Broke the goal
Original goal was 20k with 35lb dry weight. I ended up pushing 22.1k across LBL (Land Between the Lakes) National Park.
It feels great but damn I'm sore.

When I began, I thought motivation would carry me through. That wasn't enough. What really helped was making rucking part of my normal routine instead of treating it like a big workout. It slowly became something I looked forward to instead of something I had to force myself to do.
What made rucking become part of your routine?

So I’ve upped the weight and decided to push the pace up a bit. I’m struggling to keep in zone 2 for the duration of the ruck. I’m guessing I need to either push harder or up the weight more. Any suggestions are helpful.

PSA: Questions about rucks come up a lot. Goruck and WildGym both have sales going on.
Goruck's is until the end of the month, and WildGym is until they run out of inventory.
If you have been thinking about a new rucksack, this might be a good time to get a new one.

I'm trying to start a ruck march group on the MeetUp app. I've looked at Team RWB and a few other organizations but haven't seen anything around my area. So if you wanna get in shape or stay in shape, this could be a low-barrier-to-entry option. Strap a little weight to your back, or wear a weighted vest or no weight at all, and let's go for a walk of about 3-4 miles per hour. I will be bringing a small scale if anyone wants to confirm their bag/vest weight. The distances available are 2miles, 5 miles, or 7 miles. I'll be doing 7 miles, and everyone can join for as much as they want. The MeetUp link has the details about the route.
This is open to anyone and everyone, and it's free. My first attempt to do this as a group will be this Friday at 530 PM, and will probably be each Friday going forward, but I'm open to coordinating a different day if it's better for other people's schedules
I'm thinking about participating in Flyver, Nijmegen, Marsjmerket (Norwegian Foot March), Bataan Death March, or one of the other military awards that foreign militaries sponsor.

I bought both bags and I'm going to return one. I have the 20 liter version of the rucker 5.0.
I'm just wondering what the long-term reviews are with both (I know the rucker 5.0 is newer, but even a previous Rucker model is fine to answer for). I think both are pretty close in comfort, but I found the 5.11 sits almost at my mid back, and the rucker is just a little higher on me. And on the Rucker, the lumbar pad sits almost mode back for me....is it too short for me? I'm 5'11".
I'm also curious about adding 25+ lbs of weight in the 5.11 over a long term use, and if it's just worth it to go straight to the rucker and just keep that. The 5.11 is also $100 cheaper.
This community has been great and I appreciate you helping me start this journey!

Whats everyone's latest update on their rucking journeys?
Ive been doing daily 5k at 53-54min timing with 10lb weight and today decided to increase.
I bought plates that were supposed to total 15lbs but when I received them, they were 15lbs each.
Adding in my carrier, cummerbund amd dangler pouch to hold my phone, it brought me to a grand total of 32.2lbs
Said screw it give it a shot and wow, 20lbs changes EVERYTHING. I was trying to get in what i could before the storm came in and only managed to do 1.75mi in 31min and to be honest, im wiped.
Loving the fit of these multicurved plates so im just gonna keep pushing them with them

Brain says. Hey it’s 102f outside. Let’s go for a 3 mile 65lb ruck. 🙄😆
Isn’t speedy, but dang it’s warm out. Texas life.

Hey Gang! Sorry if some of these questions are common/frequent. I have searched old posts and didn't really see any these specific questions addressed.
So basically I am brand new to rucking. Like a lot of people I just wrapped a 20lb dumbbell in a hand towel and threw it in my Osprey hiking/hydration pack. I have walked 1-2 miles 2 times now and honestly, I swear my posture is already improved.
Here's the thing: I don't really plan on doing this for long distances. I walk my big dog 1-2 miles daily. I could probably bump this up to 3 miles and he would love it. I do some lite hiking (2-4 miles, up to 1000 foot elevation) around my city fairly often, and wouldn't mind doing that with a ruck pack on too.
I am a fairly large guy 6'3", 225lbs, moderately muscular but very long in the arms and legs.
So my questions are basically: Does anyone make a pack that is easy to upgrade in weight? No need to anything too advanced as I don't plan to do other workouts in it. How often should I increase the weight? I am all about starting low and going slow, but don't see myself staying at 20lbs forever. Would it be unsafe to go up more than 10 lbs at a time? Is there anyone else just rucking for 2 miles at a time with a higher load (50+lbs) and seeing good results?
Again I know there are a lot of posts about how to get started but this is more specifically geared about being a large guy, going a short distance, and having room to grow without having to buy multiple packs.
Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance!!

