JK followed up her attack on Amnesty by sharing some upskirt pictures of other people. She’s truly lost it.

10

u/redroserequiems 4h ago

Not just that, then used the tired old rape culture "She was asking for it" line. She's not a friend to rape survivors. She just wants clout.

5

u/ttw81 4h ago

she also previously advocated taking pics of possible transwomen in bathroom stalls.

-8

u/washblvd 3h ago

"Upskirt pictures."

There is a worrying contingent of redditors that don't know what a penis looks like. The picture literally only shows thigh, which is exactly what the person in question was intending, no more, no less, given their choice to wear a short skirt and fishnets.

The photo in questions has been shared for 3 years to no fuss, including by a celebrity transwoman. It's a plain angle, straight-on, from the audience shot, that is even taken from above the person, not below. The only reason it is making news is because people want to discredit Rowling, and 'no bad methods, only bad targets.'

Full thread on Bluesky here and original from twitter here
i think when Gina Martin says you upskirted someone, you probably need to reconsider your actions.

-1

u/washblvd 2h ago

But Gina Martin doesn't conclude that this was an upskirting. She doesn't say it falls under the Voyeurism Act.

The core of that thread is broad platitudes about supporting trans people, it's an activist's argument.

5

u/ConsistentScholar371 3h ago

The classic "It's her fault for dressing that way" line.

1

u/washblvd 3h ago

Again, no penis was seen. There is no fault to assign.

Do you delete any photos you've taken where cleavage is showing, as intended by the style of garment?

2

u/ConsistentScholar371 2h ago

That's not how upskirting laws work. Helpfully someone else has pointed you in the direction of a Bluesky post that goes into more detail on the matter.

0

u/washblvd 2h ago

So the woman who pushed for the law doesn't even claim that it falls under the Voyeurism Act?

-2

u/FreeSirJeffrey 3h ago

Exactly.

It was a man intentionally flashing on stage.

-7

u/FreeSirJeffrey 3h ago

Why are you lying? It wasn't an upskirting picture. Anyone who looks up the picture, or the video it came from, can see this.

Fred sat on a stage, in a miniskirt and fishnets, intentionally attempting to flash the crowd.

Whilst Fred was on stage, he was drunk, rambling about having sex with his penis, and describing his penis.

Fred also intentionally replies with pictures of himself being fellated to people on X any time he starts losing an argument. This is arguably a crime in the UK, but nothing has ever been done about it, as his "community" can do no wrong.

Fred is an exhibitionist. Fred is a freak who gets off on this type of behaviour.

So please tell me you don't agree with Fred's behaviour? If you do, you're hurting your own cause.

-2

u/Contrary_Kind 1h ago

You want transactivists not to lie? Come on, set realistic goals.

-1

u/FreeSirJeffrey 58m ago

They love to defend degenerate behaviour.

Lying is their bread and butter.

Amnesty UK needs help realizing why Rowling's anti Trans shelter was listed as gender critical?

-9

u/Flimsy-Possible4884 5h ago

It wasn't an anti trans shelter it was a female rape survivor centre... they think it's anti trans because they won't let men in the female rape survivor centre.

12

u/Kirishori 4h ago

They don't let trans women, who are women, into the womens shelter. This is not letting men into the womens shelter. Calling trans women men is wrong and makes you a frankly quite disgusting person.

5

u/Vonanonn 3h ago

Thank goodness someone said it 🙏🏻

-2

u/scabbityscab 2h ago

That's because it's a female-only service. All males are excluded regardless of how they identify.

This policy is for the benefit of rape survivors. Though I doubt you will appreciate that.

2

u/Local-Pattern795 50m ago

Would a trans man (ideally with a great big bushy beard) be allowed in?

19

u/ttw81 5h ago

you mean trans women who have been sexually assaulted?

taking HRT and having gender-affirming surgery changes your biological sex. that’s the entire point of taking/doing it, and transitioning in general. so no, many, i would even say the majority of trans women are not “biologically men.” and even if they’re pre-transition seeking help at a womens’ shelter—okay, should they turn away intersex women because they aren’t “biological women”? should they turn away women with PCOS who have facial hair and other “masculine” features? what about masc lesbians, do they need to be interrogated on their identities before they’re allowed in? do there need to be security guards at the entrances doing genital and chromosomal and hormone level inspections, would that make women who’ve been assaulted feel better? and on the flip side should a womens’ shelter accept me, a trans man who is very obviously, visibly male, who takes testosterone, just because people who don’t know anything about transitioning assume i’m still “biologically female,” would those women really feel safe around me? just think about it a little more.

downvotes but no counterpoints except “nuh uh” 🤭

1

u/usemyname88 4h ago

Thats a big wall of text only to be wrong.

