I just got contracted this summer, but I just got an injury. The likelihood is that I will be out for the semester. (3-4 months starting now)

My issue is, I am scared my scholarship will get paused and won't pay for my tuition. I know the Army takes ~45 days to distribute funds to universities for those who opted for the tuition option, but I am now exremelt worried that it won't be signed off on now that I am injured. I already took the AFT, and I heard from someone that you will be fine as long as you can take the AFT once per semester - I've also seen people still be able to definitely participate in Classes, Labs, and sometimes FTX.

For those who dealt with this situation, what were your options?

Hey all, MS3 non scholarship contracted SMP CDT. I have always been prescribed Klonopin for fear of flying , which MEPS and DODMerb has seen and waivered.

Last December, I was about to head off to study abroad and my Dr. prescribed it again. I honestly didn’t think to report it specifically, because it’s been on my record. I don’t NEED it to fly, but it sure is helpful. I fly without it. I didn’t use the prescription, but I am wondering if I need to report it since I was already on it before, and if it’s going to jeopardize my army career?

I didn’t even think about it until I saw it looking for my immunizations. Obviously I will let my cadre know but just wondering if this is gonna mess me up? Thanks!

Medical Service Corps is the only branch I'm really interested in, but I was told it's currently full. What options do I have if I still want to commission into the Army National Guard?

I also plan on applying to medical school in the next 1–2 years, so I'm not sure if I should wait, branch something else, or pursue another route. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

So on the day I arrived (9th REG), cadre told us that we could present any items that would be considered contraband and not get in trouble if they’re discarded. I felt that this was an attempt to catch cadets and give them a negative report. I am in D Co and have some items that I really want to turn in because I feel bad about compromising my integrity, but the cadre are tough to talk to. For example, I asked my PTO if we could get some additional training on land navigation before assessment and they happily trained us on DnC for hours. Does anyone have advice on how to approach this topic? Will sharing my snacks with my PTO help lessen the blow? I also lost my compass on the land navigation site and feel they’ll yell at me. I should feel comfortable coming to my cadre right? Anyways, I have to go down to formation and can’t find my headgear. Please drop your advice here please.

What factors do they look at? Is it simply based off state vacancies? What does it look like for engineers?

What other schools are offered to cadets besides AASLT, AB and MW? I was just curious as to what other schools cadets can go to and if they all have to be in the summer?

Just wrapped up CST and was wondering what the expected timeline was this year for getting my unit and branch assignment (have heard conflicting things about being commissioned right after camp vs Oct vs Dec). Also how would I go about reaching out to the units in my area/asking if they have vacancy for the MOS I want? Is there an official process or informal networking?

Hello. I’m coming to Reddit because I am out of options. I’ve been dealing with disenrollment from my ROTC battalion since January. The cause is a failure to adapt because I haven’t attempted the CWST yet. I was a junior at the time of the disenrollment and am going into my senior year. I’ve been looking for help for this because I feel like the reason is very minuscule and doesn’t warrant me getting kicked out. I pass my AFTs, my grades are good in both ROTC and school, and I go to every event since I’m contracted. I have the minute man scholarship, as well, so I’m in the Reserves. I’ve reached out to the people in my unit, but no one knows anything. They act like stuff pertaining to ROTC is foreign and no one seems to know anything or point me in the right direction. I’ve called Fort Knox and either the phone doesn’t even ring, or I get through and manage to talk to someone and  never hear anything back. The same thing happens with legal. I even drove up to these offices and either no one’s there cuz everyone’s TPU and doesn’t want to hep until they get there for drill, or the people there for me phone numbers to call and the loop continues. I’m so tired of this. I’ve been fighting it for 6 months now and have gotten no where. I already had my hearing. I brought receipts for everything, including swimming lessons receipts to show that I’ve been putting in the effort. I brought everything that shows I’ve been working towards the claims they used to disenroll me, yet they only took a day to say that they don’t recommend me for retention because I “broke my contract with not attempting the CWST.” I still have until my senior year to commission so I don’t understand why they’re doing all of this or going this far. I’ve never had any attitude problems or not gotten along with my peers. I’ve done everything they asked me to do, and yet I’m still getting kicked out over something as minute as this. If I don’t get retained, I have to start over and go to basic training and pay back $30,000. I already submitted my appeal, so I don’t know what else I can do to get this to stop or change. So that’s why I’m here. If you know anything or anyone I can contact to help, please let me know. I really don’t need the snarky, rude, or smart ass comments so if you know you can’t contribute anything, please don’t comment. Please help. 

Weird question, I know. Most people want an earlier BOLC. Is it possible to request a later BOLC? I know most bolcs are backed up anyway but just curious. And if im given an early bolc, can i trade it for a later one?

