Sadness Loving Ella ❤️

I lost my baby, Ella, yesterday, 7/21/2026, horrifically and unexpectedly while she was at the vet.

I’m not ready to tell her story yet. She was only 11, the best dog, and she was taken far too soon. The pain in my heart feels like it has nowhere to go.

Reading the stories of other people, even complete strangers, somehow makes us feel a little less alone. It reminds me how vulnerable and deeply connected we all really are, even in a world that can feel so full of chaos and heartache. Crying over someone else’s loss gives my own grief somewhere to go. We carry each other’s heartbreak, if only for a moment.

So thank you to all the pets who loved us so completely. They were better than we deserved. We always knew we would probably outlive them, but loving them was worth every ounce of the pain that would someday come. And even in their passing, they bring us back to one another, reminding us that grief is something we were never meant to carry alone.

I love you, Ella. It wasn’t fair. I miss your furry little feet in my face when we slept. ❤️

Advice Wanted Lost my 2-year-old Golden Retriever a month ago and I still can’t function. How do you move forward?

,
I lost my 2-year-old Golden Retriever unexpectedly a month ago, and I still feel like my world has stopped. I live alone, and he wasn’t just a dog to me. I genuinely treated him like my child. We did everything together.
Since he passed away, I’ve lost 3 kg because I barely have an appetite. I still wake up with chest pain almost every day, and I struggle to function normally. I have other dogs, and I love and take good care of them, but my bond with him was just different. He was incredibly affectionate and always by my side. My other dogs are his best friends, but they have different personalities, and I can’t seem to connect with them in the same way.
I feel guilty for even thinking this because I do love my other dogs, but it doesn’t feel the same, and I don’t know if it ever will.

For those who have lost a soul dog or heart dog, how did you cope? Does the pain ever become manageable? Were you ever able to build a special bond with your other pets again without feeling like you were replacing the one you lost?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences because right now, I honestly feel stuck.

Rant I lost my four-year-old dog after a visit to the vet, and I still can’t believe he is gone

My four-year-old dog ate a bone and became constipated, so I took him to the vet. He was very active, frightened, and difficult to handle. The sedation did not seem to work properly, and he would not let the staff examine or touch him.
They sedated him multiple times, four or five times in total. From what I understood, at least some of those attempts were made so they could check whether his catheter was kinked. I still cannot understand why so much sedation was necessary just to check a catheter. This is one of the things that continues to trouble me, and I keep wondering whether all those additional doses were really necessary.
At some point, he regurgitated the contents of his stomach and aspirated them into his lungs. He developed aspiration pneumonia. The clinic was unable to manage him, and they sent him home even though he was clearly unwell, breathing heavily, and vomiting.
He did not sleep at all that night. The next morning, I took him to another animal hospital. They gave him IV fluids and an enema. For a short time, he seemed better and stopped vomiting, and I started to believe that he might recover.
But soon afterward, he developed sepsis because of the pneumonia and went into shock. He was struggling to breathe, and I had to make the most painful decision of my life and let him go.
He died in my arms. Blood came from his nose, and I cannot get that image out of my mind.
I took him to three different veterinarians and did everything I could to save him, but I still feel like I failed him. I cannot believe he is gone. Just last weekend, he was alive, and now my home feels completely empty without him.
I keep replaying everything that happened and wondering whether something could have been done differently. I know that letting him go ended his suffering, but the guilt, grief, and trauma are unbearable. I miss him so much, and I know I will see those hospital visits in my nightmares for a long time.

Vent Dreaming of my sweet prince!

After losing our 6 year old cat, Mr. Durk, we decided to have him cremated. We found him early in the afternoon on the 4th of July. We suspect it was a urinary blockage, but didn’t have the heart to order a necropsy for him. He was so innocent and cute, the thought of him being cut into was too much to handle at the time.