No, taking HRT and having gender affirming care does not change a person's biological sex.

A single sex space is just that, a space for that sex only.

3

u/navyblueconverse 4h ago edited 4h ago

it literally, scientifically, does. but you’re not the first person to choose willful ignorance and cruelty over empathy and kindness, not every girl is a girls’ girl ┐(‘~`;)┌

1

u/InevitableGreedUK 4h ago

It "literally" does not.

partly personal experience and using my brain to puzzle out why else we would spend so much money and time fighting doctors otherwise: since i’ve been on testosterone most of my secondary sex characteristics have changed (body hair growth, fat distribution, the texture of my skin and hair, etc.), which are one part of biological sex. another part is your hormone levels, and when you take HRT those change significantly, that’s the whole point of HRT. we experience increased muscle growth, trans women experience decreased muscle growth and decreased bone density similar to cis womens’. men on average have higher rates of heart disease and blood disorders worldwide because men actually have slightly more blood than women do—when you start testosterone HRT this is something you have to look out for because your now more male body produces more blood. last part is genitalia, and trans womens’ neovaginas have a complex microbiome and PH the exact same way cis women do. i used to be a cis woman, i was married to a trans woman, it’s really not as different as people imagine. trans women on HRT even experience periods! without bleeding of course, but periods aren’t just about shedding uterine lining, they’re also about the sharp, regularly-scheduled hormone level fluctuations and all the mental and emotional symptoms associated with it. some even experience cramps which i find so interesting, human biology is awesome

one interesting link i can share is this one study showing that there are even changes in the methylation of your DNA when you take HRT—it switches to a pattern corresponding to the sex you’re transitioning to. there’s lot of information out there like this, people just have to be curious and open-minded to find it! and a lot of people assume that biological sex ends and begins at chromosomes but we didn’t know those existed for the majority of human history and still felt comfortable labeling others and ourselves as men/women.

0

u/Its_not_really 58m ago

I work in women's healthcare and I can tell you with certainty that trans women do not have periods. A period is bleeding from the uterus through the vagina. It's not moodiness or cramps. And there's a published study on neo vaginas microbiome and it's the same as penis skin or colon, It's not like a natal vagina pH. We don't need to make stuff up now.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

1

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

That's not an accurate description of how gender works.

Trans people don't "believe they are *insert sex*" they know their biological sex differs from their gender, they aren't operating under a delusion, else they wouldn't seek to use HRT to transition.

Trans people post-transition are often subject to the same kind of abuse as cis people of the same gender.

1

u/InevitableGreedUK 4h ago

That's not an accurate description of how gender works.

Yes, it is.

2

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

No, it isn't.

You can continue to be wrong, or you can look up the distinction between gender, and sex.

-1

u/usemyname88 4h ago

They literally are operating under a delusion. Just the same as an anorexic person who believes they are fat, but are in fact very much not fat.

4

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

To be clear, because your nonsense is especially frustrating, if trans people worked like anorexic people, then HRT would be pointless.

Why would a person make active efforts to make their body resemble their desired gender, if they believed it to already be the case?

Trans people do not experience delusions, they experience a persistent discomfort in a body that doesn't fit, the entire source of distress around a person pre-transition is that disconnect, the fact they are fully aware is why the transition happens in the first place.

3

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

Have you talked to any trans people to confirm this?, or are you going based on what you've heard off the internet from your own circles?

0

u/usemyname88 4h ago

No need, I already understand basic biology.

-9

u/ExternalSeat 5h ago

they can go to a different shelter. Cis Women have rights too.

12

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

Okay then, which one?

What you're advocating for is also known as segregation.

-7

u/Flimsy-Possible4884 3h ago

Yes... men and woman are segregated... there are laws stating that men can't work in certain jobs and women in others this is normal... why you acting all outraged like your not from this planet...

