Hi! I just wanted to post in this sub because I was offered a job in my desired field in Peoria, but the catch is it’s a $17/hr entry level position. I talked to the news director (journalism! Infamously low starting pay!) but she said she’d try and see if I could make a little more.

That being said, is this a survivable wage in Peoria? I know I’d enjoy the area as I love the Midwest, and it seems like there’s more to do in Peoria than some of the other cities I’ve gotten offers from.

Also, what are some decent places I could maybe get a studio or one bedroom apartment at? I’d prefer to be in a less dangerous/quieter area, but I know that’ll cost more.

I'm looking for a local custom frame shop to create 1-3 displays for vintage Marimekko fabric pieces, with a focus on preservation. One is approx. 7 feet long, the others are larger remnants but more normal frame sizes.

I worked in the Hobby Lobby frameshop 2 decades ago so don't get me wrong, they did quality work for a lot of things and I created displays for needlepoint and other fabrics but it seems a lot has changed and I was disappointed with my options when I stopped in.

I thought I remembered seeing custom frame shops around town but Google didn't really turn up anything.

Found this old Advance Bottling Co. bottle (I’m guessing it was a soda bottle) while walking the Illinois River and ended up going down a rabbit hole trying to learn about it.
From what I can tell, it’s probably from the 1910s, but that’s about where my confidence ends. I started reading about Peoria’s bottling history and how the soft drink industry grew before and during Prohibition, and now I’m curious if this bottle actually dates to that time because that would be pretty cool.
Does anyone know anything about Advance Bottling Co.? Where it was located, what they bottled, or how long they were around?
It’s kind of crazy to think this thing has probably been sitting in the river for over 100 years. I haven’t been able to find much about the company itself, so I’m hoping someone here knows a piece of the story I’m missing.

and posting here on its own to hopefully gain some traction- if anybody needs some free discs to get started, I'm moving very soon and have a set of 25 to give away. A few in really good condition, some lightly used, others not so lightly used, and some real cheapies in case you're a true beginning chucker and afraid you might not clear a water hazard. (Better to lose free discs than ones you're paying for.) DM if interested within the next week, first DM gets them.