His cremation took way longer than we thought it would have, over two weeks later we finally picked up his remains. We have learned to live with it, his sister still needs us and is doing so well as a solo kitty. Bringing him home was totally unexpectedly difficult, we have never lost someone so close to us so suddenly. We have never lost a pet together.

Last night, I dreamed of him nuzzled up with his sister in a little sweet pile like they always used to. I remember petting him and watching him wiggle around and stretch, feeling his beautiful fur and looking at his beautiful green eyes. I remember sobbing, to the point where I thought I was still crying when I woke up. It was so nice to see him and experience him in this way. For those of you who have lost a furry friend, I hope you find a way to feel close to them again. It’s challenging every day, but they are closer than you think even when they aren’t around. ❤️

Sadness I lost my soul dog and I feel so empty

I lost my soul dog 2 days ago and I feel so empty. It feels like a part of me is missing. He was so young he was only 4 and I just think it’s not fair. He was the most perfect dog, so friendly and so cuddly. He was always the life of the party.

He was a frenchie and he suffered an episode of IVDD that paralyzed him in march and he had a surgery for it. He never regained function of his back legs. Since then he’s had a couple bowel issues and things like that. We were taking care of him full time but I was happy to do it I love him so much.

Then this last weekend he suffered another episode and it was heartbreaking to see. He was in so much pain so we made the decision to let him go peacefully. I couldn’t put him through any more pain and meds when I knew he hasn’t been fully himself since the first surgery. I knew it was time and I knew he was ready but it broke my heart to see him go.

Now I don’t know what to do with myself. I’m having this horrible anxious thought that his spirit is following me around and is sad I’m not able to pay attention to him. I know that’s just my own fear of being apart from him and wishing he was with me and me being sad I can’t hold him. But it’s eating me alive.

I hope he’s running around somewhere with all the toys and bones where it’s always sunny and he is so happy. But at the same time I just think his happy place is next to me.

I keep hoping maybe his spirit will find its way back into this world and by my side again some day in a new dog and I know that’s a silly thought too. I don’t know how to cope with this loss it’s so hard.

I miss him so much, I love you forever Winston

Vent How am I supposed to move on with life when I know she isn't here with me.

I lost my love 13 days ago and life has been miserable. How am I supposed to live and create a future for myself when I know she isn't gonna be a part of it. How nobody's gonna answer when I say- " Bella I am here come". My little princess is gone, I can't live like this. I miss her everyday. I can never forget her. She'll always be a part of who I am and who I'll become. I miss you princess, I hope we meet again.

Sadness My 6 months old puppy passed away. I'm devastated 💔

Upvotes

My 6-month-old King Charles Cavalier (Winnie) passed away last night. She spent 2 days in intensive care critical condition, after eating some unknown plant in my parents garden. She died of liver failure caused by the toxicity of the plant. I've had dogs all my life, and they've always lived very full happy lives. My 16-year-old Jack Russell Terrier died last October, and we got this puppy then in April. I'm so absolutely heartbroken that this little baby didn't get to live her full life. And I don't think I've ever felt grief like this. To this heartache I have an 18-month-old toddler at home, and she has spent the whole morning walking around looking for a Winnie. They were the best friends, and had many little made up games together. My daughter is looking for her to play their games and it's just breaking my heart.

My head is a mess and I don't know how I will ever get over this. And then on the other side is I know my life will always feel empty without a dog in it. I need a dog in my life, they are my family, but I don't know if I could ever go through this again. Has anyone here ever had a similar situation of losing a dog at such a young age?? Was there anything he did to help you get over it? Did you end up getting another animal after them?

Sadness Two months

Upvotes

It’s been a little over two months now since we put my cat of 15 years down. I was in this forum the day after she died and found some of the best advice and comfort. I want to post again, for those going through what I had two months ago. I want to be that person that I needed then, with what I needed and wanted to hear.

