The last season was trash and this one isn't smelling any better. I miss the field trips, the insp, the sketching, trips to Mood, getting to follow the designers in the creative process, problem solving, interactions with each other and the mentor, etc... None of which this incarnation has at all. Ii would have e rather seen PR end thn die this painful death. I am amazed Christian agreed to put his name anywhere near this disaster.

this show didn’t promise “fame” it just promised money to start your business and visibility . the rest is ‘Up to you.’

with that being said, because of the stigma associated with reality television,

has it actually hurt the trajectory of any of the participants? because the format of the original show seems to have helped a lot of them. even if they “lost”

but now…..

I feel like this season and the last are such garbage that it actually might be hurting the people involved in their respective business.

I was struggling to find a reason why you would wanna be part of the show seeing as how they have completely ruined it.

This might have been posted already and if so, feel free to delete. But it seems utterly pointless to cast 22 contestants if you’re going to immediately eliminate 6 of them in the first episode and 5 in the second.

I’ve felt this way before with other reality shows when they do big eliminations. It seems wasteful almost.

Perhaps there is some drama associated with eliminating several people 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Who are you taking if the three past designer judges are given a PR challenge? You can pick the challenge (RTW, unconventional, red carpet, etc).

All three are skilled sewers, and they’re doing it on their own.

is it me or is PR kinda dead? I used to like the show... but bringing back Tyra was cringe as is, but with all the heavy eliminations... seems less about fashion and more about the drama. I like a healthier mix. Is Next in Fashion still a thing?

Watching Project Runway tonight and got unexpectedly nostalgic.

I'll just say there is NOTHING more "mid-2000s elder millennial art kid" than making seasons 1 & 2 of Project Runway your entire personality.

Tbh, for me, it’s more than just nostalgia.

I felt pretty alone as the ✨weird creative kid ✨ in high school. Project Runway (and the online communities around it) was one of the first places that made me think, "Oh... my people exist. I just haven't met them yet." It made art school feel like a real place where I might actually belong. I did end up studying Illustration in college, and continue to grow within an always-evolving creative community.

Curious if anyone else experienced the show that way, or if I'm just romanticizing it twenty years later.

Just finished my rewatch through season 21, I just have a few all stars seasons to finish.

Has there been a season where someone has underperformed so much during the season (no wins, very few high scores) and gone on to win the whole thing like VeeJay did?

My rewatch has taken forever so I’m kind of drawing a blank.

I’m new to PR and started watching S22 and S9 at the same time (S9 I’m binging). I watched the first ep of S22 before watching anything else and thought that it was strange that a lot of the contestants have already designed in major ways (I think someone said she designed for Paris fashion week, many of them have designed stuff for big celebrities, the old guy has had a design career since the 90’s), but thought maybe that was the norm. Watching S9, no one so far has brought up success or accomplishments on the same level as the S22 contestants and they def seem more knowledge hungry.

I don’t know much about the industry and haven’t watched the other seasons but do the S22 contestants seem already pretty successful?? Like I want to watch people who need a big break

Not every show needs to be a dramatic reality tv style show. The concept of coming on project runway to have fellow contestants and eliminated contestants decide if I stay or go instead of the ACTUAL fashion professionals makes zero sense. I hate the forced drama and twists and cliffhangers at the end of every episode. Pls bring back REGULAR project runway.

I'm just kidding about the whole fight me part, lol... but I DO wholeheartedly think that 13 was the best season ever (all star seasons not included).

Season 13 was an absolute powerhouse of pure talent, and a rollercoaster of drama right from the start.

The tension peaked very early on with Sandhya and the bullying allegations (with some referring to her as a "professional victim").

I know Sandhya came here from a completely different culture than ours, so she deserved some grace when it came to social cues.

While she seemed like a genuinely lovely person... she may have bitten off a bit more than she could chew, as she seemed far too sensitive for this particular show (while also being blissfully unaware of what an intense, frenzied, and hyper-competitive environment PR is).

That's all I'll mention that isn't competition related.

The workroom was a constant pressure cooker environment, and this was a season where everyone kept everyone else on their toes... and on edge.

There was the infamous "Char elimination" scandal, where Tim had to use his Tim Gunn Save to bring her back after the judges made a wildly unpopular call.

There was the ongoing "mean girl", passive aggressive friction surrounding Korina, who totally spiraled after losing a high stakes face off to Char, and ended up exiting the show absolutely radiating in bitter, sore loser energy (she was fun to hate).

I loved the American Girl Doll challenge, as my daughter was about the age when she was first discovering American Girl Dolls, and I remember her begging me to buy her one after we watched this episode together.

She ended up getting two of them, as her grandmother's got together and each bought her one (she's twenty years old now, and she still has those dolls up on her shelf in her room, lol (I don't think she'll ever get rid of them though, as both grandma's have passed away now, and they remind her of them).

Saving the best for last -- my two hearts, Sean and Kini. 🥰

I mean, what can we say?
Sean and Kini basically rewrote fashion history there.

Sean ultimately snatched the win at fashion week with his gorgeous fringe collection, leaving Kini's unmatched tailoring and sewing speed, a well as Amanda's bohemian vibe in second and third (big love to Char, too!).

Even though I was team Kini all the way, I honestly wasn't upset at all that Sean took the crown (I WAS upset that Amanda took 2nd place over Kini, though).

All in all, I don’t think I’ve ever walked away from a season feeling as inspired, satisfied and content with how it all turned out, as Season 13.

