Please review this frequently asked questions post before posting to make sure your question has not already been answered. We have had a number of questions get asked repeatedly and we hope this will prove helpful.
Q: Will I get charged for renting a disc from a Redbox kiosk?
A: No, the Redbox backend no longer exists to handle payment.
Q: Do the Redbox kiosks store my private information?
A: To an extent. Things like credit card information are stored in a completely PCI compliant way and are not at risk for breach despite what some news outlets report. However, your rental history and email might be exposed. Read the Redbox privacy policy for more details.
Q: Is it theft to rent discs?
A: No. As long as you’re using a legitimate card it is up to Redbox to collect payment.
Q: I've visited a Redbox kiosk but it had insert thing on the screen! Help!
A: here are a few things you might encounter on a Redbox and what they might mean. A black screen that says Redbox is sorry means that the kiosk is loading, this is normal after startup but if it doesn’t go away within 10 minutes, there is a problem. A red screen that says Redbox is sorry, this indicates a hardware failure of some sort, you typically cannot get past this without a repair.
Q: How do I get my own Redbox kiosk?
A: In some cases you are able to get permission from a store to uninstall the kiosk, You can also sometimes buy them off of contractors hired to remove them. There are also people on this sub and in the discord server who have them for sale, be sure to keep an eye out. DO NOT TAKE ONE WITHOUT PERMISSION.

Q: Why would anyone want a Redbox kiosk?
A: Because its awesome! and it can be used as an at home disc dispenser!
Q: Aren't discs obsolete?
A: Depends on who you are and your preferences. Blu-ray discs can provide the same, if not better quality than a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu without needing a highspeed internet connection or a monthly subscription. And if you have an Xbox or PlayStation (non digital) then you already have a device capable of playing Blu-ray discs.
Q: How heavy are the Kiosks?
A: From 600-800lbs or 270-360kg
Q: What OS do they run?
A: Windows 7 embedded standard or Windows 10 enterprise. Historically windows XP.

Anybody have extras they’re willing to sell off for cheap on depop or vinted maybe? Decided to try and find the ones I couldn’t get out of machines near me and figured I’d ask y’all. I don’t even need the Redbox case I don’t care about that I’m just looking to find these movies for cheap. Also any format works for me unless I specified next to the title!

I found this Redbox Kiosk this afternoon while out for a motorcycle ride. It is turned on, and the menu is working. I don't know if it is spitting out dvd's or not as I didn't try since I had nowhere to put any. The woman inside the convenience store said, "Come back Monday through Friday between 8 and 2pm since that's when the owner is here. She said as far as she knows, he would love it if someone removed it. I told her I would check back early in the week. This is located at 101 Lee Highway, Verona Va/ExxonMobil Station. Please excuse the 3rd pic as the sun was pretty bright when these were taken. I was trying to show that the menu was working. 😀 This is not too fat from where I live, and I thought my area was totally cleaned out by late 2024. I have 2 that I acquired back then, and this would make 3. I do see minimal rust on the bottom of the machine. I could come back the next time with a key and open this up just to see what it had to offer. More info to come.

Since the domain is dead, I decided to host it myself and allow others to use it. I should be able to keep up to date with tile data, which removes API limits since its self hosted, but its not a high focus since most of these businesses have existed way beforehand.

Update post from my last one.

Ive since went back 3 times spending about an hour and a half per trip. Ive gotten around 450 ish discs. Blu ray and dvd alike. And of those 450 about 80 - 90% of those are unique movies. There are only like 2 movies with more than 2 or 3 duplicates (those being Creed 3 and Magic Mike)

Im organizing them at the moment but ill be keeping the ones I want and then donating 80% of them to local "little free libraries" that are around my area. . Ill be dropping the kids movies and a few actions ones at the libraries and then also my local churches that I go to. and then with the other miscellaneous ones ill be handing em out to my friends and people I know over the next few months. . . Just as a way to give back to the community and also I dont need 450 discs haha. . . P.S. IF ANYONE WANTS THE LOCATION OF THE EMPTY REDBOX MACHINE.