The grief is constant, the first week was the worst. I do cry for her everyday, but I’ve learned to grow with the grief too. I let myself think about her, look at pictures and even laugh at memories. At first I begged to see signs she was still around and saw nothing. Now I feel like I see her everywhere!!

If you are reading this, you’re not alone, and you will get through this. Take care of yourself.

Sadness Having no Answers hurts the Worst

Sorry this is long i just. Needed to write his story out somewhere.

I lost my soulcat a little over two weeks ago to, what can only be guessed was his Gastrointestinal Lymphoma. He was a gorgeous tuxedo Norwegian Forest Cat named Oreo (not my choice my parents demanded to name him as a kitten), 14 years old and in otherwise incredible condition. I raised him from a kitten directly from the breeder.

He got diagnosed in November of 2024 after a million tests. His ultrasounds were inconclusive, his biopsies were inconclusive, they ended up needing to do some fancy test where they looked at the cells and counted the clones in order to diagnose him with cancer. He lost half his body weight rapidly and couldnt keep food down. But as soon as we started treatment, he improved!

He was on the classic steroid + chemo duo. And even though he was doing amazing we knew our time was limited, they gave us a best case scenario of 2 years.

What we didnt expect was to come home one day about two months ago, and he couldnt walk in his hind. Rushed him to the vet and they said it was likely a spinal stroke, but an MRI and a spinal tap could be done to rule out any new cancers or degenerative diseases. MRI was inconclusive, spinal tap came back clear, but the vets still leaned toward the spinal stroke.

And then two days later he had a seizure out of no where. It was the first one I had ever witnessed and how terrifying it was to see. Rush him to the vet, they are afraid this + the lameness in his legs means he might have a brain tumor. Another MRI, and the results are completely clear, no tumors no degeneration anywhere.

But we notice a pattern, certain sounds seem to set off these mini seizures that likely lead into the full blown one, so he likely had FARS, an audio related seizure syndrome. Theres not much they can do but we just avoid certain sounds and if it gets bad we can consider adding an antiseizure med.

Prior to the seizure he was still quite the happy cat! Purring, playing, cuddling, loving treats. After it. . . He just seemed depressed almost. Still purring, still playing, but not nearly as much.

Then he just stopped eating. Stopped enjoying treats. Started losing weight like crazy again, we thought maybe the cancer progressed but every test, every ultrasound came back looking great actually! Better than ever! They tested him for some pancreas deficiency, that came back clear, they checked everything. Everything came back perfect!

He was the healthiest unhealthy cat somehow.

Then he started hiding. Stopped purring. Wouldnt eat. We tried everything, appetite stimulants, anti nausea, upping medicines and doses.

Then they thought maybe the chemo he was on wasnt working anymore and that maybe the neuro symptoms were being caused by the long term use of it, since we were coming up on almost 2 years of being on it. So we planned on switching chemos and seeing if he improved. But me and the vets both had an understanding that quality of life was declining but we both wanted to give him a shot, see if we could find the answer, and then hopefully get him back on his feet since every test was so crystal clear.

We woke up a few days later, and his lips and nose and ears were yellow. His liver was failing. Likely due to not eating but there was no way to tell without running a million more tests, and putting him in the hospital on a feeding tube.

Oreo always loved the vets, the little weirdo he was, kneading and purring and rolling around on the vets tables. I wasnt worried about his stress levels being hospitalized, but i was deeeeeply worried about his quality of life, i was worried he would pass on his own, alone at the vets.

And so we made the call to euthanize. I regret not coming into the emergency vets saying so, that his liver was failing and we might need to euthanize. Maybe they would have taken us sooner but the poor boy had to wait 4 hours to even be seen. His last day was 4 hours in a carrier in a loud animal hospital. . .

And i just. God. I wish we had answers. I know logically we did everything we could. Every test, every medication. We went to highly qualified specialists. I put myself in so much debt for him and I dont regret that. I just wish I had one solid answer. Even if that answer was just His Cancer took him out. But even that didnt seem like the cause exactly. Maybe it was just a bunch of little things, little symptoms. Maybe the seizure fucked something up we couldn't see and he just. . . Was tired.