It was truly a masterpiece of triumphant fashion -- wish I could've added more than twenty photos.

Which only makes the most recent seasons so depressing and disheartening... and I’m afraid we’ll never get a lightning in a bottle season like this one, ever again. 🥺

I just finished watching season 18 and I like the challenges better than season 17 but I really couldn’t stand Brittany or Delvin and how dismissive and rude they were to Nancy. They were constantly acting like they were the best designers and that Nancy was the worst one there, but she was really talented and very sweet. She always encouraged her fellow contestants. Geoffrey did deserve to win. His designs were wonderful. My favorite designers were Nancy, Marquise, ShaVi, Cheleea & Daeyoung! If they still had the reunion episode Delvin and Brittany would have been read to filth! I think my favorite season out of the seasons that Heidi and Tim Gunn weren’t involved with the show are seasons 17 and 20! i’m not surprised that Brittany limits her comments on her Instagram posts!

(Also, I first say that this is all just my ramblings and I mean no disrespect to the competitors. The producers probably had a hand in exaggerating drama)

As someone who is pretty new to project runway, I have watched season nine for the first time. Oh. My. GODDDD. I despiseeee half the contestants. They’re so rude and annoying. To see if anyone shared this sentiment, I decided to search the Redditsss to join some discussions, but all I seem to find is people hating on Anya’s win. I adoreeee Anya. She’s so sweet. I’m not upset she won, but it feels like she only won because she was the judges’ and producers’ favorite. Anya was and is an amazing fashionista but it feels like critiques given to the other contestants were ignored for her. All the dresses were basically the same in different colors and fabrics. If this was anyone else, they’d be told to get out of their comfort zone. On the other hand, Anya is veryyy impressive. For someone who had been sewing for less than five months, her designs were GORGEOUS and she doesn’t get enough credit for making a whole dress for less than twenty dollars and WINING.

With Anya aside, what I AM upset about is Joshua freaking McKinley. HOW DID HE GET RUNNER UP WITH NEON AND PLASTIC PAJAMAS. One of his final outfits was quite literally boxers and a shirt which was deemed innovative and fashionable. Nuh uh. I could find something better in an elementary school lost and found. His colored trash bags and deflated balloons landed him above VIKTOR???? I didn’t like Viktor Luna at the beginning, but his personality and style grew on me. Viktor incorporated his memories and various styles into his line. Some outfits even had GLASS. STUNNING. But the judges began to bitch about how he used a lot of transparent fabric. AT LEAST HIS LOOKED LIKE A PART OF THE OUTFIT AND NOT A CONE OF SHAME. Then they threw a fit over how there were two distinct styles in the line. Those two went together splendidly. Meanwhile, barely any of Joshua’s were cohesive. Half were neon while half were black rubber.

I don’t like Laura’s personality. She was nosey and over confident, but even I can tell she was ROBBED. The poor girl was slipped up and the chose Kimberly over here. Don’t be me wrong, I loved Kimberly so much. She had so much passion and I rooted for her since the beginning. Still, her qualifier outfits were doo doo. Her finalist outfit gave her a comeback but was unfortunately not winner material.

Away from the finals, the other contestants were RUDE. Bert was a little tyrant, Anthony Ryan was arrogant, Olivier (as much as I love him) couldn’t accept feedback, and all these also apply to FREAKING JOSHUA MCKINLEY.

Then those CHALLENGES. Those poor band members. Olivier was so rude to them and everyone was complaining about making men’s clothes. The they put the models in stilts and expect them to not look “circus-y”?? Also the group challenges drove me crazy. Beet and Joshua need to pull their big boy panties up and communicate with people.

Occasionally, I go back and rewatch the two seasons they shot of Project Runway Junior, because those kids were SO TALENTED. How fun would it be to bring them all back, now 10 years later, for reunion seasons of Project Runway IN THE TRADITIONAL FORMAT?!

Not understanding why eliminated contestants have the power to save someone?? Based on what they delivered in Episode 1 none of them should have a say on who to save respectfully.

I’m a new-ish watcher. I watched season 17, part of season 18, and now seasons 19-22. I agree with mostly all the criticisms of the ABC-era format, but there’s one residual thing I’m wondering: Was it always this mean between contestants? Apologies if this has been rehashed a million times—most of what I see is criticisms of producers/judges.

I know there have always been a few snide comments like “I don’t know what he’s doing” or “My look is better than hers” — and there usually are one or two strong personalities in the group. But after watching last week’s episode, it felt like nearly all of the contestants said something downright mean-spirited or nasty about someone else’s design. I didn’t care for looks many either, but I can’t see myself absolutely trashing something like they did. I noticed this last season too.

Is this just another bad addition to the new format? Or is this relatively normal (and I just wasn’t here, so I wouldn’t know)?

No shade she just picked a wonderfull fabric. The Juxtaposition of the two laces in theses colors looks so good but there was not much construction there.

She created cutout on the top half and didn’t even touched that bottom skirt. Just a tube piece of fabric hanging. And the styling…the chunky versace heels not letting the dress flow 😬. I know im in the minority here but they clearly put her in the top based on that episode storyline, in which she pivoted last minute and somehow did good.

The dress was good yeah…but there’s not much there in construction. We need a costume maker or a couturier on that damn panel. That panel is full of middle aged women who works in fashion but don’t make fashion, obviously they would love theses types of Marchesa dresses.

The first 20 seasons are all on Peacock. So I'm starting at the beginning yet again!
