Just curious, are staff allowed to vape inside the establishment you’re in?

We used to be allowed but someone decided it was a grand idea to blow vape smoke at the governor on Main Street… ruining it for us all.

I am having my face to face verification next week and since I live in a shared apartment I couldn't send my utility bill, I sent my P-60 rather. My agency says they can sign it for me but they don't have a stamp. I am worried if its not stamped it might be rejected. Any advice from anyone who has used a P-60 for it before?

Appreciate it can differ per establishment!

Hello all just like many of you im currently on 24 weeks of pec and counting. However today I came across this discussion in parliament which may answer some questions for you lot.

With this it explains how theres currently 15,000 people stuck in limbo with pecs and other stages from conditional offer, as of may 2026. This has helped me understand it and made me slightly feel better. Its not ideal at all I wont lie and I wont say im haply however this is the most clarity ive har since starting the checks. A lot more then I get from emailing or calling recruitment.

Hi guys, I got my start date, it’s less than a month away, but they’re still running checks on me? Does anyone know why that is and if they could pull my offer?
I’ve signed my contract and I’m moving to the other side of the country for this job.
All of these checks would have been done when I applied, and my security clearance has been complete.
Can anyone give me some insight as to why they’re still running checks when I have a start date?

Hi, could anyone advise me as I’m stressing myself out. I have my start date phone call booked for the coming Tuesday 28th July. I have a pre booked holiday for 25th October that was booked and paid for last year before I even applied. I have made them aware of this, via email and phone call numerous times through the process.
What are the chances of the them pulling my offer and withdrawing me?

anyone successfully passed recently? I'm on week 31 and starting to lose hope, feel like I'm never gunna hear anything at this point & considering withdrawing my application. Do you find there’s a lot of politics in your prison and plenty of backstabbing? I’ve never experienced anything like it before.

I also find that favouritism is rife when it comes to things like where people are assigned to work, leaving early, and other perks.

Does anyone know if a DBS check was conducted when you applied for Scientific Jobs in England and Wales? Even if your role had no contact with Vulnerable People and/or Children in any respect?

I've heard conflicting reports that many employers simply don't even bother running checks. I have a family member who has just received a suspended sentence and he's looking to move on with his life.

I have recently applied for the role of an operations officer within the Scottish prison service and was looking for 1) more information on the real day-to-day life within this role 2) views and experience of the sps as an employer, and how it is to work at the main establishments within 30 mile radious of Glasgow ( barlinne, Low moss ect) 3) what level of training do operations officers recevive? and what PPE equipment are they trained in and issued 4) What does a realistic career progression look like? Are operations officers eligible for public order training? Joining the tornado and national response teams(or what the Scottish equivalent is), dog handling?