He mustve been fighting a bigger battle than me of the vets even thought cause they said he didnt even make it through all the sedation before the final euthanasia drug.

I wish i had answers, but maybe his case will help another cat down the line. And i miss him more than any words could capture. The crying has calmed down after the 2 weeks but its left me with this physical pain in my chest. And i keep reliving those last few months over and over, that last day. Wondering if anything could have been different. If one more test could have figured it out and he'd still be here. I know logically thats just grief talking. But my heart hurts nonetheless.

Im putting this out here to just. See if anyone can relate to it. To not having answers or to his weird medical case. And if you've managed to overcome that overwhelming desire for closure, for answers. Or if it always lingers alongside the grief.

Advice Wanted Should I be present through the whole euthanasia process?

Update: he's now in heaven and I was there the whole time. I told him I loved him and he was a good boy again and again until he was gone, and I don't think he was afraid. Thank you everyone for your support and sharing your stories. I am in unbearable pain right now and I think it will never get better for me, but he is resting.

...................

Tomorrow we are euthanizing my 16 year old boy, a boxer mix. He has cauda equina syndrome and he's getting paralyzed and has full incontinence. He also can't stand up for long before falling and getting anxious and frustrated. I've tried to keep him with us for as long as I could but he's suffering so I want to do what's best for him.

My question is: should I be there for the full process of euthanasia? I know there are two injections: one to fully sedate him and one to end it. I was thinking it may be too painful and traumatic to see him die, but I want to be there for him to calm him down and reassure him. So I was considering being there for the first injection, where he will be fully asleep and unaware of everything. I think seeing him exhaling for the very last time may be too much for me to take. But I want to be there to reassure him for as long as he's aware.

What do you guys think? If you had to euthanize your dog, were you present for the whole process?

Sadness My healthy cat passed away suddenly.

We are in complete shock. I’m writing this because my family and I are absolutely devastated and still trying to process what just happened.

Two days ago, our cat, Joe suddenly went missing. He is indoor/outdoor cat who love roaming and chasing birds in our backyard. He was acting completely normal before he disappeared. He showed absolutely no signs of sickness, disease, or any unusual behavior—he was just his usual self.

We looked for him, but this afternoon, my sister found him in our backyard. He had passed away, isolated hidden among the grass and trees.

We are in total shock. It breaks our hearts that he died so suddenly and that he was out there all alone. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their cat?

Advice Wanted lost my 1 year old boy

Lost my baby boy, beans, yesterday after he was so suddenly hit by a car. I cannot believe it. At 8am we were having cuddles and 2 hours later I get a phone call to say he has gone.

For context I had two cats growing up, both lived for 19 and 17 years. Outdoor cats and never once had an issue.

In February this year I finally decided to get another cat (well, we got two brothers) after going through the grief with my previous two brothers. We adopted them from a rescue shelter. We kept them in for at least the first 2 months but they were itching to go out so much, and we live in a quiet neighbourhood.

I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful he was. I have never known such an affectionate cat, he would jump and lay on me all the time and would sit on my shoulders as I walked around the house. He was a constant noise and now the house feels so empty without him.

We have only had him for 4 months. I absolutely fell in love with him. He was only 1 year old.

I feel so angry. I can’t believe this has happened. I adored him so much.

Not to mention that his brother was so close to him and has already been through so much too, as back in May he was days away from death himself and had to have a life saving operation due to an issue with his intestines being blocked which was so difficult to see him go through but he was an absolute star.

He has only just recovered and now he has lost his brother.

I am devastated. How do I get through this? I don’t ever want to let his brother out again. I’m terrified and keep blaming myself.

CONTENT WARNING/GRAPHIC I can handle it, I cry all day like a little kid.

