Best place to buy short ribs at a fair price?

I'm cooking short ribs for 18 people. I'm thinking I need about 15 lbs of short ribs. Who has the best short ribs at a reasonable price anywhere from San Mateo to Palo Alto?

Does anyone know that Cholo with a lifted White Truck in around South Fair Oak

Every weekend, he drives around the neighborhood, sometimes leaves his truck in the middle of the road and just let it play while he runs back to his house. Is he special need kid or dropped on his head when he was a child?

Anyone looking to adopt in Redwood City? I have been fostering these guys for the past few weeks after they were found abandoned in a mobile home park. Though timid, they are very sweet and cuddly once you give them lots of petting. They love to play and are not aggressive towards people at all. They need a loving home with patient & caring people. They are a bonded pair so we hope for them to be adopted together. Located in Morgan Hill/Gilroy. Please comment here or send me a message if you are interested, or share this post with anyone you know who would consider adopting!

Onsite taco bar - 25 ppl

We are having a birthday party for about 25 adults and having a tough time finding an onsite taco bar / catering for this size. We are hoping for onsite cooking but we’d be ok with set up, serving (buffet style) and some clean up. Any recommendations?

Expecting first baby, looking for mom friends or groups

Hey there!! A couple of months ago my partner and I found out we are expecting our first baby at the start of the new year. We are still fairly new to Redwood City but also to the parenting scene. I was hoping to see if there are any new mom / new parent groups or activities available in Redwood City. Or if anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to make new parent friends? 🤗 Thank you so much for your help! I seriously have no idea where to start lol.

What is your favorite Chinese takeout?

I was a New Flower Drum fan.. and then they closed. Then I found Redwood Bistro and I just found out they closed (so sad it was really good). So what’s the best Chinese takeout now? We just ordered Fey which I think is in Menlo Park and I was not impressed. Please help me find a new yummy takeout spot! Thanks!

Loud Explosions last night

Last night (evening of Thurs July 15, morning of July 16) did anyone hear two loud explosions around 2am? They were so loud that our ears are still hurting an entire day later. What the hell was that noise? Sounded like military explosions

any older b-ballers?

Hey people, wondering if there are any older basketball runs in RWC? Red Morton or other? I know there is a group who runs at the new senior center, but they seem to be a bit older.. I'm in lower 60's but still move pretty good. Anything 50+?

Paid Study on Psychological Effects of GLP-1

Post image
5 Upvotes

Are you planning to or already taking GLP-1 medication? Do you live in the Bay Area? If so, you may qualify for our paid fMRI study on psychological effects of GLP-1.

If you are interested in participating please fill out this short 2 minute form: https://stanforduniversity.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7a3RRoy7lcUyQxo

You will perform several tasks (~45minutes) in the MRI scanner, followed by a series of surveys.

The tasks will involve viewing pictures (e.g., food, alcohol, drugs, everyday supplies), rating them, and choosing between financial options.

The questionnaires will ask about your behavioral, emotional, and financial tendencies.

As a thank you for your time and effort, you will be paid $100 for your two sessions as baseline, and an extra amount based on your task performance ($10-30).

Participation in this study is in person at the Center for Cognitive and Neurobiological Imaging (CNI) located in the Stanford Department of Psychology (Building 420).

We will ask you to come for a 2nd session between 30-60 days after your 1st session. Upon completion of the 2nd session, you will receive a bonus of $25.

Here is the screening form again if you are interested in participating: https://stanforduniversity.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7a3RRoy7lcUyQxo

Yielding in RWC

Is it just me, or does no one understand how to yield in RWC? So far this is the only Bay Area city I’ve consistently encountered this (bad drivers everywhere, obviously).

When both sides have a solid green, people that are turning left across from you just GO. It’s kinda wild.

I’ve been turning right and people just plow through the intersection so I have to slam on my brakes. What’s going on yall.

At this point I just anticipate people will go anyway and wait, further perpetuating bad driving 😂
Have you experienced this?

Piano Lessons

hi! I’m new in the Bay Area, I am an adult with little experience playing piano and I would like to start some piano lessons. I know that there is the conservatory, but I would like to know if there are private teachers around.

Thanks :)

Does it feel like racism is increasing in the Bay Area?

I've lived in the Bay Area for 30 years (almost my whole life), and one of the things I've always loved most is how diverse it is. Growing up here, I appreciated being able to meet and connect with people from so many different backgrounds.

Lately, I've been wondering if something has changed - or if I'm just noticing things more as I get older. Over the past few years, I've experienced multiple instances of what felt like microaggressions or openly hostile interactions, and they've left me feeling sad and frustrated.

Yesterday at the Redwood City Costco, a few other customers and I gestured to a white woman with a shopping cart that we wanted to cross in front of her to get to the customer service desk. She paused for maybe a second to let us through - there were five of us (all people of color). As we walked by, she said loudly, "Once you let one through, 30 go through."

Maybe she was just annoyed about people cutting across, but the tone and the way she said it didn't sit right with me. By the time I processed what had happened, she was already gone, and I wished I'd said something.

This wasn't an isolated incident for me; it's one of several interactions over the past few years that have made me feel less welcome than I used to.

I'm genuinely curious: has anyone else felt like racism or xenophobia has become more noticeable in the Bay Area recently, or do you think people are just more on edge in general?

Need apartment recs for 3k budget

I’ve set my budget at 3k but I wanted some rec before going and touring a bunch of places. I’m in my late 20s, single, and want to be walking distance to downtown/CalTrain.

Hoping 3k would be enough for a 1b/1b, but I’m not sure. I’m don’t need a fancy place with amenities, but somewhere clean, well-maintained, dog-friendly and safe is the bare minimum.

LGBTQ+ PCP in Redwood City - Kaiser P network

I'm moving from Washington, DC where I had an amazing doctor at a clinic that specialized in LGBTQ+ patients. Anyone have any recommendations for a primary care physician in the area within the Kaiser network? If not in the RWC area, easily accessible via Caltrain?
