We discovered this game back in 2020 on the ps4 store and from then on it became me and my cousin's favorite game since it was free and fun to play. Then later on we also got it on the quest store and played it all the time from then on. I wish i couldve saved my avatar but sadly i didnt know how to do it and i ran out of time š

When the game shut down and the merch store closed, what happened to the remaining merch? Was it given to staff? Stored away? Whatever it may be.

I want to take a few things off my chest.
Rec Room was the best VR game I ever played in my life. Rec Room, to be honest, was the first multiplayer game I ever downloaded on VR. I played Rec Room since 2019 but lost 2 accounts.
Ever since it shut down, Iāve been thinking a lot about what happened. In my opinion, one thing that may have contributed was Roomie and the AI features. Since AI has to run on servers, I wonder if it increased the cost of keeping the servers running and maintaining the game. I donāt know if that actually caused the shutdown, but itās something Iāve thought about.
No matter what the reason was, I really miss Rec Room. It wasnāt just another VR gameāit was where I made memories, met friends, and spent countless hours having fun.
Rec Room will always be a part of my life, and Iāll never forget everything it gave me. Thank you for all the memories. And no matter what⦠Iāll always give it my Rec Room best. ā¤ļø

Since Rec Room shut down on the 1st, my friend has been downloading player data and images from rec.net from the 1st through the 16th over the last few weeks we have been putting all of the information together to create a timeline as a way to remember everyone who was still here in those final days/moments. All dates are based on New Zealand time.
You can see it here:Ā https://recnettimeline.com
If you were active during that window, take a look and see if you're on there. Thank you to everyone who made this community what it was.
If your missing or dont have a profile picture but would like one to be added contact me on discord at _.said.

This is a long one so if youāre not interested in reading a big paragraph about someoneās take on something, donāt bother. Nonetheless itās still⦠maybe mildly interesting to read?
A big question that Iāve always asked myself is What made Rec Room so special? Well, in my opinion itās a plethora of things. Iāve been playing Rec Room since 2019 and transitioned to playing on a Meta Quest 2 in 2021, which is what I still play on now! So if that helps solidify that I have a little bit of experience throughout the gameās lifespan, if youād even call it a game. What do I mean? I feel like only calling Rec Room just a āgameā isnāt very accurate to what it was. Honestly from all of the games Iāve ever played, Rec Room stands out on such a different level. Now if you wanted the real-deal Rec Room experience you had to have played on VR (in my opinion). VR itself already opens so many more possibilities to gaming itself and takes it from being yāknow, a game, to being so much more. Now other games utilize that quite horribly sometimes, like ahem⦠VRchat. BUT, the way Rec Room did it was so⦠unique. Now to be honest, I think it was completely unintentional. Rec Room was originally just basically Wii Sports in VR, but when they mix so many unique ways of interacting as well as the light-hearted nature of the game, it just clicks. Take the party, friend, and revive features. To party you literally had to fist bump someone, to friend you had to give a handshake, and to revive someone you had to give them a high-five. That sort of interaction just makes everything feel more friendly in a way.
Letās not even get started on the theme. Just the actual gameplay and theme mix together so well. The entire theme revolves around a college campus. Take that and new players who might feel shy or unfamiliar when starting out to meeting new people, making friends, etc⦠It really has that sort of social feeling out of something youād get in real-world interactions. Thatās unique. Really unique. Rec Room really did feel like a college too! Sports, Quests (literally just theatre plays), and even classes that were hosted! The events feature was honestly my favorite, well, aside from when those military games started coming around. Now look at the Maker Pen. Literally just a hot glue gun and it opened possibilities to so many things and had a very arts-and-crafts feel to it. Letās not even get started on the community. People in the Creative Club were some of the most amazing, nice, and tangible people Iāve ever met (Iāve actually met Meriesa before). Speaking of clubs, look at those! There were so many clubs for so many different communities. Canāt forget leagues either, those had great communities too! Just all of these things blended together so well and just⦠fit. We had major events too, like the Reclympics or Rec Con for example! All of these things just made the game feel so personal in a way. This is exactly why I just cannot say that Rec Room was just a game.
Thatās where I get to now, and I feel like the best way to truly label Rec Room is NOT a game, but more like a social sandbox, or even a āthird placeā in a way. Think about it, during COVID 19 we all had nothing better to do, or even before & after it. A lot of people would go to work/school, come home, do some things, and go straight into this entire different world with a whole community and experience that set itself so differently from others. Now this is a little different for each person because a lot of people werenāt very involved in the community at all and basically just used it as an alternative Roblox or VRchat, so it can be hard to understand a viewpoint like this is you didnāt experience it, but it was amazing. I literally grew up around this game for years and it actually taught me a lot of lessons about doing right things and being involved in your community. Iām 16 and Iāve actually been volunteering at a few places. Itās just something thatās so different about Rec Room that stood out from any other game Iāve ever played. It was so much more. The term āGive it your Rec Room best!ā didnāt make as much sense to me as it does now, because I fully understand the meaning. It means to be creative, kind, social, involved, and most especially optimistic. Rec Room may be gone, but the influence of it and the culture lives on as a little part in everyone who experienced it.
To summarize everything, Rec Roomās deep community and creative focus mixed with the theme and environment of an actual college gave such a unique experience that isnāt like other game. Even titles like VRchat canāt compare quite the same, since at its core it kind of is just a Roblox for VR sort of thing. Sure, Rec Room started leaning that way too after a while, but still!
Additional Note: Rec Room was only Rec Room from 2016-2023
Thatās all from me. Thank you for reading! (if you did :p)

I was originally looking for anything but realizing that may not be a choice or in my best interest, I have narrowed it down to three things:
The Rec room Watch
ā Probably the hardest thing to get and will most likely take the longest. Though, I'm willing to pay 500-800 dollars, and more if it comes to it.
Rec Room Hat
ā This can be any hat except the ones with the rec room logo on it (unless if it's stitched)
The Rec Room Mug
ā From what I have seen, I know how the original one looks and how fakes look.
Please let me know if you can help me! I look forward to hearing back from somebody!

I assume putting these under self promotion is probably the best idea, but Iām not necessarily looking to gain anything out of this.
I have made a few playlists that are Rec Room related for your convenience.
Rec Room Full Collection (all OSTs as well as some additional content. this is my favorite and it has plenty of content)

For anyone who doesn't know. I used to make Rec Room Tales, the most popular one being "Quest For The Golden Trophy". I stopped playing Rec Room and stopped making the tales. With Rec Room shutting down I made a video talking about some tales I had plans for.
Hope you enjoy.

Im not talking about the near future just anytime in the future. I wonder if the devs will like try to recreate it after a few years or so?
If you think they wont tell me why you think that way too. im just curious