I take care a lot of cats in my property mainly by feeding them. I consider them mine even though only the old ones are not scared and allow me to pet them occasionally. One of them gave birth to five kittens in my garage. Unfortunately all of them had the so called 'cat flu'. I took medication for the flu (which i put in their food) and drops for their eyes (in case any of them let me catch it). The past 10 days I tried treating them but it was not enough and four of them ended passing away.

I'm not stranger to grief when it comes to animals since I have seen many cats passing away or been killed by either cars or stray dogs in my area. I witnessed the passing of 4 of my dogs (due to long age) and every time is heartbreaking. Every time I find one I would give it a proper funeral to the best of my abilities. I just can't let their corpses there. I try to make my peace with it reasoning that they will be in a better place now. I hoped they didn't suffer and make the best I can for the rest of them.

The last one that survived the flu it was mainly cause it was the weakest. Couldn't eat, couldn't see unless I cleaned its eyes, barely moving. So I could catch it. I brought it to the vet every day for the past week so he can give it the medication directly into its system and every day it started going better and better. Until today.

I woke up and went to feed my dogs and I saw its body just outside my gate. I was gutted. I approached it, thinking it didn't make it and to my horror I saw injuries and it was still breathing. It was clearly paralyzed and unresponsive. The pain and suffering his little soul must have experienced is too much for me to understand or comprehend. I even crying typing this right now. It was most likely a dog. His frail little soul was suffering and I was sleeping. I thought of ending his pain right there but I'm too much of a coward I guess. I rushed to the vet and he told me what I already knew and ended his suffering.

I don't even use reddit but I read that venting and talking about it might help me. I honestly don't know if I believe that but my pain right now it just too much. I hope no owner experiences something like this and no animal go through it again but im lying to myself .

Now I’m supposed to love myself the way he loved me? I never loved myself before him but he showed me that I guess I’m not that bad. If he could love me that much then I can’t be that bad, I might have been depressed and suicidal when I got him but he loved me either way. He showed me the world wasn’t so black and white and he brought the color back, I didn’t need a man I didn’t need anyone because I had him. We took so many roadtrips went to so many places and he showed me the world from his view, so happy all the time. Now he’s gone and my life has gone back to black and white and I’m back to being depressed what am I supposed to do when all the color is gone again?

CONTENT WARNING/GRAPHIC My dog died of heatstroke and I can’t stop thinking about how much pain he must have been in

Upvotes

this has happened just now. my family’s elderly dog has died. we’re in extreme heat in texas right now. my mom put the dog outside before she left the house, and I was in the shower when she left and didn’t know she had put him out. he’s always inside, I didn’t think to check where he was because he’s always inside, I have this stupid habit of sitting in the shower for hours because I love showers. I went out back to take care of our horses, came back in and realized I didnt know where the dog was, I check outside and he’s dead in the yard, already stiff with blood coming from his mouth.

i can’t stop thinking about how much he must’ve suffered, I feel so unbelievably awful, I don’t know what I can possibly do going forward, I keep thinking about how the next few days are going to be with this event popping in my head suddenly all the time

Sadness I lost my dog, Goofy, two days ago.

Upvotes

He was 12 years old; before he died, he had been hit by a car and lay weak in the garden gazebo for four days. We gave him a bowl of food and water, but on July 20th, my father told me he had passed away. A minute later, we went to bury him near an abandoned building. I can't accept the fact that I'll never see him again...

Advice Wanted Comfort buying/spending? I'm not sure what else to call it

Upvotes

Hi all.

I lost my baby girl Ethel, 22, at the very end of June. I lost my girl Vera,2, at the start of October 2023 (roughly, never found her body).

Ethel had everything in her final days. All the healthcare possible, and her funeral was amazing (Chestnut Lodge, east ginstead, UK).

