Sorry folks. No more "We need them now more than ever" Posts.

Since this is becoming a regular occurrence on r/RATM, we will delete any posts begging for the band to reunite and play shows.

Look... we get it. These are divisive times but the band has shown no movement to get back together. Zack's lyrics from 25+ years ago remain relevant today, but he and his bandmates are only the messengers. You must be the change. Get out there. Advocate for people's rights and freedoms. Whatever you do, please stay safe.

Thanks.

Cover Ratm on an Acoustic Guitar

I'm a huge fan of the guitar playing of Tom Morello. I tested some of his riffs on a standard tuned acoustic guitar. If you're curious how some ratm riffs sound on an Acoustic here is the video

https://youtu.be/b_GVydLFK2I

what do you think? can these riffs be played also unplugged or do they come to life only with a distorted guitar?

I am on the hunt for a rage against the machine long sleeve preferably and preferably bootleg.
Here are a bunch of t shirts I no longer wear or bought to flip etc.
I am willing to trade heavily in your favour. Willing to drive and meet in person in the UK for the right trade.
Willing to add cash to a bundle also.

Question The Old Rage Message Board

I'm 40 years old now and I was wondering if anyone on here was also part of their Message Board community before it was shut down by the Secret Service post 9/11. I was a 14 year old kid reading Bill O'Reilly and living in South Carolina with a screenname Capitalist for life. I'm a hardcore leftist now. I was just curious if anyone on here was active in the late 90s or early 2000s. I still remember a handful of names of people I used to argue with like new African Panther and freedom flyer.

Chicago Sun Times article on Tom's Mother

Wanted to share this because I think it's a very good article.

“My mom led a humble yet powerfully impactful life, always siding with the underdog, always fearlessly speaking out against racism, intolerance, and injustice,” Tom Morello told the Sun-Times Tuesday.

“In the immediate aftermath of her passing, I am just fully realizing the global impact of her life and example. I’ve heard from Afghanistan refugees and former heads of state, from the United Mine Workers and Twisted Sister. Her life’s example of integrity, righteousness and humanity has been far reaching,” he said.

Article Debut album review - Metall Hammer (Germany): Nov 1992

Rough DeepL translation:

“‘Motherfucker!’ Zack De La Roche, singer of this new band from ‘Los Angeles,’ isn’t afraid to get a little offensive either. It’s doubtful, however, that he’ll receive the same media buzz as Prince did recently with his single ‘Sexy Motherfucker.’ Nevertheless, the machine rebels have already received quite a bit of early acclaim, and it was hardly a coincidence that the band was recently on tour in our part of the world with their label mates Suicidal Tendencies. Without getting into Sony Music’s clever marketing tactics, the quartet’s debut has turned out to be quite acceptable. And why not?

Rage Against the Machine makes no secret of the influences on their style. It’s teeming with nods to Living Colour, Primus, and Heads Up-style flourishes, though these find themselves in a significantly darker, even more frustration-laden setting. I find guitarist Tom Morello’s lively, energetic playing to be extremely interesting; it serves the songs well, yet is still distinctive enough. All in all, RATM deserve a solid B+.

Question Any info about this hype sticker on some copies of the OG US vinyl pressings of RATM's self titled?

Post image

Trying to find more info about these "Don't Kill For Bush" hype stickers that were placed on some copies of the original vinyl release of the self titled album. Is it rare? Did only US copies have them? Etc.

Also long shot but if anyone has a copy with the sticker still intact for sale please message me as I am interested in buying one!

Tried googling but couldn't find anything.

Here's the link to the discogs page as well: https://www.discogs.com/release/367339-Rage-Against-The-Machine-Rage-Against-The-Machine

Thanks in advance!

In 2025 Lego made a set recreating the image 'Love' by Robert Indiana, and when I saw it I knew what needed to be done. I've designed the cover of Renegades, free instructions are available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-269321/enfurnoh/rage-rage-against-the-machine-renegades/#details

Kind of pissed we don’t have a PSA tour concert movie at this point.

