Seems to be a bit of a debate in the office about using piping system type - graphic overrides to show e.g. Sanitary drain pipes as a certain colour throughout verses using filters to achieve the same result.
All of the consultant models we receive use filters always. I assume this is due to the flexibility of filters. But others in the office are adamant you must use the affore mentioned system type override.
I'm of the opinion we continue with the same filters method. It works and is more flexible. Is there something I'm missing?

I am an Architect in India and we still have to export 2D CAD drawings from Revit to make final GFCs.
I am quite frustrated by the lack of fine tuning I get while exporting .dwg files. I need the Core of the RCC Floors and walls to b thicker say a 0.35mm line thickness, walls to be 0.25mm, its finishes and most of the other things at 0.05 if not being cut in section or plan.
I have tried object styles, overrides, DWG export settings, but it always ends up looking like an absolute mess while printing, random lines getting Thick and Thin. And the worst of it all, joined objects loosing their thickness settings. If my team makes a similar CAD drawing, it looks much better, and many a times we have to redo in 2d or use up the entire day for cleaning the file up
How do you guys do it? How do I get a good for 1:100 scale and 1:200 scale print out of Revit or its exported DWGs? Are their some external Plugins to be used? Can I get some example files to copy the settings. Would be a big help.

Im earlier versions I would design one floor, turn it into a group, convert it to a link and use that link to copy up identical floors. Just doing my first project in 2026 and the button is gone. Anyone know where it went?

We work fabricating sheet metal components in commercial kitchens. We design and build counter tops, refrigerators, flashing, etc. Right now we only use AutoCAD but I have always disliked the line by line method of AutoCAD and find it to be incredibly inefficient and it leaves projects more prone to user error, like changing a dimension in one view and forgetting to change it in another. Sometimes it will take us longer to draw something in AutoCAD then it does to lay it out in the shop!
A few years ago I worked in a Civil Engineering firm that used Revit and I loved it, but those projects were on a much larger scale.
I also tried Inventor, but didn’t like it. Maybe I should give Inventor another chance?
Does anyone work in a similar industry and have a software they love to use?

I modeled a family of a wardrobe in revit with all the possible details on it. When i passed the section on it after i integrated it to the project it only shows me the facade of the wardrobe. How can I get to see these details? It's kind of urgent. Thanks !
Issues I am having and would greatly appreciate any advice.
Usually the slope % doesn't change much (maybe from 1% to 0.85%) but sometimes it does change enough that it bothers me.
Do people pin the pipes as they are modelling them? Because that doesnt work well as you are adding new branches to a stack or main branch. OR do people tend to model the pipe where they want it with the slope they want and then draw a reference plane or align and lock to?
Right now I have a vent branch connecting to a vent stack but when the sanitary tee fitting is modelled its connected in the orientation that you would use for sanitary and not venting. i.e. it slopes down and not up.
When I hit the flip fitting button the branch connection point is now lower and it causes the nominally horizontal vent pipe to break.
If I then delete the broken vent pipe and then just try to connect a vent pipe to the fitting the fitting will be in the correct orientation but as soon as I change the slope downwards the sanitary tee flips.
If need be I can screen grab some images and put them on imgur

Hi guys first time poster here.
Is there a way to remove the “-“ from spot level annotations?
I’m trying to make the cut/fill annotations dynamic instead of static texts.
How out company want to do this is simply say “FILL 74mm” or “CUT 200mm”.
I am trying to create an Area Schedule with a calculated parameter that only returns a Percent of the Whole Area when a Yes/No parameter is checked.
So I've got my standard [Area] Parameter as SF, a [Yes/No] Parameter assigned to my Areas, a Calculated Value for the Schedule as a Percentage of [Area] / <Grand Total>, and I'm trying to combine these together into something along the lines of:
=IF ([Area - UAP Affordable]), [percent of total], )
See screenshot here for context.
However whether using a percent such as "0%" or value such as "0 SF" or text such as "NA" for my boolean <result-if-false>, I keep getting the error "Inconsistent Units." My assumption based on other help articles I've read is because I've got a Calculated Value returning a percentage which has no associated Unit, despite it being a calculation of Area.
The purpose of this is I am trying to use the schedule to show that our Area Unit Matrix meets the various code requirements for affordable housing (in that they have to be equally spread throughout the building and 50% of affordable units have to be 2BED and 75% have to be 1BED.
Any help on how to achieve this with automation via schedules and not having to hand count it?
I have been tasked with creating our product range on Revit, and its an uphill battle and I have had some courses quoted this week to speed me up but I have spent some time watching the Autodesk lessons and I have made one of the many product ranges on the system but I am stumped on one aspect before it is complete. I have a footrest which I made as a separate component/ family and imported it in so I can turn the visibility on and off, yet when I link this to the properties variable (Yes/No) it stays in both.
I have also had a look at the GD (Graphics override properties) and there is nothing in there (I saw a forum post about door handles which seemed kind alike my issue). But in no way does it make sense. I am sure its a very stupid solution so feel free to chastise me a little!