I’m in the national guard, going to college and planning on rotc. What should I expect out of already have being enlisted while in rotc?

I was wondering if I should expect to have a consultation with Civ Team regarding my range of motion, similar to how applicants with anxiety may be evaluated by a psychiatrist. Do the reports from an orthopedic surgeon, physical therapist, MRI, and

the rest of the medical documentation typically provide enough information for them to make a yes/no decision, or were you asked to undergo any additional evaluations?

For context, I dislocated my shoulder about seven months ago and had it reduced within an hour. I attended physical therapy for approximately five months and regained essentially full range of motion. I have not experienced any additional dislocations or subluxations since the initial injury, and I also participated in our fall FTX, all labs, and MS classes. I'm currently waiting on my MRI results so I can submit my final packet to DoDMERB.

I have already taken and passed the AFT, so the waiver is the only remaining requirement. I'm trying to get a better understanding of the typical timeline because I'll be studying abroad for the semester and need to know whether I should expect to be available for any additional evaluations.

I'm not looking for a definitive answer, rather just trying to understand what others have experienced so I can decide whether I need to reconsider my study abroad plans.

Hello, I am currently enlisted in the reserves and looking to switch to active duty as an officer.

I went to college for two years right out of high school and have about 60 credits. However I tanked my GPA quite a bit before dropping out, I don’t remember the exact number but it’s around a 2.3. I was a straight A student in high school and am confident I can receive high grades going forward.

This was about 6 years ago now and I’m looking to join my local colleges ROTC program, the man I spoke with said to go active duty I’ll need at least a 3.0 by the end of my “junior” year to be considered for active duty. My PT score is high (492 AFT) and feel I can score well on other aspects they may take into consideration, however I’m not sure if it’s possible to raise my GPA high enough within 1 year to 3.0.

Is there any chance of going through and getting an active duty slot, or is there any other route that may work better? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone have any insight to the statistics of CST scoring? I would love to see a breakdown with mean and standard deviation and stuff to see how people are doing.

I'm an MS2 this year. I came back from an injury I sustained during my MS1 year that kept me from participating in physical training for the latter part of the spring semester. Before the injury, I scored a 475/500 on the AFT during the fall.

This summer, I had to take the AFT early so I could contract on time for administrative reasons I'd rather not get into. I ended up scoring a 363/500. I passed... and it's a barrier for contracting passed, but it's obviously not the score I wanted. Unfortunately, this is also the AFT score that will be used for my semester evaluation.

I want to compete for an Army Cyber Institute internship and other cybersecurity internships, and ultimately branch Active Duty Cyber. I know physical fitness is highly valued, not only in my ROTC program but throughout the Army, so I'm concerned about how this score may affect my competitiveness.

Does anyone know how many OML points we get for CTLT/Army Schools/Internships?

I looked at the policy letter and didn’t see anything there. I also asked the presenters here at the CST after the OML Brief (Out-processing) but was never given a clear answer, only that they would be listed under the “Language and Cultural Experiences.”

Please only serious and helpful replies!!!!! I just got dropped from CST after failing the pushups on my AFT. From what I heard, over 50 people from 9th Regiment were sent home just because of the AFT. I’m hoping someone from an earlier regiment has already gone through this.
If you were dropped before 9th Reg (or know someone who was), what happened afterward?

What kinds of questions did they ask on the board?

How long did it take to get the board’s decision back?

Were you retained in ROTC?

Were you able to attend CST again the following summer?

Did anyone stay in ROTC after failing the AFT?

I’m already enlisted in the Army National Guard and will be going the SMP route this fall. I’ll be stacking the Pell Grant, Chapter 1606 GI Bill, ANGEAP, ROTC stipend, and SMP drill pay.
For those of you doing something similar, about how much are you bring in each month? Do you still work a full-time or part-time job, or are the benefits enough to live on as a college student? Just curious what everyone’s experience has been.

In short, I can't afford college anymore and need to join the army as soon as I can to afford college, but I need to continue my bachelor's. I was going to wait until my second year to do it in December, but I think I need to do SMP. I want to do SMP and continue Army ROTC as an MS2 and continue my bachelor's. My end goal is using army to pay for med school. All this considered, how can i make this smp program possible and what can i do to make this happen? i know i will lose a semester, but will come back for spring 2027.

I have not yet started my branch interviews because my Battalion Commander had told me not to until next summer since I will be an end of camp commission. As of last night he emailed all end of camp commission cadets and told us to complete our branch interviews this summer instead, and that we have until the end of August to do so. I feel unprepared because I was expecting to do this next summer. Are the branch interviews live, or a mix of written and recorded videos? Do I dress in business or OCP’s? Any additional advice is appreciated.
