I was messing around with the Panoramic Map and the ink imprint mirrored on the other side of the parchment... did Rockstar hide a symmetrical insect/ guitar-spider silhouette in plain sight? I stuck the images together so the skies meet, then omited the whole sky.

So I have never thought the NW 🎸 meant to go to the guitars in Fort Wallace. I've always thought it had something to do with a much closer location: Carmody Dell.

There is a well known nursery rhyme, The Farmer in the Dell.

So I was wondering, could the feathers have some kind of corresponding order to the notes of the song? One color of feathers corresponding to the half notes, and the other color corresponding to the quarter notes (see pic).

Just a thought that maybe the guitar might be a red herring and the real clue is a song.

I used to know a little about music but that was years ago. Does anyone have any input that plays instruments or studies music?

Also to add on to this theory, there's also the lyrics, and the game. The song goes that a farmer takes a wife, who has a kid, who then gets a dog, the dog chases a cat, the cat chases the mouse, and the mouse gets the cheese.

The farmer once had a wife but she is seemingly passed away. Her picture is on the mantle and evidence of her existing is throughout the house but she is nowhere to be found. We know the farmer has a kid because of the Hosea mission to rob him of his wagon. He has a dog. Don't know if he has a cat, but there is a plate of cheese in the dining area.

The tune also has a sister song, A Hunting We Will Go, which I'm not sure would tie in to the mystery; but we definitely are hunting for clues 🤷🏼‍♀️

This game makes me think of perhaps a certain order to shoot the feathers or interact with them somehow based on the notes and verses of the song. I'm really not sure how but if someone has a music oriented brain, maybe they can help.

I was riding to Rhodes and a couple very much looking like these guys passed by. She was tied up and stowed on the back of his horse. I shot down the guy and then accidentally kill the lady while trying to cut the ropes to let her loose.

Right after I did that a panther attacked me and shortly after I came around the Old Harry Fen how where I found the picture.

Anyone remember any comments on any posts that sound like they could be potentially be a dev hinting at next steps??

BACKGROUND:

I’ve been trying for a while to connect a group of mysteries spread across Rockstar’s two major franchises. On the RDR2 side, there’s Edmund Lowry, the murdered Blackwater Athletics Team, Hani’s Bethel, and Mount Shann. On the GTA side, there’s GTA V’s Infinity Killer and Mount Chiliad, along with Eddie Low and chiliad8888 in GTA IV.

At first I assumed there had to be one conspiracy behind all of it, but every attempt to make that work led to claims I couldn’t really support.

I’m starting to think the connection may be less literal. These people may not all belong to the same cult, know about each other, or even exist in the same continuity. Rockstar may simply keep building mysteries out of the same small collection of images and ideas, with the repetition itself being the thing we’re supposed to notice.

CONTEXT SINCE I'M CROSSPOSTING TO BOTH SUBS:

Edmund Lowry is the serial killer in RDR2 whose mutilated victims form a clue trail. The Blackwater Athletics Team is a separate group of eleven missing athletes killed while on "a group athletics run" whose bodies can be found together in a mass grave. Hani’s Bethel is the abandoned cabin containing the bodies of a UFO cult, along with a sermon explaining what they believed.

In GTA, the Infinity Killer mystery involves eight murdered joggers who disappeared in December 1999. Eddie Low is the serial killer from GTA IV who also targets joggers and people walking alone at night. Mount Chiliad is, obviously, the center of GTA V’s biggest UFO mystery.

THE PATTERNS:

The first thing that really caught my attention was the similarity between Hani’s Bethel and the Blackwater Athletics Team grave.

There are eleven bodies at Hani’s Bethel. There are also eleven victims in the Athletics Team grave. Both groups appear to be wearing the same distinctive athletic shoes. They look almost like bowling shoes or primitive sneakers, although they are probably meant to be period athletic footwear.

The shoes make sense in both scenes for different reasons. The Blackwater victims were athletes, so there is nothing strange about them wearing athletic shoes. Hani’s Bethel is an obvious reference to Heaven’s Gate, whose members famously died wearing matching Nike sneakers.

I don’t think Edmund Lowry dressed the Athletics Team to resemble the cultists. The athletes would already have been wearing those shoes. What interests me is that Rockstar created two separate mass-death scenes with exactly eleven bodies and gave both groups the same conspicuous visual detail.

It could be asset reuse. On its own, that would probably be the most reasonable explanation. But the matching footwear is such an important part of the Heaven’s Gate reference that reusing it on another group of exactly eleven dead people feels oddly specific.