Hello r/Revit!
I am a BIM Manager for a MEP firm, and I am having trouble with a project. We are doing the design for an apartment building. The architect has set up the individual units as Model Groups. I have the architectural models linked into our MEP model, and I can see pieces of these model groups. However, I am not able to see the doors & door swings unless I turn on 'Reveal Hidden Elements'. Additionally, when they are visible after turning on 'Reveal Hidden Elements' the doors do not have the usual green lines of something that had been manually hidden.
Things I have already checked:
Any thoughts? I am guessing that this has something to do with the architect including them in model groups, but thats just a guess. And other elements from those model groups are visible (the walls and furniture and kitchen and plumbing fixtures are all part of the same model group), so I am quite confused.
Here are a couple screenshots, please let me know if you need any other info.
Thank you!!
EDIT: Resolved! The doors were nested in something else and their visibility was being controlled by the 'Detail Items' visibility. Thank you!!

I'm messing with filters and not sure if this is possible. Wall assmebly: CMU block, brick veneer. Is there a way to hide cut pattern of ONLY the CMU block layer in certain View Filters? The cut pattern gets distracting in certain views and I'd like to apply this to only Particular View Templates?

Super thick line weight on cut walls + floors in sections and elevations when I export? No view templates, tried toggling between thick and thin lines and exporting, I can send screenshots to anyone who can help
Please help surely this has to be such a blaringly obvious and simple fix I'm too much of a fool to figure out!

For example Autodesk's railing and stair sample file I would call a farm. I've known them as this for about 15 years and now I'm wondering where the term originated, because I can't find it anywhere when I Google it.
And yes farms are probably obsolete now with content catalog.
So I'm working on my first major Revit based project.
currently I date each major change with a Save-As with new date. Revit also makes multiple backup saves...
I have 125 project files for ONE project (15GB) - Should I keep just the milestone of dated file of each project (ie, none of the Revit backups, they're pretty irrelevant now I guess)...
Should I purge all the old files of unused families? Are there other ways to minimize their size?
I've never worked with files this large for projects, so my typical best practices of saving EVERYTHING are no longer working LOL.

Hey yall,
Never had this happen to me but im trying to bring in cloud data from recap . I import and in revit it's invisible. I can click on screen and it does pick out the model but no visuals are visible ?

Hey everyone, are there any good videos/channels or websites where I can learn rhino.inside.revit? My company wants to look into implementing this plugin into our workflow so I’d like to learn as much as possible before proposing anything. Thanks!

We're replacing our server, and given the price of RAM & Storage these days, I don't want to buy more than I need (but also don't want to underbuy just to save a few bucks).
As I understand it, all model processing (including fly though rendering - we use Enscape) happens on the local workstation, and the fileserver that stores all of the data only needs to have fast storage and network. However, I don't use the software at all, so would like to gather recommendations from others before we spec and replace our server. We've currently got 40 workstations, and our server currently has a 20GbE connection to our network switch.
Some random thoughts:
What do you think, anything I'm missing?

Guys I need help.
I want to delete a Hub on Autodesk Forma and I can't get a support contact.
My main problem is, that I chose the wrong server.
Any ideas ?

I need to define materials, and the manufacturer hasn't defined the material in a way that it shows up on the schedule (I have tried all the fields)
Some of the fields I can edit manually (yellow), but others I can't change at all (blue)
Also noticed that there are a pair of the same headered fields (purple)
Not sure how to make this work, my schedule needs to have materials... U factors, etc...

I have about 30 families (eventually more) that I am modifying in a blank Revit model that I would like to save. If I were to open/edit the family, the parameters I filled out do not show up. Is there a way to export and save the family with all the parameters given? Do I have to modify/edit every family individually?

Firstly, apologies for probably using the wrong terminology for things, I'm new to Revit, learning how to use it for electrical design.
I have created a family model of an electrical distribution board.
Is it possible to choose swap what state it is in?
What I want to see:
Distribution board with doors closed
Distribution board with doors open
Distribution board without cover.

We just end up with a mess of emails with partial replies and multiple changes from the structural engineers buried somewhere deep back in an email thread.
What works for you guys? Trello? Just Bluebeam Studio?
Wishing we had a well-agreed on system like developers have with Github - pull requests etc.
