I'll be honest, I'm surprised this show has a 7.9 rating on imdb. I didnt hate the show. But, id probably give it a 6.

It may be the show with the most plot convenient writing that i've ever seen.

Cassidy and the sun, in insane. I get it, its a pain in the ass for a tv show to have a character that cant be in the sun. But he's vampire. Just make him a magical ring, like in Vampire Diaries. That would have been better, than using an umbrella, where his hands were in the sun, almost every scene.
Not to mention the countless times we literally see sunlight on his face, while he is in the car or indoors.
And lets not forget when the archangel (who we arent even told is an archangel) flies Cass right out of the dungeon and into the sky on a bright ass sunny day. How did Cass not immediately burst into flames? At least tell us that, somehow the angel protected him with its wings or something. But no. Cass was flown into the sun, and all that happened is that his hair turned blonde.
What was up with Tulip asking him about having fangs in season 1? he says that he doesnt have any, only for him to then have them at the end of season 2.

Season 1 was, for the most part, pointless. and the rest of the seasons completely contradict everything that happened in season 1.
When Jesse first meets the angels, finds out about gensis, and is told that Cassidy is a vampire. he is surprised and doesnt believe them. Like he is shocked that angels/monsters exist.
But then in season 3, we find out that he grew up around voodoo, souls, and monsters. They wrote him as naive towards the supernatural. When that is clearly not the case.
Not to mention that grandma not only knows what Genisis is, when (according to season 1) the majority of entities dont know it exists, even most angels. But she also has a direct line to Satan? Jesse was an integral part of her operation. He must have known about all this stuff too.

What happened to seraphim angels? warrior angels shown in season 1, then never heard from again.

How does the show never tell us that the Saints weapons were made from the Angel of Death's blade? And that once fired, they cant miss. And that they can kill anything. This was a huge plot hole. I had to look it up to read the comic book history to understand why they were special.

Eugene was sent to hell, alive. So it makes sense to me that he can escape hell in his body, because his soul never left it. But Hitler? he died. he was just a soul. So why would he have a body when he escaped?

If the real Jesus can come down to earth at any point. Why even bother with Humperdoo? If you want/need a messiah. Just use the OG one.
By the end, there is an answer. Because God liked him and didnt approve of the OG Jesus. But the grail? whats their excuse?
I dont know. it feels like the show introduces og jesus, just to have him break dance and fight hitler.

Eugene's entire arch seemed pointless. And it always seemed out of character for Jesse to never really even try to get him out of hell.

There are more inconsistencies. But i really dont feel like ranting anymore.

Was the show better for people who read the comics? was it worse?

Do the comics make more sense?

I genuinely find it hard to watch. Every color is crushed, everything is awful. Seems like cheap digital acquisition and then bad grading on top. The writing and all else seems fantastic! Want to love it.

Have the voice of God?

So here are my questions.

The Saint of Killers seems to be, in addition to being the biggest bad ass on the show, more powerful than God and Jesse/Genesis. But if God created him, how could he be more powerful than God?

Same question for Genesis. How can something that is the creation of 2 of God's creations (angel/Seraphim and a demon) be more powerful than God himself?

Is The Saint of Killers the same thing as The Grim Reaper?

How could The Saint of Killers/ANYTHING kill God, when god is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent?

If God is to blame for all the evils in the world, the wars, the famine, the natural disasters, the creation of everything and the ability to "unmake" everything, how can he possibly die?

If the war was originally waged against heaven because the angels found it appalling that God would create human beings knowing that they would suffer and die, that indicates that they had good in their heart. So how did they end up turning into sadistic demons who torture people forever in hell? And if God is evil, why is it that going to heaven is still an eternal reward? In fact, why would heaven even exist if God hated humans and planned to commit omnicide (is that the right word for ending all life as we know it?) via an apocalyptic event?

Besides being funny that Mark Harelick plays himself playing God, what was really the point of having him pretend to be God? No one on earth would have any clue what God looked like, so why did they need to cast an actor that looks just like him? And why would they need to murder him? It isn't like anyone on earth, including Mark Harelick, would believe that he was playing God for some angels to ease the minds of people on earth when they could have put anybody on a throne and humans would have believed it was God?

What was the point of the angels having a phone to call God when they knew he wasn't there, and that if they called, they would just be getting a pre recorded video if Mark Harelick pretending to be God? Was it just to create a shocking ending/cliffhanger?

I have 66 comic books from the base series & 8 comic books from the special/mini-series for a total of 74 comic books. but, according to Wikipedia there should be 9 special/mini-series making it a total of 75 comic books but I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing? can someone point me in the right direction for a checklist???

The ending wasn’t bad. I loved every season. The season 4 finale though… I just feel like it was strange for them to go through all that shit and a two year time jump for a “come sit in this law chair and chat.”

Finished the comics a couple days ago and had watched the show ages ago but never finished. Taking another crack at it right now. I’m curious what the consensus on the show from the comic fans is. There’s major differences obviously I’m personally trying to separate the show as its own thing than an adaptation. But it is hard when all the characters are there in the flesh. I really liked the first season as its own ‘origin’ thing.
