year?

hello! I am a biology major who is planning on switching to an english major. I have only done my generals as of now so all of my credits so far (12) will transfer to my new devised english major plan. I have found the classes I need to take & I have registered for them but I have yet to officially change my major online. When I’m asked the catalog year after choosing which major I would like to switch to, I’m confused as to which to choose. I originally registered for fall semester of 2025 but didn’t start college until spring semester 2026 if that is relevant (it asks me if the catalog year is 2025-2026 or 2026-2027) I have tried reaching out to my guidance counselor since last month but she’s booked & when I try to ask for guidance on this I am just told they are too busy & direct me elsewhere. I totally understand them being booked and busy! but i would really like to get an answer on this so i can go about changing my major before fall semester begins. thank you all in advance!

tl;dr: when changing my major, which catalog year do i pick out on the form?

please share your thoughts &/or experiences with this. & i apologize for my lack of proper punctuation & overall grammar! i am currently very sleepy

Anatomy with Jill Goodman

Has anyone taken anatomy with Jill? I am registering kind of late, and while I wish I could do Farr's or any other teacher who is currently full and get on a waitlist, I have work where they scheduled us 8 weeks in advance, and Jill's class meets hybrid and has heard some good things about her, but nothing solid. It's either here or Nancy twice a week :/

Has anyone taken the CNA course at SLCC?

Was going to get my CNA to bump my nursing application, and was planning to do it through a private training center, but just learned that SLCC offers a CNA training course. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Course Question Anatomy and Chem professor suggestions

Hello all
I am looking for some recs for anatomy class/lab and chem class/lab teachers for this upcoming fall. It seems like the online chem classes are good, but I'm struggling to either waitlist for an anatomy lecture with Melaner Farr or take the available seat with Rebecca Walters. For the lab, it seems like Andy is a great choice, but looking for other good ones in case not available. Have not read much on chem teachers, so idk about those.

Edit: seems like Melanie doesn’t let you waitlist on the system and same goes for Kenny :( Anu tips for getting into at least Kenny’s lab?
Thank you <3

Missing Frog Plush

Hello, I’m a student at the Redwood Campus, and on July 8 I lost a very important plushy that I brought with me to school. I normally wouldn’t make a post like this, but it has not turned up anywhere, and it means a lot to me. If anyone has seen it or picked it up, please return it directly to me or to the Lost and Found in the Student Life Center. Thank you

Microbio

Hi all,

Looking for studying tips for Microbio 2060. I am taking it with Jacob Broderwick. I'm finding the class somewhat difficult. The assignments are easy, but the tests are hard. On my first exam I got around a 70% which was the average, and second was 52% which was a little below average. any study tips from this class will be much appreciated since im getting my hopes down.

I'm currently enrolled in Human Anatomy Lab Section 107, which meets Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. I'm hoping to switch into any Wednesday lab section if anyone is willing to swap.
If you're enrolled in a Wednesday lab and would be interested in switching to my Thursday section, please send me a message! I'd really appreciate it!

ASN RN Program Rejection

Heyall, did anyone else not get into the Fall 2026 cohort?

I know they don't publish numbers but my advisor mentioned that the pool was very big for fall and I'm seeing there are only 90 spots for the first year classes available. I have A's in all my prereqs but I no longer work in a healthcare role anymore, so I think I got passed over because of that.

Did anyone get accepted and have any tips for applying for Spring 27?

Dropped Karren in favor for Barrickman and Stephens Advice

Hey,

Just dropped Karren because it appears he is potentially a tough grader. Was curious about these:

Nancy Barrickman

and

Amber Stepehens,

in regards to overall grading strategy. Can you be as dumb as an OX and still get by with an A in their course? If can refrain from words describing their personality such as "nice," or "amazing," which really doesn't tell me anything about how their overall grading is.

Lpn nursing

I’m starting the LPN program and was hoping some current or former students could share what the first semester was like. What did your weekly schedule look like? How many days per week were you on campus, and how many hours were you typically in class or lab? I’m trying to plan my work schedule ahead of time and get an idea of how much time the program requires outside of class as well. Thanks!

Tips/Advice Anatomy Lecture with Ken Anderson

Does anyone have Ken Anderson for lecture, and if so, how are you studying? I have been taking the practice quizzes and I just feel like the questions being asked are sometimes vague or don't quite make sense. I did not score as high as I had hoped on the first exam and I am pretty stressed about this weeks

General Question Paralegal Program

Has anyone done the paralegal program? I’m starting in the fall. I have been working as a paralegal for 3 years, so I’m wondering if it is intensive and what the professors and class schedule is like.
