On Monday this week, a dear friend of mine passed away. He had a very nasty motorcycle accident on Sunday and brain damage was beyond medical possibilities. I found out on Tuesday, when another friend of us sent me wake the burial details.
We drifted apart some time ago because I helped him buy his dream bike, and instead of keeping to observe the debt installments, on January he co founded a biker club, where he got a biker girl and spared no cent in living the best life with her these very last months while I compiled debt due interests and burned away my 12 year hard worked credit score for the trust I had in him.
I felt great pain with his demise, for he had been to me, besides a hideously unwise money investment, a mentor in our craft (screen printing), a shield in a horrible work environment, a great food taster (I used to cook for him each Friday for his mentorship), and overall a nice, kindly person in a highly troubled city.
Then it came the guilt for providing him the means for his end, yet the bike gave him great happiness for almost two years, other job opportunities outside factory related, this club he created, and so on. His family acknowledged, and I agree with them, that he went away plentiful, realized, satisfied with the life he had.
Any given number of what-ifs came after: what-if I forcefully took the bike from him months ago (that would certainly had destroyed him in life, just thinking about it always stopped my hand), what-if I just left him have it so we could enjoy more meals together, what-if I joined the bikers, what-if I checked on him a day before the crash on Tarot, what-if I found out when he was in the hospital what could my Reiki do, and so on. I had come to accept I'm no Dr. Strange and Marvel occurrences are without reach. Then tears came oriented at his youth, his potential, and so on, sometimes iterating each previous theme with another.
I had much of the rational, mental, thinking about process digested by Thursday, yet my body somehow refuses to accept the loss. Vicious, yet short panic attacks happened to me about 3 or 4 times a day up to Friday, for yesterday were only 2. Even while driving myself. As far as today, it goes 0, luckily it stays this way for my throat already hurts much. This besides occasional weeping which I can still take if it comes.
From Tuesday on, this is where magic starts anyway, I started a novena de velas to check everything it's ok with him on the other site. Well first two days, it looks like he was kicking around everything, flame tingling very aggressively, as if wind taking his photo banner with him at the burial and apparently messing around with my bike's lights was not enough. This last I know it was him, because I read to him the future of his family (they're gonna be ok, will not endure any form of scarcity), and then I took an extra card regarding my lights and it was a Knight of Cups, which suits him in many ways. Bike messing around is also his thing for he was a self taught mechanic. So I scolded him for that, haha, and lights and my bike overall were great from that night on, beyond their regular function.
On each daily candle I light for him, I update him on his family, for I saw and talked to his parents and some of his siblings on the burial and the three-day church service they held for him, we talked about the money issue and he stopped rave tingling the flame when I forgave the debt and acknowledged his last months' happiness so we both can transcend any form of residual guilt, and told him yesterday how fun was to ride with his bikers while going to his home after last church service, finally being able to feel what he enjoyed so much this year. Still not joining the club anyways, they may enlarge my own native recklessness.
Flame is peaceful last two days, growing tall and tingling playfully sometimes. I know religion is the poor man's choice for magicians, yet I'm under leveled and under skilled to perform stuff like the Death Vision, like... still practicing the M1L3 apprentice exercises. I gave a quick look to some material around just to understand the death processes, not with the intention to go beyond my current practices:
- Magic of the North Gate was greatly insightful with the Recently Dead chapter.
- The Magical Knowledge Trilogy vol 2 completed the reading and I had enough restrain to not try around these or the Quareia Initiate techniques, luckily.
- The LXXXI Deck, which I also have the restrain to not use in readings yet, gave me some visuals which I found soothing somehow.
That just for knowledge and understanding some things, not practice. For practice I will keep the novena I started, it end around Wednesday this week, and take the priest indication to dedicate every Sunday mass to him for the remainder of the year. While Catholic mass looks like a slow paced Zumba class for me, this is the spiritual practice my friend knew in life so I think any help he may need, he may receive this way. Also promised to visit his grave on special days. And let him know that he can ask anything he requires, to check on his family or whatever through my dreams, my Tarot or Mystagogus card readings, whispering (as I have a bit of clariaudience) or anything that doesn't involve electrical malfunctions, if possible.
I'm at the end of my current ability, not sure if I could do more, or if I should. I tended the living in my life too these days, joined my students celebrating their college admission tests success, my cousin struggling with some late homework, another group of friends celebrating a messy, unfair trial's positive end, and doing some home repairs. I guess I need to take some M1L7 salt baths soon too, maybe after the novena's end.