4

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 3h ago

Normal doesn't mean good, or correct.

-8

u/washblvd 4h ago

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

Trans activists also advocate for segregation, just based on identity, not sex.

7

u/DrummingFish 3h ago

They advocate for inclusion, not segregation. They're not trying to remove people from spaces, they're trying to be included.

0

u/mars-jupiter 3h ago

I really don't mean to sound intentionally antagonistic, but I've become quite confused about this sort of thing over the last 24 hours. Previously, I just assumed that trans people transition to the gender they feel they are because the one they were born as isn't correct. However, in a discussion about the expansion of the term genocide to include trans genocide as a real thing, I was told that it's not as simple as that. If it's the case that trans people are not some third or more category but instead are simply men and women who have just transitioned from one to the other then the use of single sex spaces would make a bit more sense.

I'm just confused as to how my new understanding of what being trans means fits in with the idea that it's not segregation? Surely the creation of a third etc 'category' here is a form of self segregation? If you were born as a man and then transitioned to a woman later in life then it makes sense why you'd want the services of a shelter for women, but if it's not as simple as belonging to one category or another then surely the people saying things like they should go to a different shelter specifically for them (or one not segregated to just women) are correct, at least in part?

6

u/DrummingFish 3h ago

Previously, I just assumed that trans people transition to the gender they feel they are because the one they were born as isn't correct.

That is correct.

However, in a discussion about the expansion of the term genocide to include trans genocide as a real thing

Why would "trans genocide" not be a real thing? It's just a descriptor for the type of persons are being genocided.

If it's the case that trans people are not some third or more category but instead are simply men and women who have just transitioned from one to the other then the use of single sex spaces would make a bit more sense.

That's the preferred outcome, that trans people are not othered and are just accepted. The same issue happened with homosexuals and black people in the last few centuries. They were othered and forced to hide it use alternate spaces just to exist.

Surely the creation of a third etc 'category' here is a form of self segregation?

No? The idea is for trans people to be just considered their identified gender, not as trans. But we have to use identifiers to differentiate between cis and trans to have certain types of conversations. Additional categories wouldn't matter if they were just accepted.

but if it's not as simple as belonging to one category or another then surely the people saying things like they should go to a different shelter specifically for them (or one not segregated to just women) are correct, at least in part?

Again, trans people want to be included in those broad categories, rather than be identifies by sub-categories. They don't want to be othered where the othering wouldn't matter.

1

u/mars-jupiter 3h ago

This is what I thought initially but someone who seemed to know what they were talking about infinitely more than I do told me otherwise so I'm more confused than ever now!

The genocide thing was because the source being discussed mentioned the expansion of the definition to include things like gender and political groups rather than just ethnic groups or race. I assumed that expansion wouldn't necessarily include trans people in general because they still belong to the groups men and women, not a separate group. I'm just very confused honestly because my previous assumptions about what it all meant and was about have been shattered!

u/scabbityscab 1h ago

It is actually more inclusive to have a female-only service provider because it means that women who otherwise wouldn't use a mixed-sex service can be accommodated.

2

u/DrummingFish 1h ago

Okay? That's not inclusivity and has nothing to do with what I said.

-1

u/scabbityscab 1h ago

It is inclusivity because overall it increases service provision and more people are included.

7

u/fenianthrowaway1 4h ago

That's just 'seperate but equal' all over again. It was discrimination then and it's discrimination now.

-9

u/ExternalSeat 4h ago

so you are fine with cis men in women's restrooms? Sex is different than Race. Unless you abolish all sex based differences in institutions you must continue to have safe spaces for cis women.

5

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 4h ago

The design of restrooms is flawed in the first place, the environment inherently renders people vulnerable regardless of sex.

Single occupancy gender neutral rooms would be superior, and then you wouldn't need to have segregated "safe spaces" (that aren't actually all that safe)

-5

u/dsanft 3h ago

The design of restrooms has been entirely uncontroversial until a 0.001% minority started getting political about them

7

u/DrummingFish 3h ago

Pretty sure those having an issue and making it political are those that have a problem with trans people in their spaces, not trans people themselves. If trans people were left alone to use the space they found comfortable then there wouldn't be an issue.