The Infinity Killer repeats part of this pattern. His eight victims were young men who disappeared while jogging. Their bodies were later found together, with 8 or infinity symbols carved into them. There are also unexplained shoes hanging inside Merle Abrahams’s burned house, and the shoes re-appear in the sewers in the new Kortz heist along with a bunch of 8's written on the wall. Some mystery hunters have claimed that eight sets of shoes can be found hanging from wires around the desert, although I have not checked every location myself, so take that with a grain of salt.

Even without the shoes over the wires, there is a recurring association here. Hani’s Bethel has eleven dead cultists in matching athletic shoes. Blackwater has eleven murdered athletes in what appear to be the same shoes. The Infinity Killer targets eight joggers and has additional repeating shoe imagery.

That does not prove the same person caused all three events. It does suggest Rockstar keeps linking numbered groups of dead men with athletics, running, and footwear.

The date of the Infinity murders is probably the strongest part of this.

The Hani’s Bethel sermon says the cultists will cast off their “corporal shells,” travel to a promised realm, and remain there until the two-thousandth year. They will then return for “the new chosen” and worship again at the peak of Mount Shann.

The Infinity victims disappeared in December 1999.

So Rockstar has one mystery in which a group of dead UFO worshippers promises to return in 2000 for a new group of chosen people, and another mystery in which eight young men are ritually murdered immediately before that year begins.

I don’t know what the exact implication would be. Maybe the eight victims were intended to be the “new chosen.” Maybe they were sacrifices connected to the return. Maybe their bodies were supposed to serve as new shells or vessels. Maybe the stories are only meant to echo each other rather than intersect literally. But the timing seems difficult to ignore.

Mount Shann adds another layer. The sermon says the cult will return to worship at its peak, and Mount Shann is associated with a UFO that only appears under specific conditions. It also contains the strange stone structure usually described as a sundial or astronomical marker. I still don’t know what that structure is meant to do, but it fits the sermon’s emphasis on exact hours, moon phases, celestial travel, and an appointed future date.

Mount Shann obviously is not in GTA V, but Mount Chiliad serves a remarkably similar function. Both are mountains associated with conditional UFO appearances. Both are central mystery sites. At Chiliad, the player is also told to return when their story is complete, once again tying revelation to waiting until a particular condition has been fulfilled.

The name “Chiliad” may matter here. A chiliad is a group of one thousand. Chiliasm is the belief in a coming thousand-year sacred age, and a believer in it is called a chiliast. The words share the same Greek root for “thousand.”

Hani’s Bethel is essentially a chiliastic UFO cult. Its members leave their physical bodies, wait for an appointed millennial transition, and expect to return for a new elect.

The point is not that RDR2 and GTA V take place a thousand years apart. They obviously do not. The possible connection is that Mount Shann is the sacred UFO mountain of a chiliastic cult, while Mount Chiliad is Rockstar’s other conditional-UFO mountain and is named from the same “thousand” root.

That does not prove Shann and Chiliad are literally the same place or that the same cult exists in both games. It is still a very specific parallel: a millenarian UFO religion centered on one mountain, followed elsewhere in Rockstar’s work by another UFO mountain named after the root word for one thousand.

Eddie Low also seems to belong in this recurring pattern. Like the Infinity Killer, he targets joggers and people walking alone at night. His name also sounds suspiciously close to Edmund Lowry. That could just be a joke or a loose callback rather than a literal relationship, but both characters are serial killers associated with victims who are out running or exercising.

More importantly, Eddie posts on whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com, the same conspiracy website associated with a user called chiliad8888. That gives the serial-killer material and the Chiliad material an actual point of contact inside GTA IV. It does not mean Eddie understands some larger conspiracy, but Rockstar deliberately placed a jogger-killing serial killer on the same conspiracy site as a user named after Chiliad.

This is why I’m moving away from the idea that one immortal killer or one secret organization has to explain everything. The characters may have no direct relationship at all.

What keeps returning is the same general shape: numbered groups of dead people, athletic victims, conspicuous shoes, bodies left to be discovered, cultists treating the body as a temporary shell, a promised return around the millennium, mountains where UFOs appear under specific conditions, and infinity as a symbol of recurrence or survival beyond death.

Some parts of this are much stronger than others. The December 1999 murders lining up with the cult’s promised return in 2000 means more than two scenes sharing a shoe model. I’m not trying to treat every resemblance as equally important.

I also don’t think this proves that Edmund Lowry belonged to the Hani’s Bethel cult, that Merle Abrahams/Eddie Low knowingly continued his work, or that Mount Shann somehow became Mount Chiliad. What it may show is that Rockstar keeps reconstructing the same kind of mystery from slightly different pieces.

