Is the Sony RX100vii worth it new today?

I just picked it up, it is an impressive camera for the size and has really cool features built in (literally).

I also have a Canon R50, which is a different breed of camera altogether, but it does perform better in all kinds of lighting. However, it’s not as pocketable.

What are your thoughts of this 2019 Sony ? And why the heck is it still \~$1700 new after tax ?

How is the RX 100 VII's Reliability? Uses vs New Purchase

I'm in the market for a RX100, it will be my first Sony camera (replacing my Canon G15 which was quite a tank).

I'm toying with the idea of purchasing the camera brand new (approx. $1800-2000 CDN, with warranty coverage), but part of me would like to save a few hundred and go to the grey market (unknown warranty coverage - $1600), or used ($1400 - 1500, no warranty coverage).

I'm curious how everyone's experience has been with the camera, and what the reliability is like under normal circumstances (e.g. no drops or moisture).

Thinking of switching from GR4 HDF to the rx100 7

I recently bought the gr4, having a hard time with the auto focus, and pictures not coming out as I expect them to be. Also afraid of getting dust in it, which makes me handle the camera like a baby and constantly trying to protect it. Also missing the zoom…

I’m a noobie when it comes to cameras, I want something that takes great quality pics but also want something small like a gr4, that’s when I found the rx100 7

Wanted to ask if anyone has made the switch from gr4 to rx100 7, if so, how was the experience? Worth it? Regret it? Is the rx100 user friendly and easy to maneuver for a camera noob like me?

My hesitation to move to rx100 7 is that it’s a 7 year old camera, not sure if the price is worth it or if I should just hold off until something new comes along

If you had to price the RX100 VII, how much would you price it at?

feedback is welcome :) got an rx100vii a few days ago, my first "real" digital camera. wanted something powerful but portable, since im used to shooting on a bulky 35mm film SLR, and rarely care to bring it out with me these days (plus film is expensive).

still getting the hang of RAW editing but i think i did a good job for my first few hours learning the camera & rapidRAW. dont even have a CPL for it yet, which would have come in handy for these shots, i have one in the mail.