Been using 5.11 backpack (largest one 60L I think). I usually ruck with 55 up to 75 lbs and been experiencing issues with the shoulder straps digging in and the chest strap has broken twice now.
I dont like the Go Ruck look and i like to use an actual rucksack for it's intended purpose for outdoorsy stuff.
Any recommendations for a good high quality ruck that doesn't look like it issued army stuff.

Asking 150 but open to offers.
Used this Rucker 3.0 for a year or so and then fell out of practice and laid it on a shelf. No weight plate included in sale. Definitely light use low miles. Never got it wet or dirty, just rucking through my neighborhood usually pushing a stroller. I've got a water bottle pouch on there that's included. If i find my phone/gear pouch I'll include it too.
Purchased this from Rogue.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm taking the leap and diving into rucking. I recently moved to an area with beautiful outdoor soaces and this bag is about to be a mobile gym.
I plan to grab to Goruck Rucker 5.0 while it's on sale and am torn between the sand bags or plates.
Sand bags seem versatile, but if they are more of a headache than that's worth I'm fine with plates.
I'm a backpacker (both travel and hiking) so Im not super new to walking with weight, but I don't want to lug out my nice 50+L travel/hiking bags nor do I think my my poor Osprey daylight will hold up with getting tossed around 20+lb plates day in and out. Open to alternative suggestions on set up or accessories, I can drop around $300 into this.

I recently damaged the meniscus in my right knee, unrelated to rucking - which I do regularly and love it. I’m seeing a physiotherapist later this week but was wondering if anyone here had experience dealing with a damaged meniscus and how it impacted your rucking? I know I’ll have to go light for a while and build up my heavier rucks gradually again … I’m hoping the physiotherapist doesn’t advise that I stop rucking altogether.
I use Apple Watch/Apple health. Are there any really good rucking apps to compliment? I’m looking for record keeping, not coaching or routines.

I just started rucking, about a week ago, I usually do 4 mile rucks at around a 16:30 minute pace but today I decided to test what 8 miles feels like (35 lb dry weight at 140 lbs and 18 yrs old)

Rucking up and down steep hills with 20lb weight in my back pack today.
Done over 600ft elevation altogether.
Felt like I'd been sprinting when I got to the top but I felt great.

Hey. I want to get into rucking, I have a body weight vest (cheap one) and can only go up to 22.5LBS. Is the “GoRuck” pack the best for rucking purposes? It seems to be the main one that pops up when I do limited research, figured I would just ask the pros.

Hi,
I would love to know of a pack or vest other women have found most comfortable. I plan to start low and add weight over time so I don't want to buy a fixed weight item. I am guessing I will range between 12 pounds to 30 pounds as I progress. I know all our bodies are different but I am medium build, small figured and have a slightly high waist. I am 5'6.5"
Thanks so much!!

It's time to buy new Army boots and since it's been a while since I've been a ground pounder my last couple of boots have been more for comfort than rucking.
I've started training for the Norwegian Foot March so I'm looking for suggestions.
Thanks

I want to get more into it, but my neck gets sooo tight. Can lead to a headache or occasionally feeling sick for hours.
What am I doing wrong?

My friend and I are looking to do a competition at the beginning of next year. It’s called “the mammoth sniper challenge” basically it’s a shooting competition that over the course of three days you shoot rifle and pistol AND also ruck for 12 ish miles a day. The shooting aspect isn’t a problem for me but the fact I haven’t run or done anything this physical in quite some time I need to seriously train for this. The pack will be about 40lbs. I’m 5’6” and 160. The challenge requires a 4mph average pace for 12 miles a day. I don’t think it’s 12 miles a day straight more broken up into 3-5 miles 3times a day. Thank you for any input you would have for how I should train I have about 6 months.