While I seem ok to everyone I feel like I'm covering it up with spending. I bought a keepsake necklace for her (about £150) and want to get a ring for both her and Vera (each about £300) but it's not just keepsakes, I bought stuff on sale from random other shops, tops etc from Primark I didn't necessarily need. I had a wardrobe clearout when Ethel left (new starts et al. So bf can have wardrobe space, I didn't want to change smells when Ethel was still here) which I tried to justify to myself?

Once I buy the memorial rings I have nothing to focus on? Bf says I can plan our wedding more, but I've done as much as I can without venue viewing and I feel so adrift. I also know I shouldn't just jump from one project to the next.

I have another baby girl at home and I love her very much. But she's not my Ethel, she's not my Vera. I couldn't even honour Vera like I did Ethel. So I'm trying to make up for it.

Is this just me? I feel so alone and abnormal

Rant I put my 10 year old dog down and I feel like I made the wrong choice

Upvotes

I can't stop thinking about my baby boy, Archie. A few weeks ago he started having seizures, and from there his health declined. He was sleeping all time, not interested in things that would get him excited and up and running, and only moving to go to the toilet or eat. On top of that he had a number of alarming symptoms appear like bleeding noses, pain on his head and a swollen eye.

The crazy thing is before the seizures he was a healthy boy and this all happened so suddenly.
We took him to the vets today and explained the situation.
The vet was lovely and laid out the best courses of action. We decided to let him go as we thought that is what's best for him, but now I am hurting real bad.

I cried as soon as I got back into the car and again when I got back home and didn't see Archie waiting for me like he used to before he became ill. I feel so lost without him and every thought of him brings me to tears again.

All I can think of now is what if I could've fixed him. I miss him so bad

I lost my 13yo cat 12 days ago, he was literally my everything, I try to go on saying it's the normal life course and he reached a not bad age but I miss him terribly everyday, I don't see anymore the world as I was used to see it when he was still with me, I am losing interest in the things that made me feel good before, I'm always sad and inconsolable, will ever get better? I feel a fool for thinking somehow he could be eternal, losing him I'm losing myself💔

Advice Wanted My cat died from a spontaneous secondary collapsed lung today

My cat died from a collapsed lung due to asthma today. He had asthma for about 8 or 9 years before this. From age 4 or 5 upward he had bronchitis once every 1,5 - 2 years that could still be fixed with antibiotics. But my cat took medicine very badly and the healthier he was the less likely he was to take medicine or even want to be placed into a transportation carrier. As such treatment of the collapsed lung was not a solution as his quality of life would not be grand, as it had been less than perfect for years so the vet and me decided together to humanely euthenise him.

Anyone else experienced this?

Is it worthwhile to let a kitten get used to pills or medicine or are cats just sometimes this way simply because their personalities differ in how easily they take medicine?

My cat was a very smart cheeky cat and as soon as he felt better and more healthy (which was often after a bronchitis episode or astma flare-up) he would lure me to the door and then when I got there quickly ran away to play a game. Also when he felt better he would run away and refused to be placed into a transport carrier. That's why I allways had to try to feel if he was sick enough to be able to make it to a vet appointment.

Also it was never an option for me to give him prednison for his asthma as he didn't take medicine well, the antiobiotics every 2 years were a struggle allready.

Sadness Lost my best friend in 2024 and still hurting

Hey all. In 2024 my St Bernard, Meatball, started unexpectedly walking with a limp. I took her to the vet thinking she had injured herself running around, maybe hurt a tendon, only to find out that she had cancer in the bone of her leg.

It was February, we had surgery the same month to amputate the leg. A decision that was extremely hard, i didn't know if i was doing it for me or doing it for her. Ultimately, decided i wanted to give her a chance even if it was a small one. The vet advised it could give her 6 months or 6 years, it was hard to tell if the cancer had already spread.

We got a very good 8 months, she was running around extremely well on 3 legs, full speed around the yard. She seemed happy. Then one day, she just couldn't stand up under her own strength. Vet visit, mass in the lungs. Then in a whirl of a couple of days she was gone.