There is absolutely no provable harm with trans people using toilets that reflect their gender.

Also, that minority is currently 1%, which doesn't even include allies. You're off by 3 magnitudes.

-1

u/ConsistentScholar371 3h ago

I might be optimistic but I think they were talking about TERFs being the minority making it political.

→ More replies (0)

4

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 3h ago

I'm sure there's never been another historical case of the design of restrooms being controversial, with regards to splitting restrooms into separate facilities based on some perceived characteristic.

*cough*

"Separate but equal."

Believe it or not this is an existing and ongoing discussion that probably predates you.

2

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 3h ago

Did you reply to me and then get an auto-moderator warning?

I think that ought to be a lesson.

1

u/Vonanonn 3h ago

I beg to disagree considering the amount of men and women raped in them.

2

3

u/Embarrassed-Yard-583 3h ago

A different shelter where?

A mens shelter you mean, fuck off.

4

u/fs2222 3h ago

Wow, exact same logic as racialized water fountains!

"Black people can use a different fountain. White people have rights too."

-4

u/washblvd 3h ago

Where this argument falls apart is that trans activists want segregation...they just want to be the ones to choose the lines on which they are drawn.

2

u/soapissomuchcleaner Prefer Coffee But Fill My Cup 🫖 3h ago

No.

1

u/Ok_Preference_4703 45m ago

hi. trans guy here. no one wants segregation apart from people who have been bullied and harassed by transphobes so much theyre scared to be around them in case they get harassed. no one is advocating for segregation. I’d just like to piss in the men’s stall. fact, I’d just like to be able to piss when I’m outside my home.

2

u/Vonanonn 3h ago

It's sisterhood not cisterhood

1

u/Melodic_Till_3778 3h ago

What's the name of this different shelter?

1

u/DrummingFish 2h ago

Single-sex spaces aren't a right.

What if a different shelter doesn't exist?

-4

u/Pool_Spider 5h ago

What are they transitioning from?

10

u/ttw81 5h ago

dolphins,

should it matter if they're a woman whose been raped?

-4

u/Pool_Spider 5h ago

Dolphins can't transition into human females outside of using some kind of descriptive language to make the correlation.

It does matter. We're talking about a center that exists for females who have had their physical bodies violated in a way they didn't consent or agree to.

Your argument is that in this center for this specific purpose they still don't have the right to say no if it hurts someone elses feelings because it doesn't include them... like...

7

u/ttw81 4h ago

and a tranawoman whose been raped & violated doesn't matter?

-1

u/Pool_Spider 4h ago

Did I say that they don't matter?

7

u/Ok_Word9021 4h ago

You're saying they don't exist, which is pretty much worse

1

u/Pool_Spider 4h ago

I never said they don't exist. That's obvious, this discussion is literally happening because they do.

-2

u/Flimsy-Possible4884 3h ago

No such thing as

3

u/ttw81 3h ago

????

1

u/Technical_Fact_6873 2h ago

this is really an interesting viewpoint, because either you think that trans women are men or something to that effect and then you think that men cant be sexually assaulted or you think that they were "asking for it" just because they were trans and thus it wasnt sexual assault

either is obviously entirely wrong, but its really interesting how deep someone may go

Same amnesty that was found to be toxic, racist and use public humiliation as a tool only being discovered after 2 of its employees killed themselves? If it is that amnesty they probably shouldn't be throwing stones at a rape survivor charity just because they despise who funds it...

1

u/Ok_Preference_4703 44m ago

“this thread surely won’t be hurtful to read as a trans guy,” I said with joys.

-8

u/FreeSirJeffrey 6h ago

Based JK.

1

u/ExternalSeat 5h ago

yep. while I believe that trans people have a right to exist (JK Rowling also agrees with that statement) there are times and places where the distinctions between trans and cis women are important and necessary. Trans women are valid but they are not the same as cis women and there should be some spaces reserved for cis women.

7

u/Booster_Seat_Enjoyer 5h ago

important to mention that most rape centers accept trans women. The "if you don't like it go make your own service" people are just upset that someone did just that, and now one center exists to cater to cis women only because many victims have ptsd associated with male bodies (for some mysterious reason scientists have yet to figure out)

cis women have rights and deserve to feel safe too.