The century changes. The body count changes. The characters change. Sometimes even the game universe changes. But the same ideas keep coming back. I kept looking for the person or force connecting all of these mysteries. I’m starting to think there may not be one. Maybe the repetition is the mystery.

Please let me know what you think, I'm hoping you guys can help me flesh this out.

I was doing one of the explorer challenges and got the map at the hill home and saw this x on the tree. Thought nothing of it and walked away but turned around to go the other way and say these symbols. You get closer and they go away but the x stays. What is this? I looked on Reddit and couldn’t find a post about it but maybe just didn’t look hard enough

I noticed that if you follow the direction indicated by the bird symbol, it seems to point almost directly toward the location where the hatchet can be found.

That made me wonder about the angled wooden part of the Target as well. Could it possibly represent another direction or line across the map?

I marked the line on the map and highlighted a few locations it passes through. Do yall think the places where this line intersects notable areas could be worth treating as possible POIs for the mystery?

I also think the heart at Bacchus Bridge is connected to the woman in the barrel

I was looking for clues for the spider-web mystery in the newest gtao update.

I notice that two paintings have the same motive - a nest with two little bird eggs. Maybe its a hint?

I know rdro had nests with birds used as collectibles. Maybe the spider-web mystery added two bird nests to SP or something like that?

The first painting has a skull on the vase and a bunch of drugs. I can see:
- magic mushrooms
- cannabis
- poppy flowers

I don't recognize those big hanging ones tho.

Could be a hint that you need to be under the influence of drugs? Witches cauldron perhaps?

Previously I made a post where I said that fallowing the webs in chronological order (excluding the red feathered webs) creates a pentagram.

Inside the pentagram there's a little farm. There's also a chicken coop with some eggs. But I doubt its related.

Painting of 2 quail can be found at Beecher's Hope and the smaller Valentine Saloon. Is there a way we can locate where these paintings are? And... triangulate?

Basically, IPLs are map placement files that tell the game what objects to place and where. The game can load or unload them to change parts of the world, like swapping in the destroyed bridge after a mission, adding/removing props, or other world details. I personally wasn't able to find anything that calls this IPL.

My current opinion:

• Most likely: unused or cut content left in the files :(
• Still possible: a deliberately obfuscated secret trigger activates it

This is mostly a call to action for other dataminers to investigate this. But also to people who have hunted all mysteries so far in-game, that maybe, just maybe you've already did something that reveals this, or have any clear theories you can try.

I'm currently retracing the steps of the spider dream mystery, hoping to find something we've overlooked. Lets assume for a bit that the 3 images found in fort Brennand relate to the telephone pole, the kerosine factory, and the register rock (in stead of the oil patch, both can be true or false, but I think the register rock makes more sense).

I don't think I'm really onto something here, but I've noticed that both the kerosine factory & the register rock have a JM reference. The 4th outhouse in Butchers Creek has the LJ & SM initials, covered by 2 planks that can be shot individually ('changing' the initials to LS & JM, but if you only use the surnames, J + M also makes a lot of sense).

So I know I'm reaching a bit, but I was curious if anyone has seen any more JM or maybe LS carvings anywhere?

I’m working on a new theory regarding the spider web mystery, and there are a few pieces of the exhibit I have to mention.

I was particularly struck by the painting depicting a mountain. The UFO is beaming up three figures. There are nine birds around them.

Ayauhtéotl also makes a comeback from Undead Nightmare.

Also featured are the Fertility Statue, the meteor, a familiar statue from Saint Denis (which can also be found in front of Algernon’s workshop), and a portrait of the mayor of Saint Denis.

The painting titled “The Great Circle Back” does not feature the same characters as those shown in the email sent by Rockstar.

There’s plenty to look at, lots of small details and reused content from RDR2. I don’t think any of this is a coincidence.

Howdy, folks! I have a question.

After a hiatus from RDR2 I took a dive back into the Spiderweb mystery and although this is likely unrelated I discovered something I haven't seen before.

In the house/shack to the side of Catfish Jacksons there is a poker playing card with the number 5 in the shape of an arrow pointing out the window which the community was already aware of, with some considering it a glitch.

The question comes from the following; After shooting the deck of cards next to the "arrow" a few cards shuffled around the table with one of them sliding out being an indestructible peacock that has no markings of belonging to an Ace, a Queen, a Jack or anything such.

I don't know if there are more of such cards out in the world. I just wanted to know if this was something new or old, sorry if I wasted any time, thanks!

