So i think I’ll just pose them as a girl punk band like blondie or something? (i dunno I’m scared) Cause thats the best way i can get him to say yes and take me. (Also he wants me to start a band so I’ll use that too) Since anytime i try to go against his opinion he says the schools are indoctrinating me to be woke (even though that’s literally not true at all, i think this way out of my own free will as a girl) soooo i just pray they don’t say anything too left cuz i don’t want my dad to make us leave early… he already likes going to concerts together as like a “daddy daughter date” soo ugh that helps me a bit. Recently I stumbled upon an all-female rock trio of sisters from Mexico called The Warning, and they completely caught me off guard. Their sound is so strong that I quickly stopped thinking of them as a female band and just heard, a great rock band. (Nothing against the traditional female-fronted rock band model it just wasn’t the comparison that came to mind.)

They blend pop sensibilities (they even have the look of modern pop artists) with hard rock, metal, and punk in a way that’s incredibly accessible without feeling manufactured.
Watching them live made an even bigger impression, their energy, talent, musicianship, and stage presence are exceptional.

That discovery led me to another all-female band, Die Spitz. Completely different style, but equally compelling: raw, aggressive, controlled chaos with an unapologetic attitude.
From there I started digging deeper and realized that, over the past several years, more women than ever seem to be entering the rock and metal scene not just as singers, but as guitarists, bassists, drummers, and complete bands.

Another good one is Last Dinner Party, they have great musical chemistry, lush and theatrical sound, the list goes on and on.

All this got me wondering:

What’s historically prevented an all-female rock band from achieving the same level of global, long-term, household-name success as bands like Foo Fighters, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?

And with bands like The Warning along with many other talented all-female bands emerging today, are we getting closer to seeing one truly break through into that level of mainstream, cross-generational success?

More broadly, could this wave of all-female rock bands be one of the ingredients that helps bring rock back a little closer to the collective consciousness? Not the ingredient, I’m aware rock’s future depends on many factors but perhaps an important one.

In June we took a break from gigging as our bassist was getting bottom surgery! They have now had their surgery and we have our first gig back in September! We absolutely cannot WAIT to get back on the stage!

Is it opposite of expensive ivory-tower feminism? Easy sloganeering without really diving into theory? It's not that teenage riot grrrls aren't capable of complex feminisms, but what a way to deny the zinesters' subjectivity! By fellow girls no less!

To the comment I received in my notifications that I can't reply to except here: It's a famous documentary, not from the "trenches of YouTube". I welcome feminist consciousness at any price point ("cheap" or "expensive", whatever). I just don't understand why she'd undermine the zinester, as if there was a better way to be feminist? It was an earnest question of mine, a direct quote to unpack the dismissive phrase, not an attempt to mock the mockers (this is getting way too meta!). I don't understand why my post is being misconstrued as anti-women!

On second thought, maybe my linking to that moment in the documentary dislodged the scene from the wider context & made it seem like I was endorsing belligerent girl-hate? Which I'm not, I was just contemplating the weird phrase & wanted to open a discussion about what gets taken seriously as feminism (academic theory?) versus young girls' feminist articulations, which are not necessarily mutually exclusive! But nevermind, these hostile interpretations of my post makes make it apparent I'm not welcome to do that here!

Our guitarist Pau wrote this track as a loud, chaotic, and unfiltered anthem about fluid sexuality, rejecting rigid societal expectations, and just living authentically. It’s the first single from our new 6-track EP Manifestin' coming out at the end of the summer, and it’s easily the heaviest, fiercest thing we’ve done yet.