2

u/ExternalSeat 4h ago

I agree 100%. Trans women are valid but they aren't cis women. There are enough distinctions to warrant protections for cis women and a separate set of protections for trans women.

5

u/fs2222 3h ago

"Separate but equal" right?

1

u/scabbityscab 1h ago

Yes. Just like we have separate female and male provision more generally, while acknowledging that women and men are equals.

1

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 1h ago

You may or may not notice that genuine equality is still an issue that hasn't actually been solved in society.

1

u/scabbityscab 1h ago

Yes but my point is that the principle of having separate female and male provision is generally not because one group is considered lesser than the other. At least in contemporary western society, and in most circumstances.

1

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 1h ago

IMO most shelters are under provisioning for the problem anyway, a person ought to have a fully private space they don't share with anyone else unless their needs would be better met with a shared one.

It's a result of the lack of resources to properly address the problem, owing to a society that's just not built around the wide spread solving of social problems.

You wouldn't need to provision different spaces for different sexes if your provisioning was adequate in the first place.

Also why I advocate forcing businesses to move away from two gendered shared restrooms to individual enclosed restrooms, both because it outright eliminates the whole trans bathroom debate, and because when I'm shitting in public the last thing I want to hear is the guy next to me.

I also can't stand the occasional swan-necking from other men at my junk when using urinals, public toilets are hell on earth.

2

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 3h ago

What exactly are the "distinctions" that'd be relevant in a shelter?

Why are they important?

Most of the time, when I hear people spell them out loud, they're stereotypes about men transposed onto trans women.

2

u/ParanoidDroid 2h ago

So you don't have to risk situations like this happening.

And stop folks like in this image.

She also took a naked selfie in the shelter bathroom with her dick erect. Shelter itself did nothing about it. This is all just from a quick Google. You really can't imagine why women in vulnerable situations may not want to be around penis?

2

u/Kiryu-chan-fan 2h ago

Don't bother.

The person you're replying to will see exactly nothing wrong with that behaviour.

If they do they'll pretend a reasonable analogy can be drawn between what you just shared and the black man and white man not actually needing segregated toilet facilities...

0

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 1h ago

I'm glad you think that everyone is some kind of unreasonable monster, but no, that actively is unacceptable behaviour.

But it has nothing to do with the person being trans, and would be equally unacceptable if they were a cis person performing an analogous act.

2

u/scabbityscab 1h ago

But he shouldn't be in a women's shelter in the first place.

1

u/AetherinaForge 3m ago

You’re such a rat for lying saying you think trans women are valid while also calling trans women he at every opportunity

→ More replies (0)

0

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 1h ago

That's just plain old harassment, preventing trans people from entering the shelter doesn't prevent harassment inherently.

A trans person is still perfectly capable of being a bad person, independently from being trans, and cis people are equally capable of engaging in inappropriate conduct.

1

u/ParanoidDroid 1h ago edited 44m ago

Pre-op trans women are in a unique position where they can use a penis to harass women who are very likely in the shelter because of similar abuse.

Thank you for agreeing it as harassment, I wish the shelters that allowed this to happen felt the same. Neither of these women were disciplined by shelter staff.

1

u/TheMarksmanHedgehog 1h ago

If you want to get really down into the details about it, a cis woman could pull a similar stunt using a strap-on, either way it's disgusting behaviour.

Being trans doesn't make a person morally righteous inherently, but it also shouldn't be something a shelter discriminates over, as trans people experience both the same kind of violence as their cis counterparts, and wholly unique flavours aimed at the fact they're trans.

Something something "Content of their character".

1

u/ParanoidDroid 1h ago

Honestly, a cis woman can't. I say this as a survivor of sexual abuse who couldn't even look at a penis for awhile. Thankfully I did not need a shelter. A strap on is different. Perhaps others would disagree.

I will also add that a cis woman pulling a stunt like that would most likely be evicted or reprimanded. Neither of which happened in my examples. I can pull more if need be. A big reason that there is a push for cis only shelters is because such harassment happens and nothing is done about it.

There are plenty of shelters who do welcome trans women, in fact that's most of them. Cis only shelters can help avoid retraumising victims without overhead regulation.

Strap ons aren't sensate. There is no motivation. They're also incredibly awkward and good luck chasing someone in a strap 😂