Has anyone come across this? I’m starting to dive into the mysteries of RDR2 and this subreddit, so I decided to go exploring. My first stop is Colter. While exploring the old safehouse, I came across this..painting? It looks like it says ‘The’ in the top left corner, clearly depicts a male figure on the left hand side, and possibly also shows a shadowed figure behind the male image. The thing that stood out to me initially was the pile of clothes in front of the painting, and how it almost looked like a 3-D image with the person’s outfit protruding from the painting.

Has anyone else noticed this? Any backstory or meaning?

I have a theory for the Two Birds, One Stone scenario. I’m a longtime player, but new to the investigations. Apologies if something is repeated. Anyways…

So I went down a rabbit hole treasure hunting, googled Ammolite and Fluorite, and ended up on this Reddit thread. Even more interesting, I may have just come across a lead after my gameplay just now.

I just got done bonding with an American Paint and selling it and was looking for something to do. I decided to start completing treasure map quests, and from there learned about Ammolite and Fluorite. So I went to check out the location, and upon arrival, was met with multiple birds, eagles.

At first, there was just two eagles on clifftops near each other that I killed before continuing closer towards the actual nest site. But as I walked up on the nest site from the clifftop, I approached two eagles sunbathing right next to each other on top of the cliff. I shot them both, but as I was running up to them, I remembered the two birds mystery that has been going on. I don’t want to accidentally screw anything up just in case, so I’m restarting without saving.

But, does this mean anything? Two eagles above the nest? I know it’s a stupid question, but has anyone asked this question yet?

Maybe it’s just a meaningless observation, but I just wanted to offer my input on what I encountered. The way the Eagles laid after I shot them instantly reminded me of the two birds image. Gameplay attached for proof haha. Hope this wasn’t completely useless.​

I'm have two working theories about the tree with the mysterious symbols on it next to the Mysterious Hill Home.

To me the house is directly indicated by Algers Helgerson when you meet him in the Epilogue as the place that the new Chelonian Master comes from. You find a suicide ceremony at the original location from the quest that Mary sends you on.

One theory is that the texture change related to this tree is related to the long distance textures carrying the text but that an event was removed so when you get close had been cleaned up - simply an artwork issue on final release that never got corrected.

Understanding the text though I have tried a lot based on the theory that it reads Leader X with Leader doubled and back to back and X as a reference to the map symbol for dead.

I've tried all sorts of placement of both the new Chelonain master (with the shell) and Algers (he's the one marked Chelonian - he says in St Denis that he will be joining the ceremony IIRC) - round the tree, back to back with a little lasso dragging to get them that way and then using a fire bottle.

Also working on some other area I brought two snapping turtles up (assuming it might be a Turtles all the way down ref) and did the same thing.

One thing I can say that on occasion there is a distinct boom when the fire bottles go off and the tree turns sort of mesh and wierd but I think either it is a glitch or if there is something to be done I don't have the complete picture.

I've tried various extra things like doing the jump with the Chelonians and then completing.

Haven't actually tried lugging up the Chelonian Master all that way manually with two horses carrying 3* Snapping Turtles to make it a 3 layer turtles all the way down. btw last time I rode the two 3* Snapping turtles up I discovered one had a green belly and one had a white one.. probably nothing at all but you end up thinking like a conspiracy theorist when trying to find secrets in games.

I might leave it here and just go and research Spider Webs since I'm late to the party on that so I'm just leaving these observations here in case anybody else wants to take up the baton.

So, many players have lamented the fact that there are no free roam bank robberies in RDRII.
The banks in Saint Denis and Valentine are robbed as a matter of course in the story mission progression, and the Bank of Rhodes may be robbed in a bonus companion activity in Ch IV for the ultimate/special editions.

However, I noticed that the Bank of Rhodes has a posted open hours sign that says 6AM-12PM daily. If your protagonist leaves the bank lobby in peace, the Bank Teller NPC will say something like "your money is safe with us" as he leaves. It seems like the banks were meant to be working places to do business, like the stores, the way they were set up.

The amount of detail spent on the interiors of the bank seems like a lot, especially since most of it can't be accessed except in the previously mentioned mission activity.

So, my question to data miners is if there is any evidence that banks were once intended to be robbed in free roam, unused dialogue or other assets, etc. It would be interesting if they had at one time, planned for the protagonist to store money and/or valuables in a bank.

I get it that they decided to get rid of it to keep players from farming free roam bank robberies for money, as they made train robberies require a lot of player skill to do at a profit, if paying off the bounty is a consideration.