As a huge RATM fan since the early days, I know they don’t owe us anything. I’ve grown accustomed to not *expecting* anything and being happy with what we get, but I’m honestly surprised and frustrated that they haven’t put out a full release of the concert footage from the PSA tour. Clearly Hate5Six has some incredible footage that we’ve seen in short clips on their social media. It would make sense to do a full blu ray/streaming concert movie, or just an upload onto YouTube. The fact that 38 planned shows were cancelled, so many people who bought tickets and got their hopes up but were never able to see the tour, to me seems like an obvious opportunity to at least release the concert footage for those folks. I get it, we’re almost certainly never getting new shows let alone new music, at least release this.

2022 Tour Four Years Ago Today - First Show Of PSA Tour

Post image

I am a huge fan of many bands and Rage is certainly one of them.

This show was such a triumph. I remember making friends with a woman and her daughter in the seats next to me, there was this nervous excitement beforehand amongst us and the people around us, just knowing the anticipation and what a momentous occasion it was. Sure enough, they came out and it was the most electric I’d personally witnessed a rock concert crowd…since the last show they played at L.A. Rising in 2011.

It’s also such a tragedy that this ended up being the only full show that Zack got to perform upright. Dude was in absolute fighting shape and clearly raring to get on with it after training for a few years and having to sit through all the delays.

The footage is of course available online. Check out the leap he does at the first “Your Anger Is A GIFT” and remind yourself that he was 52 and 70 minutes into a performance.

I took Amtrak to Chicago and saw the next performance where he hurt himself, and two of the MSG shows the following month. I don’t think there’s ever been another rock frontman with the ability to command a crowd with equal force even if they’re sitting down. I saw Axl on Dave Grohl’s throne in 2016 and it was amazing, and so was Dave Grohl in that situation, but this was something else entirely.

Being from the L.A. area, I’ve had the privilege of seeing some pretty iconic Rage shows - the last Grand Olympic show in 2000, the first show back at Coachella in 2007, and others. I’m not saying “we need Rage back” in the political sense as their message is out there and I don’t think live concerts are gonna convert anyone (and I don’t want to violate forum rules), but, so long as they’re all still alive, I *hope* everyone who wants a chance to see them perform while it’s still possible gets the opportunity. I’ve pretty much seen them all at this point, and a more powerful live rock band does not exist.

Do you consider Rage Against the Machine a metal band?

So, I’m currently working on a Top 100 Heavy Metal Guitarists list. I’m trying to think about where I may put Tom Morello. One thing that I’m not certain on though is the fact I never see him ranked on any other greatest heavy metal guitarists of all lists. Yet, he’s always ranked high on general/all genres greatest guitarists lists. Why is this? Is RATM not metal?

Question Worth listing?

Transparency: I do NOT have the flyer (shown in 3rd image) from the tower records event, this is just something I found that helped me put a date on when it happened. The flyer is NOT part of the potential listing

I have an autographed copy of the self titled CD Rage Against the Machine and signed poster. This was tied to The Battle of Los Angeles release, officially released 11/02/1999. The DC promo run included the 9:30 Club show on 10/31/1999 and Tower Records in-store appearances on 11/01 and/or 11/02 in Washington, DC. I was one of the fans that lined up at Tower Records at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave six hours before Rage’s scheduled midnight appearance.

I’m thinking about selling it and wanted to ask if the community thinks there might be in folks interested in purchasing.

What’s primarily included:
- Autographed Rage Against the Machine self-titled CD (framed as seen in image)
- Signed “Nuns with Guns” Rage Against the Machine poster (not shown here, gotta find it and take pictures)

These items have been in my possession since the signing and were not purchased secondhand. They have been stored/displayed as personal collection pieces. Condition is shown in photos.

Thoughts on if it’s worth listing?

Finally found my self titled cd

When I was a little kid ( 1-3 years old) I used to steal my aunts custom CD, which I remember had killing in the name on it. I finally found it today, and turns out it had the entire self titled on it, which is amazing because that’s my favourite album of rage. They are one of the bands I’ve always liked and had on my playlist , even before I listened to metal, so it’s really cool I found a good memory of mine
