Hey so i bought this 2004 RX8 about 2 months ago. I did an oil change and other maintenance when i first got it. But I have noticed that my oil level has been the same since doing the oil change, and I have put about 1500km on it since. I have been premixing about 1oz/gal. Is there a way to test out the omp?

Are auto RX8s “bad”? I heard that they cannot rev as high as a manual, but i found a great deal on an auto.

Car started when pushed it idled well but shut off after 2 stop signs so I think my alternator is bad too but my battery terminals were a bit dirty so I cleaned them too

I use the AC quite often, but this happened to me maybe 3-5 times throughout my 4 years of ownership. This particular instance it had been sitting in 36C+ heat with 2 thunderstorms woven in between. I started getting the coolant warning light at 80k miles currently the car is at 88k miles. This did not happen for the first 3 mins of the ride when I had the vents open with AC off, only did this with AC on.

So the RX8 I got recently has a bit of wear and tear on the bumpers and I want to replace them at some point. I just want some recommendations on where to look or some good looking bumpers (UK) as I don’t wanna purchase something that won’t be worth the money

This error code showed up recently after having the engine bay shampooed over a leaking oil pressure sensor switch.

Car seems to run and drive fine… only recent noticeable issue was after a 200 highway drive it struggled to start (first rough start ever) twice. Next day started normal. coils and plugs done 2000km ago. Oil switch 1000km ago

I also notice it has been running a little rough at idle with ac on. But smooth with ac off.

Should I do all 3 solenoids? We dont have emissions testing here but I prefer to keep engine light off.

Also I reset the light and it stayed off for 4 days and came back on going over a cattle gate.

It just wont fart fire for some reason

Got a CEL on my RX8 Series 2 this morning, P0333. Went to check it, and I see this lying around. The sensor seems to be connected properly, but I did smell something similar to burning plastic. Anyone know what this could be?

I've had a 2010 RX-8 thats been sitting for a few years after a rebuild because I was unable to get the oil pumped primed.

Does anyone know places in or near Georgia that can help? I called Mazcare and they said they wouldnt.

On rockauto there's Delphi with a lifetime warranty. A-premium on Amazon. Lots of generic ones on ebay. I could also just get a fuel pump and not the whole assembly? Also what tool should I buy for the locking ring?

Hey guys i recently rebuilt the 13b for my 8 and after driving it around 30km or so the car went into limp mode. I checked the codes and it was throwing one for the OMP, i checked and some coolant had fried the electrics in it so i fully replaced the OMP. After replacing the code is gone however its still in limp mode, is there like a reset procedure i have to do or do u guys have any ideas on how to fix it, thanks

New to owning a rotary. I recently bought an RX-8, and the previous owner said he’d run it on 98 RON for the entire time he owned it and never premixed because he didn’t think it was necessary. The engine still has really good compression.

I’m planning to keep running 98 since it’s been happy on it so far, but I want to do what’s best for the engine long-term. Would it be fine to start adding Idemitsu Racing Rotary Premix with 98, or would it be better to switch back to 95 and premix instead?

Just looking for the best way to keep the engine as healthy as possible.

Hello, I am in need of help since i am in middle of engine rebuild and forgot my insurance needs photo of miles on dash, since whole engine bay is stripped I can't make the picture, so the question is, which pins and ecu do I need to power for only the dash to have one picture of my current miles ?

I have a 2004 Mazda RX-8 with no sunroof. Yesterday I was changing my tires while it was raining, and I had the car jacked up on one side for a while.
Afterward, I noticed a bunch of water on the passenger-side floor. I’ve never had water in the passenger floor before, and I didn’t notice any water coming through the door, door seal, or trim.
My battery has also been dead for a while, so the A/C hasn’t been running.
Could jacking the car up on one side in the rain have caused water to get into the passenger footwell somehow? Should I be checking the cowl drains, windshield area, or somewhere else?
Any ideas what could cause this?

Hello everyone.

I just bought this 13b msp for 1k. It comes from a wrecked rx8 after a badly ended drift session. It had 40k kms after its last rebuild and was running nice hot and cold.

It has some surface rust outside but I have spare parts for most of those. What should I inspect before putting this back in? Is opening necessary?

I was planning on doing the poor man compression test to hear the compression and putting an endoscope in it to see if there is any visible rust

I'm considering buying this rx-8 on market place, it's for about 90k miles it just have a short block replacement in the last ownership the car itself is super clean, my main worry is that I'm going to be daily driving it and I don't want something to happen and I'm without a car, Ive already seen that I should premix the fuel, and add a SOHN adapter kit but besides that I'm not too sure what to add, is there anything seriously off putting about this car that I should know? Or anything that I should replace or add right after buying, thanks everyone for any answer you could provide me

Picked up this 2010 Aurora Blue Mica RX-8 R3 a few days ago. I am absolutely loving the way it drives. My only gripes right now are the porous sun visors and the passenger dash that’s prone to cracking. Anyone have a good fix for the latter?

I’m the car guy in the friend circle but haven’t really had much experience with these. Other than the usual checks for corrosion, visible leaks and damage/wear items nearing end of life you would look for on any car of any make or age, what should I be wary of? I know to get it compression tested and that they need to have a good maintenance plan to live happily, what strange gremlins should I beware of when test driving and inspecting?