I felt heartbreak that i'm not sure I'll ever feel again. Pure devastation. October will be 2 years and i just gone done bawling thinking about her. I dont know why im making this post. Maybe just to put on paper how much i miss her. I know you all understand the pain. Maybe i just want to remind the world that she existed and was a super sweet girl.

Impending Loss Family Dog getting put to sleep

Hello all. One of our family dogs, 11F, is scheduled to be put to sleep later this week. I'm starting to have a tough time with it and she isn't even gone yet. She is a lab/boxer mix was by far the friendliest dogs my family ever had. Only time she ever hurt anybody was by jumping on them to say hello or laying on your lap even though she was 80 pounds. It's just so tough to see a dog that was so full of life even in old age be a shell of their former self. I actually heard the song "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton on the car radio this morning and nearly had to pull over to cry.

It's also sad because she also has a brother who's about the same age but his breeding (bichon/schnauzer) has longer lifespans. I just keep thinking about if he know she's sick, or when we return without his sister will he know why, or will he adjust to being an only child for a time?

I'm honestly just typing this to express some feelings, but if anyone has any kind words or helpful advice, it will help make the coming days better.

Thank you.

he wasn't my dog, but i played with him a lot, there's a house on the way i take to go back home/go to the super market

last year i noticed there was a small dog there, so i got curious and went to check, it was such a cute puppy, so small, with with some brown spots, he let me pet it, and then i began to pass there a lot to caress and play with him throught the house's gate

but his owner began to let him run throught the neighbouhood alone, i took him back to her two times, she said he did that and came back, the it was normal, but he was such a small puppy it felt wrong to me

then today when i was coming back he was was on the street instead of the house's backyard like usual, i was going home, then he went to cross the street, i SAW he didn't know well how to deal with the cars, but he stoped to let the first car pass so i thought he would be okay, and the second car was going slow too, but he stood in front of the second car, and the car didn't stop it ran over him, and the ashole just kept driving and didn't stop to help (curse him i hope he goes to hell)

and i fucking froze, the car wasn't even fast i could have yelled for them to stop, or tried to get the dog out of the way, but i didn't and i feel so stupid, i feel like a monster

i tried to help, he was crying and kinda, convulsing i get, spasms, but when i picked him up he relaxed unless one his back legs was touched, so i thought it was just that that was wrong, i tried to go to his house and call for help, me and some people of the street screamed and called but his owner wasn't there

so instead of staying there and calling a vet i picked him up again and wen't to my house that was close, i still thought he just broke a paw or something, he was crying much more than on the first trip, he bit me, then he seemed to ...choke a few times i guess, and passed out, i tried to wake him up but it didn't work

so again, instead of staying there and calling a vet i ran home and screamed for my mom, he wasn't breathing, there was blood on his mouth, i tried to make him vomit the blood, even held him and put a finger there, tried to help him breath

it took a while for me to give up and acept he died, i kept my hand on his chest, i swore i still felt a heartbeat, even his mouth was already cold, and i stayed there crying while my mom tried to find his owner, after a while we put him onto a towel and i went to the hospital to take the necessary shots, and now came back

i can't sleep, i feel so guilty, i keep thinking about everthing i did wrong, thinking that i could have stoped this from happen if i just screamed to the car to stop, that i could have saved him if i just called the damn vet

the whole scene just keeps playing in my head over and over

i'm so scared of the possibility that i caused his death, that he might have had a fractured rib or something and me carrying him made it stab his lung

i can't stop cursing his owner for letting him loose like that, she FUCKING KNEW he was a small puppy, SHE KNEW there's big dogs around, and she let him take the risk, and they told me she didn't even cry when she picked his body

remembering the times i played him him is so painfull now, i don't even want to see that house ever again, i think i'll change my path to home and to the market, at least for a while, because i know that if i pass there, seeing the empty backyard will hurt too much

if someone has any advice on how to deal with that please tell me, i need it
